SUMMARY
Quarterback Rank: #65
Overall: #375

After a career year in '07, Redman didn't see the field last season. He was the backup to Matt Ryan, who took every snap. Redman should remain in a backup role with the Falcons. And he is a valuable backup, having starting experience and some past success. Redman is a former high draft pick, so the talent is there. He is a pretty good arm and is fairly accurate.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Unless Ryan gets hurt, don't bother with Redman. And even if Ryan goes down, Redman isn't anything more than a spot starter or backup for fantasy teams.
D. Orlando Ledbetter, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons QB Chris Redman stood out as the team's primary option as a No. 2 quarterback during the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 29. His showing was the best of any of the team's backups during the preseason.

Pat Yasinskas, of ESPN.com, reports Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith said QBs Matt Ryan, Chris Redman, D.J. Shockley and John Parker Wilson will each play a quarter in the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 15. Smith would not say in what order they quarterbacks would be used.

The Associated Press reports Atlanta Falcons QB Chris Redman will start the team's preseason opener Saturday, Aug. 9. QB Matt Ryan will likely be the next quarteraback to see action. "And as we go through the preseason, we will start a different quarterback in a different game," head coach Mike Smith said. "That's the plan right now. We're going to make sure that all of our guys have an opportunity to play with the first unit. It's an open competition for those guys, and this will be the first opportunity for them."

The Associated Press reports Atlanta Falcons QB Chris Redman isn't ready to hand over the starting job to rookie QB Matt Ryan. Ryan is clearly the team's quarterback of the future after they drafted him in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft, but Redman wants to be the team's No. 1 quarterback when the season begins. Redman, the incumbent starter, said he feels he has earned respect around the team and he will be OK as long as he does his part. Redman completed 59.7 percent of his passes last year for 1,079 yards, 10 touchdowns and five interceptions. His 90.7 quarterback rating in 2007 was the best of any of the quarterbacks on the team.

J. Michael Moore, of AtlantaFalcons.com, reports Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith was impressed with QB Chris Redman's progress from being out of football to starting the team's final four games in 2007. "I think Chris has done a nice job," Smith said. "I think it's a great story (and) he played efficiently there at the end of the season. It's a new system for him; it's a new system for all of us. We made a lot of progress but we also have a lot of things we need to clean up."
Fantasy Impact: Right now, Redman is the starter in Atlanta but a lot can change between now and the start of the season.
Charles Odum, of the Associated Press, reports Atlanta Falcons QB Chris Redman is expected to open the 2008 season as the team's starting quarterback.
Fantasy Impact: This is far from a sure thing, but Redman is the starter - for now.
Updating a previous report, Adam Schefter, of NFL.com, reports Atlanta Falcons have re-signed unrestricted free-agent QB Chris Redman to a two-year deal worth $5 million. The contract also includes $3 million in escalators.
The Atlanta Falcons announced Friday, Feb. 29, that they have re-signed QB Chris Redman. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Fantasy Impact: At this point, he'll compete to start but you would have to think the Falcons will bring in another better option at quarterback.
