Green Bay Packers rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd (ankle) is not practicing yet despite being eligible to return to practice while on Injured Reserve on Wednesday. "I think he's getting closer," head coach Matt LaFleur said. When asked if Lloyd would return to practice next week, LaFleur said, "We'll see." Lloyd made his NFL debut in the Week 2 win over the Indianapolis Colts and carried the ball six times for 15 yards while catching his only target for a three-yard gain. He's been on IR ever since. The 23-year-old has battle multiple injuries early in his NFL career, but he still has the potential to become the direct backup to Josh Jacobs in Green Bay before the end of the year. With a return date up in the air, Lloyd is only worth stashing for now in really deep-mixed and dynasty/keeper leagues.

Dynasty | The Packers have placed running back MarShawn Lloyd on injured reserve. Dynasty Analysis: The Packers tried to get Lloyd through his preseason hip and hamstring injuries after they lost AJ Dillon for the season, but Lloyd hurt his ankle this week and it's clear the team had to just throw in the towel for the moment as he'll now be out for at least a month. The Packers signed Chris Brooks off their practice squad this week and he should also be monitored in a backfield that's suddenly very thin behind Josh Jacobs.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Sep 17 4:30pm ET

The Green Bay Packers placed rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd (ankle) on Injured Reserve on Tuesday and signed running back Chris Brooks to the active 53-man roster from the practice squad in a corresponding move. Lloyd has quickly developed an injury-prone reputation early in his rookie season after missing most of training camp and the preseason with injuries as well. The 23-year-old will now miss at least the next four games with an ankle injury he suffered in the Week 2 win over the Indianapolis Colts. The explosive third-rounder was the clear front-runner for RB2 duties over Emanuel Wilson with AJ Dillon (neck) out for the year. But now that Lloyd is going to miss more time, Wilson is worth a waiver-wire pickup for RB depth, especially if you also have starter Josh Jacobs rostered. Lloyd was inactive in the season opener but had six carries for 15 yards and caught one pass for three yards in Week 2.

Sep 16 6:30pm ET

Green Bay Packers rookie MarShawn Lloyd (ankle) said he suffered a sprained ankle in his NFL debut in the Week 2 win over the Tennessee Titans at Lambeau Field on Sunday. Lloyd is walking fine but called himself day-to-day. The 23-year-old has already dealt with three different injuries since training camp that have limited his on-field abilities early in his first year in the NFL. His injury doesn't sound too serious, but it also doesn't mean that Lloyd will be a lock to play in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans. The third-round selection has a great opportunity to be Green Bay's No. 2 RB behind Josh Jacobs with AJ Dillon (neck) out for the year, but injuries have held him back so far. If Lloyd is limited or out this weekend, Emanuel Wilson will be Jacobs' backup again in Week 3. Lloyd saw six carries and gained 15 yards on the ground while catching one pass for a three-yard gain in his NFL debut on Sunday.

Sep 15 3:50pm ET

Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd (ankle) exited during the second half of Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts and is officially questionable to return. He was making his NFL debut this week after missing Week 1 with a hamstring injury. At the time of his departure, he had 15 rushing yards and three receiving yards. Emanuel Wilson will serve as the primary backup to Josh Jacobs for the duration of Lloyd's absence.

Sep 15 11:50am ET

Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) is officially active for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts. He had been listed as questionable but was trending in the right direction throughout the weekend. As Lloyd makes his NFL debut, he could steal some touches from backup Emanuel Wilson. Both backs are expected to touch the ball Sunday despite operating behind Josh Jacobs. In fact, Green Bay could have a heavy dependence on its rushing attack with Malik Willis starting in place of the injured Jordan Love (knee). If the Packers want to keep the clock ticking and reduce the chances of a Willis turnover, we could see a lot of opportunities for Jacobs with Lloyd and Wilson each getting at least a handful of touches, too. Still, Lloyd is not an appealing redraft option and can be left on the bench in most dynasty leagues, too.

Sep 15 10:30am ET

Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) is currently listed as questionable ahead of the Week 2 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. Despite that, Lloyd is expected to suit up and make his NFL debut. This same hamstring issue held him out during the season opener, but it appears Lloyd is feeling better now. He figures to serve as the primary backup to Josh Jacobs. His workload is unknown, but he should at least be involved in the rushing attack. The rookie back isn't worth starting while Jacobs is healthy, but he should be rostered in all dynasty leagues and stashed in deep leagues.

