2013 DRAFT GUIDE
Five things to know from Eagles-Jaguars

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Michael Vick took off running way more than the Philadelphia Eagles would like Saturday night.`

He also threw an interception while trying to get rid of the ball.

It wasn't his best performance of the preseason. But it wasn't cause for alarm, either, coach Chip Kelly said following his team's 31-24 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

``Hopefully we get that stuff out of us,'' Kelly said. ``I thought Michael did a really good job of keeping plays alive at times, but there are other times where you have to cut your losses and get us back to the line of scrimmage and get the next snap off. He did a good job of not forcing the football.''

Vick completed 15 of 23 passes for 184 yards, with a touchdown and an interception. He also ran seven times for 53 yards, most of them coming after plays broke down.

Just days after being chosen the starter, Vick showed solid command of Kelly's up-tempo offense.

``I think there were a lot of things that happened tonight that are very promising for our team,'' Vick said. ``I ran the ball pretty well. I don't want to run that much, but I would if I have to. I did it and protected myself all night. If I can do it like that, then I can help this football team.''

Here are five things to know following the Eagles-Jaguars game:

1. BROWN'S UPS AND DOWNS: Eagles backup running back Bryce Brown led the team with 92 yards on 11 carries, but he also had a costly fumble near the goal line. Brown lost control of the ball when he was hit by Jaguars safety Dwight Lowery. The ball rolled out of the end zone for a touchback. ``He hasn't done that in the earlier games,'' Kelly said. ``He had it out there swinging it on that one fumble, but we talked about that.''

2. PETERS PLAYS: Eagles left tackle Jason Peters, who missed all of last season with an Achilles tendon injury, made his preseason debut against Jacksonville. But Kelly called the offensive line ``a work in progress.'' The Jaguars have the fewest sacks in the NFL over the last five years, but they got two against the Eagles and probably would have had a few more had it not been for Vick's scrambling prowess. ``Overall, there is no place where we can say, `We're good to go,''' Kelly said. ``It's always a constant, `We need to improve in every aspect of this football team.'''

3. RACKLEY INJURED: Jaguars left guard Will Rackley, who missed all of last season because of an ankle injury, tweaked his left knee on the team's first offensive play. X-rays were negative, but an MRI was scheduled for Sunday. The Jaguars have little depth along the offensive line, so they can't afford to lose Rackley for another season.

4. TODMAN IMPRESSES: With Jaguars backup running back Justin Forsett sitting out another preseason game with a toe injury, Jordan Todman made a strong case for making the 53-man roster. Todman ran eight times for 105 yards, including a 63-yard touchdown in the second quarter. His huge run was longer than anything the team did in the regular season the last two years.

5. UP-TEMPO OFFENSES: The Eagles have gotten plenty of attention for Kelly's up-tempo offense. But Philly's not the only team running lots of no-huddle. The Jaguars maintained an equally brisk pace throughout the game, finishing with 73 plays - three more than the Eagles. Coming into the game, the Eagles were the only team in the league averaging fewer seconds between plays than Jacksonville in the preseason.
