2024 RTSports Outlook

A move to Washington didn't exactly get things going for Wentz. He started seven games but had some struggles once again. His main issue was accuracy, finishing fourth in football in bad percentage throws (20 percent). Wentz has some big games while starting, but was erratic. He had two games with 30-plus fantasy points, topping 300-passing yards three times. He also had multiple interceptions three times and failed to top 200-passing yards four of his eight games played. Wentz has plenty of starting experience but might be running out of time to keep starting. He could be heading to backup material after the last few seasons. Wentz is a big quarterback with a plus arm but also has the athletic ability to make plays with his legs. He normally limits turnovers and completes a high percentage of his passes but has struggled some in both areas the last few seasons, seeing his play take a step backwards. Injuries are always a concern for Wentz, playing a full season just three times.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Wentz is erratic when starting, making him a tough fantasy player to trust. He might be worth a spot start in the right matchup, but needs to have a starting job first.

Free-agent quarterback Carson Wentz signed an undisclosed deal one-year with the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday, according to sources. Wentz, the former second overall pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2016 out of North Dakota State will head to the Super Bowl-champion Chiefs after spending the 2023 season with the Los Angeles Rams, where he played in two games (one start) while going 17-for-24 for 163 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. The 31-year-old figures to be Patrick Mahomes' primary backup heading into training camp this summer, with Chris Oladokun and Ian Book also in KC's QB room. Wentz made his lone Pro Bowl in 2017 and was looking like Philly's QB of the future until injuries flipped the script. He never was able to recover after Nick Foles and the Eagles won a Super Bowl without him.

Rams' QB Carson Wentz scored 28.75 fantasy points in Sunday's Week 18 win in San Francisco. Wentz threw for 163 yards on 17-of-24 with two touchdowns and one interception. It's the 1st time this season Wentz scored at least 25 fantasy points in a game.

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Carson Wentz got the start and produced in the team's 21-20 win against the San Francisco 49ers. Wentz completed 17 of his 24 pass attempts for 163 yards and two touchdowns through the air. He also rushed the ball an alarming 17 times for 56 yards and a touchdown on the ground. The veteran QB started in place of Matthew Stafford as a result of the team clinching a playoff berth. While Wentz will not get on the field unless Stafford suffers an injury in their playoff matchup with the Detroit Lions, he proved that he can still perform at a moderately high level.

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Carson Wentz will start for the team in Week 18 with Matthew Stafford resting for the playoffs. Wentz will make his first start in over a year when he threw three interceptions in a loss against the Cleveland Browns. He now faces the top-seed San Francisco 49ers, who will be short-handed defensively. Considering their clinching of the playoffs, the Niners could rest players or play them cautiously on Sunday. Factoring in the Rams' aggressive pass attack and Wentz's ability to throw the ball downfield, he is worth a DFS play or a desperate Week 18 start.

The Los Angeles Rams will start veteran quarterback Carson Wentz for the Week 18 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. Matthew Stafford will get the week off as he prepares for another postseason run. L.A. has already qualified for the playoffs, but they can not earn any spot higher than the No. 6 seed. However, if the Rams lose and the Packers win on Sunday, L.A. will be dropped to the No. 7 seed. Either way, the decision is to roll with Wentz, who hasn't started a game in over a full calendar year. The 2016 No. 2 overall pick has thrown 151 touchdowns to 66 interceptions in stints with the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, and Washington Commanders during his seven-year NFL career prior to this season.

The Los Angeles Rams officially agreed to terms with quarterback Carson Wentz on Wednesday and added him to their active roster. In a corresponding move, the team waived QB Brett Rypien. The 30-year-old Wentz most recently went 172-for-276 for 1,755 yards, 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions in nine games (eight starts) for the Washington Commanders in 2022. He started all 17 regular season games for the Indianapolis Colts the year prior, throwing for 3,563 yards with 27 TDs and seven interceptions. The former No. 2 overall pick in 2016 by the Philadelphia Eagles out of North Dakota State is expected to serve as the backup to Matthew Stafford (thumb), although Stafford may not necessarily be ready to go coming out of the team's Week 10 bye.

Nov 7 2:40pm ET

Veteran free agent quarterback Carson Wentz is expected to sign with the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams are releasing Dresser Wynn and are adding Wentz in a corresponding move. This comes after Matthew Stafford (thumb) suffered a thumb injury in Week 8 and Brett Rypien struggled mightily in the Week 9 game against the Green Bay Packers (130 yards, one interception). Wentz began his career with the Philadelphia Eagles before one season with the Indianapolis Colts and Washington Commanders. Last season, Wentz threw for 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions in seven starts for Washington. The former No. 2 overall pick remained unsigned this year until this point. If Stafford can't come back soon after the team's Week 10 bye, there's a real shot Wentz could draw a start or two in Sean McVay's offense.
