KFFL.com's Fantasy Football Analysis Draft (FAD) brings you behind the scenes on all 16 rounds of an actual fantasy football league draft. Each of our experts participating give you their thoughts and analysis as to why they chose the player they did. This is not a mock fantasy football draft, as this league will be played out during the course of the 2010 fantasy football season, so each participant is drafting to win this year. This is our second Fantasy Analysis Draft of the summer. Click here to check out the first one and see how players are changing in value! How do you feel about each selection? Would you have made the same move? We want to hear your thoughts in the comments area at the bottom of the page. If you disagree with a pick, let your thoughts be known. 1) Bernard Berrian, wide receiver, Minnesota Vikings Team: Adam Zdroik, RotoExperts.com | Team Roster Reason: He is my seventh wide receiver, but I didn't think any of the running backs available were a better option. Not to mention I made this pick about 30 minutes before the news broke of Percy Harvin collapsing in practice. Unfortunate for him, but maybe I'm in for a lucky season. 2) Demaryius Thomas, wide receiver, Denver Broncos Team: Paul Hickey, No-Offseason.com | Team Roster Minny's new No. 1? | Reason: Honestly, I love this guy in dynasty leagues. I realize this is a seasonal format, but in the off-chance that his foot heals and he develops quicker than most think, I have a gold mine in Round 14. 3) Nate Burleson, wide receiver, Detroit Lions Team: Cory J. Bonini, KFFL.com | Team Roster Reason: Burleson reunites with his former offensive coordinator, Scott Linehan, under whom the wideout enjoyed his best season as a pro. Wide receiver Calvin Johnson will leave Burleson facing a lot of single coverage, and Detroit's defense should provide the offense plenty of passing opps. 4) Kareem Huggins, running back, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Team: Jeff Tefertiller, FootballGuys.com | Team Roster Reason: Huggins has come on strong. He has passed Derrick Ward on the depth chart and could put pressure on Cadillac Williams. This late in the draft is a spot to take risks, and I like Huggins' upside here. 5) San Francisco 49ers, defensive team/special teams Team: Herbie Teope, Time Warner Cable | Team Roster Reason: I briefly considered handcuffing Jason Snelling to Michael Turner but decided to address defense after considering my draft position with two rounds to go. The 49ers surprised in 2009 as the second-highest scoring defense in most formats, and this unit will explode in 2010. San Francisco feasts on a schedule featuring the AFC West; four total games against weak divisional foes, the Seattle Seahawks and St. Louis Rams; and two teams with quarterback concerns, the Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 6) Jason Snelling, running back, Atlanta Falcons Team: Ryan Lester, Lester's Legends | Team Roster Reason: Snelling has the goods to deliver if the injury bug hits Michael Turner. He also serves as a trade chip if I look to deal this handcuff to the Turner owner. 7) Minnesota Vikings, defensive team/special teams Team: David Dorey, The Huddle | Team Roster Reason: I need a defense and might as well take one in the 14th when I have some choice than wait until the 15th, which most teams appear likely to do. This scoring doesn't lend itself to that much difference between defenses, but the Vikings should be a solid pick, and the return of Brett Favre will spark more points that can lead to more opponent passing, which means sacks and interceptions. I like this pick but the Week 4 bye means I need a backup in the first few weeks of the season. 8) Roy Williams, wide receiver, Dallas Cowboys Team: Tony Holm, FantasySharks.com | Team Roster Not done yet | Reason: I just think the Williams story may have a happy ending. Dez Bryant has pushed him into being a better receiver, and for as good as Bryant may be one day, it's still Williams' job to lose. He has a lot of talent and may be in a better situation than many give him credit for. Quarterback Tony Romo is an asset, and Williams still has a lot to prove. 9) Baltimore Ravens, defensive team/special teams Team: William Del Pilar, KFFL.com | Team Roster Reason: Upon securing my starting tight end and backup quarterback, to be able to grab the Ravens defense was outstanding. Sure, they're not the defense they were a few years ago, but they're solid enough at this point in the draft. If they falter I'm also not afraid to play the matchups by using the weekly waiver to grab a defense solid enough for a one-week play. 10) Brian Hartline, wide receiver, Miami Dolphins Team: Jim Day, FantasyPros911.com | Team Roster Reason: Hartline is being forgotten in most drafts but is really in a position to provide decent stats, especially as a No. 4 or No. 5 WR. Hartline had a decent rookie season with 31 receptions, 506 yards and two touchdowns in limited playing time. Going into 2010, Hartline has a hold on the No. 2 job and should see plenty of chances across from stud Brandon Marshall. Hartline should increase his numbers across the board and is not a bad choice as my No. 5 WR. 11) Philadelphia Eagles, defensive team/special teams Team: Ian Riley, OpenSports.com | Team Roster Reason: The Eagles tied for third in the league in sacks and fourth in interceptions last season. They blitz more than Brett Favre waffles on retirement. They may give up points and yardage in chunks, but I will take the sacks and takeaways they provide without blinking an eye. 12) Garrett Hartley, place kicker, New Orleans Saints Team: Matt Pitzer, USA Today | Team Roster Reason: Like the last pick with the Green Bay Packers' defense, I did not have any pressing needs, and I also did not think the available value was anything special. Again, I had an opportunity to get the top kicker. While that might not be worth much, it should be worth a couple of points, and I think that is a couple of points more than I would get out of any other selection. |
