The Beer Boy Fantasy Football League Constitution (Revised 2023)
We the League of the BBFFL, founded this great pastime for the sole purpose of having fun with the guys and escaping “reality” each and every Sunday from September to February.
ARTICLE I.
i. The Ante - Beginning with the 2022 Fantasy Football Season, the entry fee is $250.00. The entry fee is subject to change with a majority of votes. There are twelve teams in the League. The total amount collected for League dues is $3000 to cover the year end prize money described in section xxiv. The league management costs of our website, the draft board, trophy engravings etc. will be deducted from the free agent pool money. Each owner must pay the Commissioner the full amount (in cash or Venmo if possible) on the day of the draft. Unfortunately, our Great League is not without its share of deadbeats who always come to the draft without any money whatsoever. These deadbeats must pay ALL money owed to the Commissioner by the End of the Year Party. The Draft time and location will be determined each year based on everyone’s availability but we generally target the Friday or Saturday of Labor Day Weekend starting at about noon each year. For 2023, the Draft will be held on Friday, September 1st at 1 pm.
ii. Internet - The website is www.webleaguemanager.com. The league’s scoring system and message board can be found there. All owners should try to throw in their two cents worth of good natured banter on the message board each week. The scoring breakdown can also be found in rule xxvi.
iii. Amusement - Having fun is not only required but it is mandatory!
iv. Trash Talking - Ridicule is highly encouraged on Draft Day and throughout the season.
v. Team Names - The League winner may choose the theme for the following year's team names. For 2022, our league theme was anything Seinfeld-related. For 2023, it was "Disasters." Owners can reveal their team names in any way they want after July 1st: post it on the message board, show up in costume, play walk up music of the movie's theme song on Draft Day etc.
vi. Tardy Owners – Each owner(s) that is late for the official start time of a Draft must serve “at least” one round of “Beer Boy” duty at the draft.
vii. Draft Position Lottery -Draft positions will be done by random Lottery. The annual "Rolling of the Balls" will take place at the Season Ending Party with as many of the other owners as can be present. 2021 we decided first ball out picked whatever draft slot he wanted, 2nd ball out picked his draft slot next, etc. Last ball out picked any spot he wanted (including any other owner's draft slot).
viii. The Draft – It is a 20 round draft and you are required to draft 20 players. You must draft a starting lineup consisting of 1 QB, 2RBs, 2WRs, 1 “flex” player (either an extra RB, WR or an extra TE), 1 TE, 1 K, and 1 Defense. You may draft any player at any position you choose in any order you choose. Once the 20 round draft is officially complete, you may select a 21st player from the remaining players, See rule ix. Once the 21st round is completed, you may add and drop players for free until kick off of the first game of the season. If you do not pick up a new player before the season's first kickoff, you are stuck with him and must abide by rule xiii.
ix. Extra Player – This is “optional” and any owner may (but is not required to) choose a 21st round pick for and extra $10.00 which will be added to the Free Agent pool. Once the 20th round draft is officially completed, all interested in making the 21st round selection must pay $10.00 and their names will be randomly drawn out of a hat to establish the 21st round drafting order for the “stiffs” remaining.
x. Injured Reserve - If a player is placed on NFL's Injured Reserve, the owner can place that player on BBFFL Injured Reserve for $10 up to midseason. If he wishes to keep that player on BBFFL Injured Reserve after midseason (after week 9), he must pay another $20.
x. Keepers - An owner may keep one player whom he drafted the previous year. You may keep this player for only “one” year and you must forfeit a pick 5 rounds higher than you drafted him the previous year. To be an eligible keeper, the player must have been drafted and kept by the same manager for the entire year and must be a 6th to 21th round pick. Your Keeper is not eligible as a Sleeper Pick. Rosters are final as of midnight on draft day. Therefore, all players who are traded on draft day can be kept as a Keeper BUT the team declaring a draft-day-traded player his "keeper" must forfeit the highest round pick between the two teams. Keepers may be traded. Team acquiring a Keeper must forfeit a pick 5 rounds higher the next year as if he drafted that keeper at the same round as the prior owner who drafted the keeper. New for 2021, an owner can select a free agent pick up that is on his roster in the last week of the season as his "Keeper" for the next season, but he must forfeit his THIRD round pick for that free agent Keeper.
