Draft Rules
Draft Attendance:
Draft attendance is mandatory. The draft day will be announced near the end of the previous season. You need to make whatever arrangements you can to be there. If you cannot make it on the day of the draft you can either have someone draft for you (that is not in our league) or you forfeit your team and we will find another team owner. You must also make plans to stay till the very end of the draft. (Unless there is a serious emergency)
Draft Procedures:
The Draft order is picked 1 to 2 weeks before the draft day. We will require at least half the league to be present to qualify the results. The draft order is done by putting everyone’s name in one hat and 12 numbers in another. A person will pick a name and then a number to determine the draft order.
The day of the draft each team will have 15 (2018) picks to make. There will be 30 seconds between picks (timed) 5 minutes between rounds. If you don’t pick within the 1 minute you will lose your turn and have to wait till the draft is over to make up the pick.
The draft is serpentine it 1-12 then 12-1 ex: if you are pick number 9th in first round then you are 16th in the second round
There is no max on how many players you can draft in a certain position but remember when drafting you have to have the minimum number of players for your line-up which is 9 (1 QB, 2RB, 2 WR, 1TE, 1K, 1 Defense and 1 Flex position) It’s your responsibility to watch your draft if you don’t have the minimums you will have to give up a player and pick the position player at the end of the draft from the players that are left.
ACTIVE OWNER CLAUSE
- If the commissioner has not heard from you (by phone, e-mail or web evidence) or your authorized
representative for 3 consecutive weeks (no transactions or lineup changes) you may be declared an inactive owner,
banished from the league, and your team repurchased by the league on a pro-rata basis and resold or dissolved. It is unfair to the active owners to have a disinterested owner. This becomes especially critical as the season winds down and you find yourself "out" of the running. You may appoint a designated representative in writing to the commissioner any time prior to a known absence.
Keeper Rules:
1. ONE keeper can be kept each season.
2. Keepers must be selected from the 5th round and beyond. The keeper counts for that round in the next year’s draft.
4. Beginning this year (2011) players who were not drafted but picked up during the year as free agents are eligible to be keepers beginning this season (2011). The price for keeping a player that was not drafted will be a 10th round draft choice (2014) in the following year’s draft.
Example: Julius Thomas – was picked up on the waiver wires this past year…If Mike Morgan wants to keep him next year, it will cost Mike a 10th round draft pick in the 2014 draft.
*Only players that are on your roster at the end of week 13 will be eligible to be keepers. Any Free agent pickups during the playoff weeks (14-16) will not be eligible as keepers. Everyone will receive a copy of their roster with potential keepers at the end of each season or prior to following season.
7. Keepers are declared at the draft order pick party or two weeks prior to the draft (whichever comes first) to
allow other owners to formulate their draft strategy.
Pre-draft trading
After the draft slot selection and up to the actual draft every team will have the opportunity to make a trade for a potential keeper. If you are not satisfied with your keeper choices from last year or the potential keepers on your roster, then you can look at everyone’s final roster from last year and attempt to make a trade using draft picks or potential keepers from your own team. We are limiting this to 1 transaction per team. If you are involved in any trade (whether getting a potential keeper or getting draft pick(s) for yours) that is your 1 transaction.
Regular Season draft picks trading (2012)
New Rule for 2012: When trading players for future draft picks during the regular season, each owner can obtain a maximum of 2 draft picks which cannot be higher than the 5th round of the following year draft. This will also be known as the PAXOS RULE
Flex Player (2010)
Instead of 8 (QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, TE, K, D) there will be 9 in your starting lineup. The 9th position (FLEX) can be any other position you want (RB, WR, TE) (2014 eliminated FLEX QB). Because of this rule there will be some other changes:
Waiver Wire Pickups
Beginning this year (2011) the Waiver wire procedure will be done in an auction format. At the end of Week 1 of the regular season, waiver wire bidding will open. Each team will be given a preset monetary fund (imaginary) of $200 dollars. With this money, you can bid on Free Agents that you would like to pick up. The Bidding will begin on Tuesday at 12:00 PM of each week of the regular season and the bidding will end on Wednesday at 9:00 PM (2016) of each week.
Once the bidding has ended, each team will be awarded their Free Agents based on the highest bid for that player. In the event of bids of the same amount, player will be awarded to the team with the worst record, if records are also the same the team with lowest total points will be awarded the player.
Regular (free) waiver wire pickups will resume on Saturday of each week at 12:00 PM up until kickoff of the Sunday games at 1:00 PM EST. There will be a limit of 3 free player pickups per week (2018)
When your team has run out of auction money, you will not be allowed to bid on free agents, your team will have to wait until Saturday at 12:00 PM to pick up any free agents that are still available.
Each team also can include waiver wire auction money as part of any trade or trade auction money for player(s)
