League Bylaws

Jabroni Mix 2023

All right, boys and girls, you know which one you are. The fantasy league you hate to love is back for its 23rd season. The draft will be on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at 9amET(8amCT)(Note: Pay attention to the time and Time zone they are set in.) Anything new will be in BOLD print.

Draft

  1. You will only have 90 seconds for each pick. If your timer expires, the next team picks, then you can choose again.
  2. The draft will consist of 15 rounds.
  3. If you have a keeper. I will remove the draft pick for the corresponding round for that keeper.
  4. Please show up to the draft on time—it has been taking longer than it should for the last couple of years. If you have any issues, please inform me before the start of the draft.

Keepers

Each returning team was allowed to keep one player on last year's roster but not drafted in the top five rounds. The player they decided to keep will cost them the draft pick of the round that player was drafted in, minus 4 rounds. That will also be the same for this year, so keep that in mind during the draft. Of course, if you decide to keep a player for the 2nd year in a row, you will lose an additional 4 rounds. If possible, a 3rd year will cost you another 5 rounds. Keepers can only be kept for a max of 3 years. If your keeper is hurt before the draft starts, you can replace him with someone else from your keeper list. There are rules regarding free-agent pickups and their keeper status (Read Blind Bidding). Here are the owners, their keepers, and what draft pick they will not have.

Schedule

  1. Since there are no divisions, you play each opponent in your conference once and randomly play five opponents a second time. Fourteen games are played in total during the regular season.
  2. Playoffs start Week 15 of the NFL season and last till Week 17. Four teams in each conference will make the playoffs.
  3. Everyone else goes to a loser's bracket playoff. In the 1st round of the Sewer Bowl playoffs, seeds 1, 4, and 6 will play each other, and seeds 2, 3, and 5 will play each other. This way, the Jabroni Bowl and Sewer Bowl playoffs will end in Week 17.

Rules/Website

You can click "Rules" on the website to know the rules.

Starting Lineup Composition

  1. The starting lineup will look like this - 1QBs, 2RBs, 2WRs, 1TE, 1 WR/TE, 1DEF, and 2FLEX. (One FLEX position is any player, including a QB. The second FLEX position will be any position, excluding a QB. Defense can be used in the FLEX position spot as well.

NOTE: Playing an illegal lineup will result in your highest-scoring player that is illegal being removed from your lineup and not replaced if games have already been played.

Waiver Wire Blind Bidding Against Waiver Wire Cap /Plus Free Agent Pickups

  1. The blind bid process is handled directly through the website. Each team owner may submit a blind bid for any available free agent. Each winning bid will be deducted from a season-long bidding cap ($500) that the commissioner established. A team owner will no longer be able to bid on free agents once their season-long waiver wire cap has been spent. This waiver wire bidding cap is separate from any league fees your league may have in place. Awarding of free agents begins with the highest bid by any team for a free agent. Once that free agent has been awarded to the winning bidder, all other bids for that free agent are discarded as losing bids. Then the highest remaining bid by any team for any remaining free agent will be considered. That winning bid will be awarded the free agent, and all losing bids for that free agent will be discarded. This continues until the lowest valid bid remaining is considered. A team may acquire any number of players per waiver wire (waiver wire will be held daily, Wed-Fri). Bidding ties are broken by awarding the free agent to the first of the tied bids submitted. The minimum bid will be $1.00
  2. A player can be released during one waiver wire period and picked up the next waiver wire period.
  3. If a player is dropped during a waiver wire period, has Keeper eligibility(drafted in the 6th-16th rds), and is picked up during the same week, the player will keep its Keeper status(even if picked back up by the same team). If a player is dropped on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, OR Monday, that player can keep their keeper status if picked up on 1st day of bidding of the following week (Wednesday), even if picked up by the same team that dropped him.
  4. All bids must be in by 7 pm ET on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The waiver wire and free agency pickups start in week one and go on for the rest of the season, including playoffs.
  5. Starting Saturday at 9 am until Monday Night game time, owners can make free-agent pickups outside the blind bid process. Each pickup will cost $1 from your blind bidding cash and will be manually deducted by the commissioner. Complete these free-agent moves using the website's Add/Drop Players section.
  6. This is not new, but maybe not as well known. A player released on Friday (after blind bidding has been completed), Saturday, Sunday, or Monday would not be eligible to be picked up until the next blind bidding session the following Wednesday.
  7. To discourage owners from abusing this part of the system, if a player is picked up during the free agency period (Saturday-Monday), then dropped before that player's game, the succeeding pickup will cost $10 from that owner's blind bidding cap (unless the dropped player was ruled OUT of the game).
  8. During the playoffs, the Blind bidding process (Wed-Fri) will only be used by participants in the Jabroni Bowl Playoffs. Sewer (Toliet) Bowl participants will be allowed to make pickups during free agency pickups (Sat-Mon).

