SUMMARY
Quarterback Rank: #42
Overall: #244

Kitna played in four games before landing on Injured Reserve with a back injury. And Kitna claimed his injury wasn't serious. The Lions just made the move because they wanted to go with someone else at quarterback. Either way, Kitna's days of starting seem about over. He moves to the Cowboys where he'll serve as Tony Romo's backup. Kitna has as many interceptions as touchdowns passes in each of the last three seasons. He doesn't have a great arm, but is accurate and does a good job of hitting his receivers in stride, making him top backup material.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Kitna might be worth a waiver-wire grab if he starts some games for the Cowboys, but don't expect much. His best days are over.
Todd Archer, of The Dallas Morning News, reports Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo and QB Jon Kitna are not expected to see much playing time in the team's preseason game Thursday, Aug. 13.

ESPN.com reports Detroit Lions QB Jon Kitna (back) said the Lions wanted to replace him as the starter and used his back injury as an excuse to make the move. 'You want to make a change? Hey, I can see that. I understand the position. I understand how things go in this league. But let's make a change and let's say what it is. I don't like the fact that somehow you're making me into being this selfish person or this person who was only out for himself, because that was never the case,' Kitna said. He has been placed on Injured Reserve, ending his season.

The team is saying that Kitna has back spasms. However, according to The Oakland Press, Kitna may have possible damage to the muscles in his lower back. The injury also is not career-threatening and is treated with rest. Kitna said the injury should not be considered serious. 'I'll eventually be able to play,' Kitna said. 'I don't know if it will be this week.'
