EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - Marcus Sherels has been on the Minnesota Vikings' roster bubble ever since he first set foot on the field in 2010.
And every year, the little cornerback that could finds a way to stick around. Sherels is back for a fourth season in purple after perhaps his most difficult preseason yet. He lost his father last week and was battling with several other bigger prospects for the final cornerback spot.
In the final exhibition game, Sherels intercepted a pass and returned a kickoff 109 yards for a touchdown to seal his spot.
The 5-foot-9 Sherels says he's excited he doesn't have to worry about a spot anymore and can get ready for the season opener at Detroit on Sunday.
