Summary

Kicker Rank: #28
Overall: #482

For really the first time in his long career, Longwell had his struggles last season, making just 78.6 percent of his field goals. He did score 104 points but had just 81 the previous season, finally showing some signs of wearing down. At age 38 (when the season starts), Longwell might have a hard time finding a starting job after the last few seasons. Longwell has at least 100 points in all but four seasons in his career. For most of his career, Longwell was an accurate kicker with a pretty good leg.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Longwell is about done. Go with younger options with more upside. Even if he is starting again, Longwell proved last season his value is going south.

Minnesota Vikings impending free-agent PK Ryan Longwell said that he is not ruling out anything when free-agency begins. He said he would like to re-sign with the Vikings but is willing to sign with any team that needs a kicker. 'I'm not closing any doors to free agency,' Longwell said, 'because you just don't know who needs a veteran experienced kicker. We've had fun in Minnesota and certainly think there is legitimate chance to go back there and succeed.' Longwell said he will be definitely will play this season.
Fantasy Impact: Longwell should find work but isn't the elite kicker of past years.

Minnesota Vikings PK Ryan Longwell said he believes that the new kickoff rules can help extend his career because it will be easier to reach the end zone with kicks, reports Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. 'All of a sudden the goal line is in reach to open up some strategy stuff ... The way my career has gone, I've been blessed to play this long. I would think that this could give me some more years at the end of this,' Longwell said.
Fantasy Impact: Some of the older kickers could hang on longer with this new rule.