Trades

  1. Trading can be done between two owners on the website. Even though the commissioner does not have to approve the trade to go through, I still hold veto rights. If I have reason to believe the trade was made in collusion, that trade will be reversed. Trades made by an owner proven to give up on the season will also not be allowed. This owner will not be invited back the following season.
  2. Loaning and borrowing players will no longer be allowed either. If you trade a player, that player cannot be traded back to you for three weeks. Example: Trade a player in week 1; you cannot trade for that player back until week 4.
  3. No, we do not reverse trades some owners deem stupid or if they make no sense in your opinion. Each owner is allowed to run their team the way they think is best, as long as they try their best, whether you approve or not.
  4. Trading for future draft picks is not allowed.
  5. The weekly trades deadline will be Saturday at 11:59 pm ET.
  6. The trading deadline is set for Week 10.
  7. Trades involving any pick in any round for which a keeper is being kept are prohibited. This is a form of manipulating the system and increasing the value of a keeper. Also, if trades were made that involved swapping picks with owners of the last pick of your keeper round, it would present an unfair advantage for these owners. Example: If I own the 10th pick in the round that you lose your pick for your keeper, I could offer you my 10th pick for your earlier pick, and then we would most likely swap the next round so that you would get an earlier pick. This would be an unfair advantage for the owners with the end-of-round picks(1st & 10th picks). They could offer deals to all the other owners of keepers to move up in certain rounds that involve keepers.
  8. Blind bid money cannot be included in any trade.

Tiebreaker System

Select two other non-starting players or defenses as your tiebreakers when setting your starting lineup. Here's how the tiebreakers will work:

  1. Highest combined score of the tiebreaker players.
  2. Highest score between the tiebreaker players.
  3. Highest scorer of the remaining players on the bench.
  4. Highest total team score.
  5. God forbid, a coin toss.

Tie-Breakers for playoff spots will go like this:

  1. Head to Head
  2. Pts Scored
  3. Pts Scored Head to Head
  4. God forbid a coin toss

Injured Reserve

1. Only two injured reserved spots are allowed per team. Eligibility to be placed on the IR will require that the player is listed as OUT on the official NFL injury report (https://www.nfl.com/injuries/ - Friday for Sunday games, Saturday for Monday games), announced as OUT on GameDay, or on the COVID list. This also includes any players on injured reserve and the PUP list. It will be up to YOU to get the player added to IR before the start of their game that week.

2. If a player did not play (ruled OUT), that player is eligible to remain/be placed on the IR until the following week's injury report. The player can also stay on the IR if the player is on BYE the following week.

Scoring

If a player scores outside the listed range in the rules, the needed range will be introduced following the already-established pattern.

Consider your league fee as NON-REFUNDABLE. Once the season starts, your team is paid for, but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll be the one that finishes with it. Suppose there are times during the season you are not making necessary moves to field a competitive team (installing a full starting lineup, making free agent pickups to fill the roster, etc.). In that case, I will remove you from the league and give your team to someone in waiting. It should be an easy sell since your team will already be paid for, and the new owner will still have a shot at winning money. In the worst-case scenario, if I can't find a new owner, I will arrange for the team to be run temporarily by a few select owners in the opposite conference.
