2024 RTSports Outlook

The Bills hope to have found their top backup to James White with the selection of Davis in this year's draft. Davis is a solid three-down back. He has good size for the position and can do well between the tackles. He also catches the ball well and does well after contact. Davis lacks a little vision, though, and can take a little to get to the next level, lacking a little explosiveness. Look for Davis to be No. 2 or 3 on the depth chart his rookie year.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Davis could get a few hundred total yards and some scores, but don't expect a big season as long as White is around and healthy. He might be worth a draft pick in deep formats.

Buffalo Bills running back Ray Davis "could have a sneaky-big impact" in 2024, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com. The Kentucky product was selected with the 128th overall pick in last month's draft and has impressive power behind his 5-foot-8, 211-pound frame. One NFL scout told Fowler that Davis is a "great complement to [James] Cook and should get a lot of goal-line and short-yardage work, which should result in some touchdowns." Cook is a fine runner, but he struggled in goal-line and short-yardage situations last year, delivering just two touchdowns. On the other hand, he emerged as a real receiving threat, catching 44 passes for 445 yards through the air. It's easy to envision a scenario where the Bills rely on Cook on early downs and in passing situations before turning to Davis when they need a physical back to secure a few yards. Such a backfield dynamic would drop Cook to the RB2 tier in fantasy football while Davis could sneak into RB3/FLEX territory.

Dynasty | The Buffalo Bills drafted Kentucky running back Ray Davis in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. Dynasty Analysis: Davis is one of the easiest players to root for in the entire draft and his dream of playing in the NFL is now a reality. Davis should slot in nicely behind James Cook and could quickly pass the likes of Ty Johnson and Darrynton Evans on the depth chart. While he has little chance of taking a lot of work away from Cook early in his career, he looks like a solid handcuff at worst and could be an injury away from relevance. As such, Davis looks like a solid mid-round pick in a rookie draft.