xi. The Chris Lima Rule – During the Draft, once an owner places a sticker on the Draft Board for a player, his selection is official for that round. For example, if you stick Kevin Faulk’s sticker on the Draft Board as your first round draft pick (but you “meant” to put Marshall Faulk’s sticker on the Board), not only will you be properly ridiculed, you will be stuck with Kevin Faulk as your first round selection and be given a round for stupidity.
xii. Lineups – All players in your line-up at KICK OFF/GAME TIME are automatically locked into your line up for that week or, if you do not have access to the website, you may call in your lineup to the Commissioner or your opponent before the start of each game. For example: If you have multiple players to choose from on Monday night, you no longer have to have them in your line up by 1:00pm on Sunday. You can now have flexibility in your line up until game time on Monday night. My work number is (508) 384-2008 and my cell is (508) 954-4969. Each owner must play 1 QB, 2RBs, 2WRs, 1 “flex” player (either an extra RB or an extra WR or extra TE), 1 TE, 1 K, and 1 Defense each week.
xiii. Free Agents - May be picked up through the end of the regular season. In order to pick up a free agent and initiate the bidding, you must post that you are bidding on that player for that week on the message board no sooner than Tuesday morning at 6 am and no later than Friday night at midnight of that player's game that same week that the player is scheduled to play. Any other owner wishing to bid on that player must also post on the message board that they are bidding on that player too and must place a bid on that player. Minimum bid for a player is $10 and all bids must be in increments of $1.00 (no cents). As of 2024, the bidding on free agents is done through the Waiver Wire tab under Teams. The owner with the highest blind bid for that player by midnight on Saturday of that week will be awarded that player for the amount of their bid. For Thursday night players only, the initial bids on the message board must be place by midnight on Wednesday but you must ALSO submit your blind bid for that Thursday night player to beerboyffl@yahoo.com or Private Message the Commissioner no later than 2 hours before kick off of that Thursday night game that week. The owner with the highest blind bid submitted to the Commissioner or beerboyffl@yahoo.com by the deadline for that player wins that player. If two owners submit the same bid amount, the owner who submitted the first bid wins (because he was not outbid by the other owner.) Eligible owners can submit multiple blind bids through the week up to the deadline and each owner’s highest bid controls. You must POST on the message board to be eligible for the blind bidding for any player. If you fail to post on the message that you are bidding on that player, then you will be disqualified from the blind bidding for that player for that week.
Please note: if you pick up a free agent, you must drop ANOTHER player and keep the player you picked up for that week's game.
Monday night free agents: Monday night football free agent players are treated the same as Sunday night players for bidding timeline purposes. In other words, the highest bid submitted for a Monday night player must be made by 12 pm on Saturday through the Waiver wire.
Trades – Bartering is FREE and does NOT need the majority of owners’ approval. However, any trade can be vetoed if seven owners veto the trade within one week. Trades should only be vetoed if collusion appears evident and the trade is not objectively fair. Owners can trade a maximum of one future draft pick to another owner for a player on the other owner's team this year (2017). As of 2021, the TRADING DEADLINE is at the conclusion of the last game of fantasy week 17.
xiv. Betting - Side bets are encouraged but must be in writing to be official (Drunken, illegible chicken scratch at 2:00am generally will not suffice as neither party will have even a remote memory of what the hell the bet was months later). The Following bets are locked in annually unless otherwise nullified by a majority vote:

xv. Mid-season Draft – As of 2021, the Mid-season draft has been eliminated.
xvi. Pro Bowl - The Pro Bowl Week will be Week 14 (December 10th) and the following week will automatically be Toilet Bowl week (December 17, 2023). Each division must put in a lineup. Pro Bowl lineup will have 2 Flex positions in the lineup unlike the regular season which only has one Flex position in the starting lineup. Each team in the division must contribute at least one player to the Pro Bowl team and no team can contribute more than 2 players to the team. The division leader going into Pro Bowl week is designated Division Captain and has final say as to the division’s Pro Bowl lineup. The Captain can choose a bench player from another owner's team if he sees fit - the player does not have to be in a starting lineup to be selected to the Pro Bowl. The losing Division of the Pro Bowl pays the tab at the End of the Year Party. The Winning Pro Bowl Captain also wins the “Peanut Butter and Jelly Award” and gets $10 from each owner in his division.
