SUMMARY
Quarterback Rank: #84
Overall: #476

McCown had some workouts last season, but didn't land with a team. He played the previous two seasons with the Panthers, attempting six passes in that time. McCown has some starting experience, though, and displayed some flashes of good things, having some big games with the Cardinals and Raiders in past seasons. His mistakes always seem to be his downfall (40 interceptions to 35 touchdown passes). But he has a huge arm and seems to make big plays. He'll be 32 when the season starts, so McCown is running out of time to make an impact once again.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
McCown has limited fantasy value. He is a long shot to get a chance to start in 2011. And even if that happens for some reason, the chances of him really helping fantasy teams is minimal.
Chicago Bears QB Josh McCown has done enough since signing a one-year contract last week to be part of the team's offseason conversation. The team gained a season-high 441 yards in Week 16 against the Green Bay Packers. 'I think everything you do, you have to look at the performance and the performance Josh put in (Sunday night) was impressive,' head coach Lovie Smith said. 'That's why we can get so much done this week. We want to see him have an opportunity to come back and play again this coming week. You normally can find a spot for a player that played the way he played (Sunday night).'

Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith did not rule out QB Jay Cutler (thumb) for the Week 17 game against the Minnesota Vikings, although he said Monday, Dec. 26, that he is looking forward to seeing QB Josh McCown Sunday, Jan. 1.
Fantasy Impact: There isn't a reason to rush back Cutler with the Bears out of playoff contention.

Chicago Bears QB Josh McCown completed 19 of 28 passes for 242 yards, one touchdowns and two interceptions in the Week 16 game against the Green Bay Packers. McCown also racked up 38 yards on eight rushes, and he made a nice hustling play to recover a fumble by RB Kahlil Bell in the second half.
Fantasy Impact: McCown gave the offense a spark. He looked a lot better than Caleb Hanie has the past few weeks.

Chicago Bears QB Josh McCown, named the Week 16 starter Wednesday, Dec. 21, might have a chance to get offered a contract for 2012 if he shows well in the final two games. That would bring him into the offseason program and have him go to training camp with the team in July. 'If I keep looking back and saying, 'I only got here six weeks ago,' then it becomes an excuse (and) I think you leave an area for you not to play well because you're leaving something to fall back on,' McCown said.

Chicago Bears QB Josh McCown has been named the starting quarterback for Week 16.
Fantasy Impact: This is not a surprise with how badly Caleb Hanie has been as starter.

Chicago Bears QB Josh McCown will be given the opportunity to win the starting job for the team's Week 16 game against the Green Bay Packers, according to multiple sources. He could earn the job if he shows the team enough in practice this week. QB Caleb Hanie has tossed nine interceptions in four games.
Fantasy Impact: McCown should really be given a shot to start Week 16. It can't hurt at this point.

Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith wasn't prepared to disclose plans to make a change at quarterback following Week 15. 'Open?' Smith asked about the quarterback position. 'I mean, it's right after the game and we're disappointed in our performance today in the quarterback position. But I can't tell you any more than that.' QBs Caleb Hanie and Josh McCown combined to throw four interceptions - two returned for touchdowns - in Week 15.
Fantasy Impact: The best they can hope for is Jay Cutler makes a speedy recovery.

Chicago Bears QB Josh McCown did not play in Week 14 against the Denver Broncos, but he dressed the primary back to QB Caleb Hanie, surpassing QB Nathan Enderle on the depth chart.

The Chicago Bears have agreed to terms with free-agent QB Josh McCown (49ers) on a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Fantasy Impact: He should serve as the top backup to Caleb Hanie going forward.

Free-agent QBs Trent Edwards (Raiders), David Garrard (Jaguars) and Josh McCown (49ers) have each not yet been scheduled for workouts with the Oakland Raiders, although they have been contacted by the team.
