2024 RTSports Outlook

The addition of Dalton Kincaid made Knox more of a reserve last season, getting the least work of his career. He had 22 receptions for 186 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games. He did not have more than 40 yards in a single game. Knox did have two games with double-digit fantasy points. Knox is expected to serve a similar role this year with the emergence of Kincaid in the Bills offense. Knox is a good route runner that can make plays down the field. He has plus hands and does well as a blocker. He can be an asset to the running game as well as a solid red-zone target.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Knox is not draft material with Kincaid around. He might get around 30 receptions for 350 yards and a few scores.

Buffalo Bills tight end Dawson Knox likely knows a reduced role is on the way again for him in 2024, although he is a favorite of quarterback Josh Allen's in the locker room, so it remains to be seen how much he'll be on the sidelines in favor of second-year tight end Dalton Kincaid. Allen may need to rely on Kincaid more to pick up a big amount of slack to keep the offense moving with an unproven receiver unit this year. Buffalo moved away from heavy usage of 12 personnel early in 2023 and mostly settled into 11 personnel. If that's the plan again in 2024, it will be interesting to see how they divvy up the snaps between Kincaid and Knox. Either way, unless Kincaid misses time with an injury, it's going to be hard to justify starting Knox outside of two-TE leagues.

The Buffalo Bills and tight end Dawson Knox agreed to a reworked contract on Monday that lessens his $14.4 million salary cap hit in 2024, according to a source. Knox is going into Year 2 of a four-year, $52 million contract extension with the Bills. After the team drafted Dalton Kincaid last year, Knox's fantasy value took a huge hit. The 27-year-old former third-round selection in 2019 out of Mississippi caught a career-low 22 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns on 36 targets in 12 regular-season games in 2023. Knox had career-highs in receiving yards (587) and touchdowns (nine) in 2021, but coming anywhere close to those numbers is out the window now as long as Kincaid stays healthy and Knox remains in Buffalo.

Buffalo Bills tight end Dawson Knox (illness) did not participate in Thursday's practice due to an illness, but he was removed from the injury report on Friday and will be active for Monday's Super Wild Card Weekend game versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. Knox played second fiddle to impressive rookie Dalton Kincaid throughout the regular season, and that's unlikely to change during the postseason. 2023 was easily the 27-year-old former Pro Bowler's weakest statistical campaign, averaging 1.8 receptions for 15.5 yards (8.5 yards per catch) with two total touchdowns over 12 games. Even with starting wideout Gabe Davis (knee) sidelined on Monday coupled with a cheap $2,900 DraftKings salary, it's not enough to make Knox relevant outside of single-game DFS showdowns as a TD-dependent dart throw. Unless you're searching for a contrarian option, Knox should be avoided.

Buffalo Bills tight end Dawson Knox (illness) came down with an illness on Thursday and did not practice with the rest of the team. Knox still has a few more days to get ready for Sunday's wild-card playoff game against the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, but he could end up with a questionable tag on Friday's final injury report. Since returning from a wrist injury in Week 14, Knox caught seven of his eight targets for 88 yards and one touchdown in five games. He only played over 50 percent of the offensive snaps in one of those five games and will most likely continue to cede playing time to rookie Dalton Kincaid in the playoffs if he's feeling better by Sunday's game. Kincaid is the much better DFS lineup option, especially if receiver Gabe Davis (knee) is unable to play against Pittsburgh.
