Batch got a couple starts despite being No. 3 on the Steelers depth chart. Injury occurred and he was forced into action. He was intercepted three times his first start but rebounded with a nice showing his next time out, throwing for 276 yards and a touchdown. Batch proved he could still help in a pinch but remains backup material more than anything. Batch has been a backup in Pittsburgh since 2003 but has gotten little work in this role. His season high in pass attempts with the Steelers is 72, which happened last season. At age 38, Batch is a decent backup because of his experience but isn't an every-week starter and could be nearing the end of his career. He has some past starting experience and the knack for the occasional big game. Batch still has a good arm and can make plays on the run. He has never been the most accurate quarterback, though, and will force some throws.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Batch isn't likely to help fantasy teams this season. He proved last season that he can't be trusted. He is a stretch to even find the field at this stage of his career.

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said QB Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder, ribs) is capable of playing in practice this week before the team starts him in Week 14. Tomlin won't have reservations about going with QB Charlie Batch if Roethlisberger isn't ready. Tomlin said Batch will see the majority of first-team repetitions in practice this week.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Charlie Batch completed 25 of his 36 pass attempts for 276 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Week 13 game against the Baltimore Ravens. Batch was impressive in the fourth quarter and overtime, engineering a game-tying drive and TD throw to TE Heath Miller, and then setting his team up for the game-winning field goal in overtime.
Fantasy Impact: Batch had a very nice showing after a rough first start. Maybe he still has something left in the tank.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder) was officially ruled out for the Week 13 game against the Baltimore Ravens, which is bad news for the visitors. The Steelers are 0-6 against the Ravens when Roethlisberger doesn't start. QB Charlie Batch is 0-2 in his career against the Ravens.
