Running Back Rank: #162 Overall: #708
Gore was having maybe his best season as a pro before breaking his hip in Week 12. He missed the rest of the season but didn't need surgery to repair the injury. Gore should be just fine for the start of 2011. Before getting hurt, Gore had four 100-yard games and 1,305 total yards. He was well on his way to another 1,000-yard rushing season. Gore had 1,000-yard seasons four straight before this past season. He should once again be the centerpiece of the new 49ers offense, which should be run heavy with John Harbaugh at the helm. Gore does have some injury concerns, playing just one full season his entire career. He also hasn't been a huge touchdown threat in his career, having double-digit touchdowns just once during his career. Gore is an explosive back. He has good speed and moves in the open field. He has big-play potential and gets plenty of work in the passing game. He will be 28 before the start of the season, so he doesn't have a ton of life left on those legs.

Gore is a borderline first-round pick. He has big total yardage potential, but has a hard time staying healthy and a history of so-so touchdown numbers. Harbaugh should put the focus of the offense on Gore, but that has been done in the past with Gore and his numbers haven't been off the charts. Realistic expectations for Gore are 1,500 total yards and eight touchdowns. Draft accordingly. |
