Ridley got sporadic work his rookie season but was the lead back down the stretch, having double-digit carries the last three games of the season. He ran for 210 yards the last three games, averaging 70 yards per game. For the season, he ran for 441 yards and averaged 5.1 yards per carry. Ridley has a chance to play a big role in the offense from day one this coming season. He could be the starter in New England if the bricks fall his way in 2012. Ridley runs with power but also does well in space. He excels between the tackles as a runner. He isn't much of a receiver, though, as evident by his three receptions last season.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Even if he starts, that doesn't mean he will get consistent playing time for the Patriots. New England will rotate backs, which is a concern for Ridley. But he has some upside when things are going right for him. He could get around 900 total yards and seven or so scores, making him a solid No. 3 back for fantasy teams.

New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley played eight of the team's 66 offensive snaps in the Divisional Round playoff game against the Denver Broncos Saturday, Jan. 14. He did not play again after his third quarter fumble.

Fantasy Impact: This was a surprise with his strong finish to the season but the Patriots went with their veterans in the big game, which probably shouldn't come as a huge surprise.

New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley appears to have taken the role as lead running back over RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Ridley has more carries the past two games (24 to 13) and has been far more productive with a 5.4 yards-per-carry average to Green-Ellis' 2.1.

Fantasy Impact: Ridley is the back to use in New England right now. He is emerging as the starter in this offense.

New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley carried 11 times for a team-high 65 yards in the Week 15 win against the Denver Broncos. It was the second-highest yardage total of Ridley's rookie season since he had 97 yards in Week 4 against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Impact: Ridley probably is the most talented back on the roster and could be earning more work going forward.
