Davis could step into a backup role with the Browns his rookie season. He has the attributes to be a fine compliment to Jamal Lewis. Davis has plus speed and shifty moves it the open field. He can break through a hole in a hurry. He needs to work on his blocking if he ever hopes to be an every-down back. Davis should be the No. 2 or 3 back for the Browns this season.

Davis has some upside if he grabs the backup job, which is possible. He might be worth a late-round flyer as a No. 4 or 5 back. He could get 500 or 600 total yards his rookie season.
The Associated Press reports the National Football League said the Cleveland Browns did not violate any league policies when RB James Davis (shoulder) was injured during a recent practice. Adam Schefter, of ESPN, reports two witnesses say Cleveland Browns RB James Davis (shoulder) injured his shoulder during a post-practice drill in which he was not wearing pads and the linebacker that hit him was. However, a team spokesman said that was untrue Saturday, Oct. 10. The NFL is aware of this incident and is investigating it. 'This is an outrage,' said a high-ranking NFLPA source. 'We have a no-pads rule for offseason activities. We've never seen a need to have a rule that if some guy has on pads, he can't take on a guy without pads. The commissioner's office needs to look into this.'
