Additional Rules:
Playoffs and Tie-Breaker System
The top three teams in each conference will advance to the playoffs. The regular season champ in each conference will receive a first-round bye and have a 3.5 point (home field) advantage in the conference final which is NFL Week 16.
THe #2 seed in each conference will have a 3.5 point advantage against the #3 seed in the conference semi-final in NFL Week 15.
The teams that lose the conference semi-finals will oppose one another to determine 5th and 6th place. They will have two-week total points match-up. They will enter two different lineups if they choose to do so in NFL Weeks 16 and 17.
The teams that lose in the conference finals will oppose each other to determine 3rd and 4th place (NFL Week 17).
The two teams that win the conference finals will oppose each other in the DFL Super Bowl in NFL Week 17.
In all the above inter-conference match-ups the teams from the highest-scoring conferences will have a 1/2 point advantage in order to avoid ties.
The eight DFL owners who do not qualify for the playoffs will compete in a single-elimination tournament to determine 7th place which earns the Toilet Bowl title and a $$ prize (Three NFL weeks 15-17). Those teams will be seeded from 1st to 8th based on the number of points scored in the regular season. The higher seeded team will have a 3.5 point advantage. After each round, the teams are re-seeded again based on points scored in the regular season.
TIE-BREAKER SYSTEM
In the event the teams tie for playoff positions/seeds with identical records the following criteria will be used to determine final standing positions.
1 - Head-to-Head records
2 - Most wins
3 Most Conference wins
4 - Total points scored
5 - Coin toss
To break a tie, we go through each step until one team gains an advantage.
Example 1. Two teams tie for 3rd and 4th place at 8-6. They split the two games played against each other. The team that had the best conference record would win the tie-breaker.
Example 2. Two teams for third place. One team is 8-6, the other team is 7-5-2 ( a win is worth 2pts; a tie is worth 1pt. Assuming they split the two games played against each other, the 8-6 team would win the tiebreaker due to step 2 - most wins.
Example 3. Three teams tie for 3rd place all with 7-7 records. Team split with Team B but won both games against Team C. Teams B and C split their two games. Team A would have a 3-1 H_H record; Team B would have a 2-2 H-H record; Team C would have a 1-3 H-H record. Team A would win the tiebreaker.
If the tie involves three or more teams we go through the order until one team gains an advantage. If it is necessary to settle a tie between remaining teams, you repeat the process from step 1 excluding that team that gained the first advantage.