xvii. Dream Team Bowl - Optional Week 17 Competition between any and all takers, including league members and non-league members. All self-proclaimed Fantasy Football gurus assemble a Week 17 lineup from all NFL players and teams and submit $10. Team with the most points at the end wins the pot. Tie splits the pot. There are 2 Flex positions in this contest.
xvii. Toilet Bowl - The Toilet Bowl (aka the All Stiffs Bowl) is SCHEDULED the week after the Pro Bowl. This works just the opposite of the Pro Bowl. The person in LAST place for their division in the week of the Toilet Bowl is the designated Division Captain and has the final say as to the OTHER DIVISION’S “all stiffs” lineup. The captain, usually after collaborating with the rest of his division, must select players from the other division’s starting lineups (again, at least one player from each team and no more than two from one team in accordance with rule xii.) in hopes that those players from the other division will suck and score very few points. Just like the Pro Bowl, 2 Flex positions will be used. The division whose lineup scores fewer points loses and must buy all the FOOD and Beers and “other libations” for the next year’s draft.
NOTE: For Toilet Bowl Week only, whichever players are in your starting lineups one hour before kick off of that player's game may be selected by the other Division’s Captain as starters for the “All Stiff’s Bowl.” (This allows the Division Captain at least 60 minutes to select the division’s lineup). If any owner changes his lineup within one hour before game time, he must notify the other Division's Captain so that the other Division's Captain has the opportunity to change the Toilet Bowl lineup if he wishes. No lineup changes made within 15 minutes of kick off of that player's game will be allowed on Toilet Bowl Week. (Chuck Stronach Rule). New for 2021, The Winning All-Stiff's Bowl Captain does NOT have to pay the other owners in his Division, while the Losing All-Stiff's Bowl Captain pays each of the owners in his Division $10.
NEW for 2022: The Toilet Bowl Captain can select an ENTIRE team from the other Division as the other Division's Toilet Bowl team. However, if that selected "entire" team wins the Toilet Bowl, the Toilet Bowl Captain who selected that team pays him $20 and the rest of that Captain's Division pays that "entire team" owner $10.
xviii. Beer Boy – Founded after the league’s name, the person with the fewest total points at the end of the season is officially dubbed Beer Boy for the following season and must serve everyone during “at least” the first two rounds and the last 3 rounds (19, 20, 21) of the next season’s draft, as well as the "break" half way through the Draft.
Also, the person with the worst record at the End of the Season must serve as Beer Boy for Rounds 17 and 18 of the Draft (2018 addition). Thereafter, Beer Boy rounds will be given to the following individuals: the last owner to publish his team name via email or on the message board, any owner who arrives late for the draft (rule vi.), or any owner who commits an act of stupidity so egregious during the draft that a majority of owners vote that owner a round of “Beer Boy” duty. Beer Boy rounds for idiocy are not limited to the draft Day only, but can be voted on all year long.
xix. The "Pink Lady" (added 2021) f/k/a Skunk - The Beer Boy (the person with the fewest total points at the end of the end of the season) is also deemed the League's "Pink Lady" and must wear the League's Pink Lady costume at the End of the Season Party. He is also awarded the Skunk mascot (stuffed animal) and must house the mascot until the following season.
xx. Arrested - If any NFL player is arrested during the course of the season, his owner must pay $10 toward the free agent pool (to bail him out of jail!). After the Super Bowl ends, owners are no longer responsible for their rostered players if they get arrested in the off-season (from day after the Super Bowl through BBFFL Draft Day).
xxi. Benched Star - If any player of the week is sitting on an owner’s bench that week, the owner must pay $10 toward the free agent pool (league stupidity tax).
xxii. Toilet Bowl Money - The person with the fewest points each week must pay $10 which will go toward the Playoffs at the end of the year.
xxiii. Playoffs - Starting in 2021, the playoff format will be that each owner must submit a Dream Team playoff lineup by kick off of the first playoff game of each weekend's games on the website. Once a playoff player is used, he cannot be used by that same owner again for the remainder of the playoffs. The three owners who accumulate the most points throughout the playoffs and Super Bowl win the price money for First and Second and Third Place as indicated in the Pay Out Section below.
xxiii. Stronach Brothers Rule: You can cannot trade a player to a team and then trade that player back to the same team any week thereafter. (No temporary "borrowing" of players allowed)! (New 2024)
