Summary

Running Back Rank: #68
Overall: #317

Carter got some chances his rookie season but didn't have a big year by any means. He had double-digit carries four of his first seven games but none after that. He ran for just less than 400 yards on the season. He topped 50-rushing yards just once all year. He still could be given a chance to start for the Colts this coming season despite last year, though. The entire offense was a mess, so don't get too caught up in the numbers for Carter. He still has a chance to get it going. Carter is more of a power back. He has good size and does well between the tackles. He also doesn't have bad moves in the open field and can make people miss in space. Carter lacks some elite speed, though, which could hold him back from starting. He also isn't a great receiver (five receptions last season), but does well in pass protection, which is a plus.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Carter remains a bit of a wild card, competing with a host of backs for playing time. He is worth a late-round flier come draft day but don't count on him as being a big producer. Consider him a boom or bust pick. In his current role, he might get 500 or 600 total yards and a few scores.

Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell said Monday, Dec. 19, that RB Delone Carter (forearm) could have returned in Week 15 after suffering an injury to his right forearm. 'He could've come back in, but we'll find out the full extent of it in the next day or so,' Caldwell said.
Fantasy Impact: Carter should be fine going forward but we'll keep you posted.

Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown will start in the team's Week 10 game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars. RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) is inactive.

Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown rushed 16 times for a season-high 70 yards in the team's Week 9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons after RB Delone Carter fumbled on the second play of the game. Carter has lost two fumbles in three games. 'It's important,' head coach Jim Caldwell said of ball security. 'You've got to learn it sometime. I think he will.'
Fantasy Impact: Carter will still get his work going forward. He is the most talented of the bunch.
Indianapolis Colts rookie RB Delone Carter will start at running back in place of RB Joseph Addai during Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons.
Indianapolis Colts RB Delone Carter carried 10 times for 89 yards and a touchdown in a 62-7 loss in Week 7 against the New Orleans Saints. It wasn't all good for Carter, as he did lose a fumble in the first quarter. Carter has found the end zone twice in the past three games.
Fantasy Impact: Carter was the lone bright spot for the Colts. He ran hard and made plays. He should continue to get a lot of work going forward.

Joseph Addai is not traveling with the team, leaving Delone Carter and Donald Brown to split the work at running back for the Colts in Week 6.
Fantasy Impact: Carter is the better back to use as he has more upside and should get the goal-line work.
Indianapolis Colts RB Delone Carter had 11 carries for 46 yards in Week 2 against the Cleveland Browns. Carter has 18 rushes for 71 yards through the first two games.
Fantasy Impact: Carter has run well and could be emerging as the full-time starter before long. He is the future at running back for the Colts.

Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell is considering using a combination of FB Chris Gronkowski and RB Delone Carter in short-yardage situations. 'We're hoping. That's kind of what we're looking at. Obviously, we had one successful conversion. It's early yet, so we'll see how they grow and develop together.'
Fantasy Impact: Carter's value could be gaining even more if he starts getting the goal-line work.
