Smith has good size for the position and a plus arm. He needs to improve his accuracy and learn to read defenses much better if he ever hopes to be an NFL starter.

'We're not looking for a guy that's not capable of starting and winning games for us. Tennessee Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt said QB Rusty Smith may not have the ability to be a starter in the NFL but he can certainly become a very good backup quarterback. 'He's still got all the tools. I think he's a young man that has a chance to play in the league for a number of years. He might not be a starter, but he could be a pretty darn good backup for a while. He's got all the things you look for: the strong arm, the good size and he's got a good touch, a quick release,' Reinfeldt said.