Sep 13 4:20pm ET

Green Bay Packers rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's match against the Indianapolis Colts. The rookie running back suffered a hamstring injury in August and was held out of the season opener out of precaution. Throughout the week, the USC product has logged three straight limited practice sessions, which is an improvement over the previous week, where he was only able to practice in a limited capacity twice. Lloyd could be setting himself up to make his professional debut this weekend. If he does, fantasy managers should expect him to serve as the No.2 running back behind Josh Jacobs. As the season progresses, he could eventually grow into a more prominent role and is worth stashing on your bench.

Sep 12 3:40pm ET

Green Bay Packers rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) continued to practice in a limited capacity on Thursday, according to Jason B. Hirschhorn of NFL.com. The former third-round pick in this year's draft was unable to play in Week 1 and remains questionable heading into Week 2. The USC product suffered a hamstring injury back in August and is still experiencing some lingering limitations. As a result, Emanuel Wilson served as the No. 2 running back in the opener behind Josh Jacobs. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Lloyd's status heading into the weekend. If Lloyd makes his professional debut on Sunday, he should be expected to slot in behind Jacobs and serve as a solid change-of-pace option. He is worth stashing on your bench in deeper formats, as he could play a prominent role in the offense as the season progresses.

Sep 6 7:10pm ET

Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) is inactive for Friday night's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. To fill the gap, the Packers have promoted Ellis Merriweather from the practice squad. Lloyd, who is recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in the preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns, has not played in the last two preseason games but was seen at practice this week. With Lloyd sidelined, Emanuel Wilson, who has also been dealing with a hip injury, will serve as Josh Jacobs's primary backup. Jacobs, a key offseason acquisition for the Packers with a four-year, $48 million contract, is expected to carry the bulk of the workload in the backfield. Given the circumstances, Jacobs should be considered an RB1 for this week's matchup against the Eagles.

Sep 4 1:40pm ET

Green Bay Packers running backs MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) and Emanuel Wilson (hip) were both listed as limited at practice on Wednesday. The Packers held Lloyd out as part of their plan in the first practice of the week on Tuesday, and the fact he's back in the fold on a limited basis on Wednesday means he's on track to suit up for his first regular-season NFL game in Brazil on Friday night versus the Philadelphia Eagles. The 23-year-old missed valuable development time in training camp and the preseason due to his hamstring injury, but with AJ Dillon (neck) done for the year, he should take over RB2 duties from Wilson sooner than later behind starter Josh Jacobs. Lloyd is the better bench stash in Green Bay's backfield than Wilson, although he shouldn't be trusted in starting fantasy lineups in Week 1 against Philly.

Sep 3 3:00pm ET

Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) did not practice on Tuesday as he continues to work through a hamstring injury. However, head coach Matt LaFleur said this was a planned absence and part of his preparation to play. The third-round rookie out of USC is an intriguing bench stash behind starter Josh Jacobs, as Green Bay has preferred to split touches in the backfield during LaFleur's tenure. However, Lloyd battling injuries to begin his career is not a great sign, and it wouldn't be surprising if he's sparsely utilized in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles -- if he even suits up. He might have fantasy value this season, but he should not be trusted in starting lineups this week.

Sep 1 3:50pm ET

Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) returned to practice on Sunday. The 23-year-old had been battling a hamstring injury, although he avoided entering the 2024-25 campaign on the injured reserve list. Josh Jacobs is the No. 1 running back on the depth chart. But with backup AJ Dillon (neck) out for the year, Lloyd and Emanuel Wilson will be looking to get routine snaps throughout the season. However, unless Jacobs were to suffer an injury ahead of the Week 1 meeting with the Eagles, neither player can be trusted from a fantasy standpoint.

Aug 27 8:20pm ET

Green Bay Packers rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) avoided starting his rookie on Injured Reserve and has made the 53-man roster. Meanwhile, running back AJ Dillon (neck) landed on IR and will miss the entire 2024 season. This is a pretty big turn of events for Green Bay's backfield, as it was initially expected that Lloyd was going to miss at least the first four weeks of the season. The 23-year-old third-rounder could still be eased in to begin his first year in the NFL, but this news makes him a much more intriguing late-round flier in upcoming fantasy drafts, especially if you select starter Josh Jacobs. When healthy, Lloyd will compete with Emanuel Wilson for a change-of-pace role behind Jacobs, but Lloyd is fully expected to be Green Bay's No. 2 by the end of the year. He missed most of training camp and the preseason with hip and hamstring ailments.

