SUMMARY
Quarterback Rank: #45
Overall: #259

Hill started much of the season for the Lions because of an injury to Matthew Stafford. Hill was very good in a starting role. He had 16 touchdowns to 12 interceptions in 11 games. He had three 300-yard games and five games with two or more scores. He averaged 244-passing yards per game. And Hill even battled injury, missing some games because of a broken forearm and broken pinkie. Hill has completed 62 percent of his passes for his career and has an 84.6 passer rating. Hill has shown he can move an offense if given the chance to start. He should continue to be the top backup in Detroit. The Lions trust Hill and Stafford is no sure thing to be healthy after his first few seasons in the league, so Hill is a good fit for the team. Hill doesn't have a great arm, but is accurate and does a good job of hitting his receivers in stride. He knows his abilities and makes the most of them. He will force some throws and is just so-so with the deep ball, though.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Hill might be a decent handcuff for Stafford if you have the roster space. Otherwise, you probably just want to hold off on Hill until injury strikes, which is very possible considering the circumstance. Hill can be a solid spot starter for fantasy teams if he is in the starting lineup. He has big-game potential.
Detroit Lions impending free-agent QB Shaun Hill said he expects to test the free agent market but would be open to re-signing with the Lions. Hill said he understands he would be the backup quarterback if he returns.

Detroit Lions QB Shaun Hill took snaps with the first team in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26. Either he or QB Drew Stanton would start in Week 8 against the Denver Broncos if QB Matthew Stafford (ankle) cannot play.
Fantasy Impact: Hill would be the starter if Stafford can't play but it is looking pretty good for Stafford to play right now.

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle) was in a helmet and shoulder pads Wednesday, Oct. 26, but he didn't take any first-team repetitions in the early portion of practice. He stretched, jogged and did some light throwing. QB Shaun Hill took all of the first-team reps. Stafford has yet to be ruled out for Week 8 against the Denver Broncos.
Fantasy Impact: We'll know more later in the week but consider Hill a pretty good bet to start at the moment.

Detroit Lions QB Shaun Hill was an efficient 8-for-9 with 63 yards in the preseason opener Friday, Aug. 12, against the Cincinnati Bengals. Hill also had a seven-yard run for score. QB Drew Stanton, who is expected to be the No. 3 QB, completed 7-for-15 for 110 yards.
Fantasy Impact: Hill continues to play well when given the chance. He could be a starter in this league right now.

Detroit Lions QB Shaun Hill (back) underwent minor back surgery last week but expects to be running working out fully in four to six weeks.
Fantasy Impact: Doesn't sound like a huge deal but back surgery is never a sure thing. We'll keep you posted on his progress.
