The new coaching staff is spending a lot of time evaluating RB Montario Hardesty, who had 271 rushing yards and a 4.2 yards per carry average on 65 rushes in 2012. Hardesty has one year remaining on his contract at $630,000, so he would be cheap to cut or keep for depth.

Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur said Sunday, Oct. 21, that RB Trent Richardson (ribs) did not suffer any setbacks with his injury in Week 7 against the Indianapolis Colts. Richardson struggled, and Shurmur said the Colts stacked the box, so the team elected to keep passing. Shurmur also said he played RB Montario Hardesty more because he didn't feel Richardson was as effective as usual early on.
