2014 DRAFT GUIDE
Reid's Eagles lose 8th in row, 38-33 at Cowboys

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - The Philadelphia Eagles led after the first quarter for the first time all season, and led after the second and third quarters as well. They scored on four consecutive drives at one point, and there was even a 98-yard punt return.

Rookie running back Bryce Brown had another big night, with 169 yards and two more touchdowns.

And the result was the same for Andy Reid and the Eagles.

Philadelphia's slide reached eight games with a 38-33 loss at Dallas on Sunday night.

``I'm embarrassed. I'm embarrassed for coach Reid because he's a great coach and this is a horrible reflection on him,'' tight end Brent Celek said. ``I know he gets a lot of heat for it, but we as players, we're the ones out there playing. You can't make the mistakes that we've been making and expect to win.''

It's the Eagles' longest losing streak since they dropped 11 in a row during the 1970 season. It's twice as long as any other losing streak during Reid's 14 seasons in Philadelphia (3-9).

``Overall, I can't stand here and tell you I'm proud of it. I take it personally, it's my responsibility,'' said Reid, who was later asked if he thought he'd get to finish the season. ``I haven't been told any different, so I'll keep going.''

Brown's second big game in a row, after a team rookie record 178 yards rushing and two TDs against Carolina, was marred somewhat by his fumble with less than 4 minutes left - a miscue that Cowboys rookie Morris Claiborne picked up and returned 50 yards for a touchdown.

``Up until that fumble, he had done a heck of a job,'' Reid said. ``He was trying to get every stinking yard he possibly could.''

That was the first Philadelphia drive since early in the second quarter that didn't result in points for the Eagles, and it pushed the Cowboys (6-6) ahead 38-27.

Damaris Johnson had the long punt return with 31 seconds left. After a missed 2-point conversion, Dallas recovered the onside kick to seal the victory.

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo threw three touchdown passes to break a franchise record held by Troy Aikman.

All three of Romo's scoring tosses came in the second half and offset strong performances by the rookie duo of Brown and quarterback Nick Foles, who completed 22 of 34 passes for 251 yards and a touchdown for Philadelphia.

The Cowboys trailed 27-24 when Romo led an 86-yard drive that was sparked by a 35-yard pass to Dez Bryant on third down. Bryant gave Dallas the lead when he took a screen pass from the 6 and got inside the pylon with 5:40 remaining.

``It's about winning games,'' Romo said. ``We desperately had to have this win tonight, and our team fought like heck to get a win.''

Romo broke Aikman's record with his 166th career touchdown pass in the third quarter, when Bryant took a short pass after a scramble by Romo and weaved through the Philadelphia defense for a 23-yard play.

``He made a lot of good throws, different kinds of throws in the ballgame,'' Dallas coach Jason Garrett said.

Brown's fumble snapped a streak of eight straight scoring drives by both teams. It was the second straight week that he mixed big runs with critical fumbles after losing the ball twice in last week's loss to Carolina.

Foles, making his third start in Michael Vick's place, led the Eagles to a 27-24 lead early in the fourth quarter on a 43-yard field goal by Alex Henery, who now has the longest current field goal streak at 21 after Cleveland's Phil Dawson had a kick blocked Sunday.

Romo had another response, and ended up completing all 10 passes in the second half and his last 12 overall. He was 22 of 27 for 303 yards with no interceptions.

Dallas running back DeMarco Murray, who started after missing six games with a sprained right foot, finished with 83 yards and a touchdown.

Brown, who started his first game since high school when he filled in for LeSean McCoy last week, went in untouched on both of his scoring plays in the first half. He scooted around the left side for a 7-0 lead and trotted through a big hole up the middle to make it 14-3 midway through the second quarter.

Vick and McCoy are sidelined by concussions.

NOTES: The Cowboys snapped an eight-game losing streak on Sunday night. ... Foles' first two career TD passes were against Dallas, and both were to Riley Cooper. ... Heisman Trophy contender Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M watched the game from a suite. His next game will be at Cowboys Stadium, against Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 4.