From RotoBaller

Aug 26 10:30pm ET

Green Bay Packers rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) will likely start the season on Injured Reserve. If his recovery takes longer than expected, Green Bay could use one of their two pre-cutdown IR spots for him, allowing them to keep Josh Jacobs, AJ Dillon, and Emanuel Wilson on the initial 53-man roster. Wilson has demonstrated reliability as a third running back and can fill in when needed. By placing Lloyd on IR, he could be eligible to return after Week 4, giving him the chance to recover from his challenging hamstring injury fully. Lloyd has potential as Green Bay's future running back and could be the No. 2 option in 2024 once he's healthy. If anything happens to Jacobs this season, he's worth watching as a high-upside lottery ticket.

Aug 13 3:00pm ET

Green Bay Packers rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) went down in the team's preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns after just a lone carry this weekend, and there isn't a whole lot of clarity regarding a timeline for his hamstring injury. When asked about Lloyd's short-term health on Tuesday, head coach Matt LaFleur responded, "He will not be practicing." When asked about a long-term outlook on Lloyd, LaFleur reiterated, "He will not be practicing." The lack of transparency does dump some cold water on Lloyd's case as a late-round sleeper in fantasy drafts this summer. While there is optimism the third-round pick will be ready to go in time for the regular season, his absence means he's missing out on valuable reps in training camp and exhibition play, while also giving veteran AJ Dillon a chance to take a hold of the RB2 job behind workhorse starter Josh Jacobs.

Aug 12 1:30pm ET

Green Bay Packers rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury in the team's preseason opener on Saturday against the Cleveland Browns, but the injury isn't viewed as serious, and Lloyd should be fine for the start of the regular season in early September. However, hamstring injuries can be tricky, so the Packers will be cautious with him. It's good news that Lloyd should be ready for Week 1, but his latest injury pretty much ensures that he'll open his rookie season in the NFL as the RB3 for the Packers behind starter Josh Jacobs and AJ Dillon. The 23-year-old was the team's fourth RB to get a touch on Saturday behind Jacobs, Dillon and Emanuel Wilson. There's a good chance he'll be held out of the second preseason game this Sunday in Denver against the Broncos. When healthy, Lloyd has a real opportunity to surpass Dillon as Green Bay's RB2 in 2024 because of his explosiveness.

Aug 10 6:50pm ET

Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) was forced to exit early during Saturday's preseason matchup against the Cleveland Browns. The rookie back only saw two touches before exiting the contest. The organization will likely have Lloyd undergo further testing before knowing the severity of the injury. He's competing for a spot on the roster behind Josh Jacobs and AJ Dillon.

From RotoBaller

Aug 6 2:30pm ET

Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd had a drop and a fumble during the first-team period at training camp on Tuesday. It was a rough day at practice for Lloyd, who also got thumped on a run stop by rookie linebacker Ty'Ron Hopper on Tuesday, per Andy Herman. It seemed earlier in the offseason that AJ Dillon was shaping up as the odd man out and a cap casualty in Green Bay's revamped backfield, but there's been some speculation that the veteran will end up as the Packers' No. 2 back over Lloyd this fall. The 22-year-old rookie third-rounder will certainly need to have better showings at camp if he wants be more than a minimally used change-of-pace option in 2024. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on Saturday's preseason opener against the hosting Cleveland Browns for more clarity on who the favorite is for touches behind workhorse starter Josh Jacobs.

From RotoBaller

Aug 2 3:00pm ET

Green Bay Packers rookie third-round running back MarShawn Lloyd flashed on Thursday why offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich said this offseason that the team needs to get him on the field. Lloyd took a run against the starters up the middle and cut left before darting up the sideline for what probably would've been a long run of about 50 yards, and he also reeled in a pass over the middle that was slightly high, showcasing a pass-catching ability the Packers value. Lloyd's shiftiness and burst have stood out since the offseason program, and his total skill set might be enough to unseat veteran AJ Dillon as the primary backup to workhorse Josh Jacobs. There's been plenty of positive coach speak on both Lloyd and Dillon during camp, with the latter shaping up as the preferred pick in best ball drafts in Green Bay's upstart offense. Dillon has been rumored to be a potential cap casualty this summer.
