ROSTERS
Each team has a 22-man roster limit.
PROTECTED PLAYERS
Prior to the draft, each team will announce its selections of 3 "keepers" from the current roster (which includes players from last year's team and any players acquired during the off-season). Teams may keep no more than one player at any one position (QB, RB, WR, TE, K or DT/ST). Players must be submitted to the Commissioner by 5 p.m. on the Sunday prior to the draft (so that the draft order and roster sheets may be finalized prior to the draft itself). If we have an expansion team, it will be allowed to choose from ALL the remaining non-rookie players once the established teams have protected their three; expansion teams will not be forced to inherit an abandoned team.
THE DRAFT
A 19-round player draft takes place annually at a time agreed upon by all teams. The draft order for the first round is based upon how teams finished the prior year. The first six picks of the first round will take place as a weighted lottery and will include all SIX teams that missed the playoffs. The team with the worst record will receive six chances at the first pick, the second-worst will receive five, and so on. Once a team gets a pick, its remaining chances are removed from consideration. The remaining four first round selections will be determined based on the teams' playoff progress. Draft order of rounds 2 through 19 will be predetermined by a random unweighted lottery selection that sets the position of the second round, from which all other rounds can be determined through a nifty mathematical system that none of us understand. Players eligible to be drafted include any individual quarterback (QB), running back (RB), wide receiver (WR), tight end (TE), kicker (K), and defensive team/special team (DT/ST). All special teams activities (aside from field goal kicking and 2 pt. conversions) is attributable to that team's defense.
GAME TIME
Our league uses a Custom, Head-to-Head, Points Based Scoring System. We have one "Head-to-Head" game per week (where your team must outscore an opponent's team), worth one "win." In addition, the top 5 scoring teams each week will get a win, so two total wins are available per week.
STARTING LINE-UPS
Every week, each team will start 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 FLEX (RB/WR/TE), 1 K and 1 DT/ST. Starting line-ups must be submitted online before any active player's game kicks off. Once a player's game begins, he cannot be moved into or out of a line-up.
PLAYER MOVEMENT / TRADES
Trading is permitted until the Wednesday AFTER Thanksgiving, at 9 p.m. (Week 13). After that, no trades may occur until after the (NFL's) Super Bowl. For a trade to occur, both parties must notify the commissioner and deputy commissioner. This provides a layer of protection and avoids any potential confusion. Due to the 22-man roster cap, in the case of an uneven "multi-player" trade (e.g., a 2-for-1), the team receiving the extra player(s) must drop a player(s) before the trade can take place. Trades for future draft choices are permitted, providing both teams involved in the trade pay next year's entry fees UP FRONT. No transactions will take place until the Treasurer receives BOTH teams' money.
DROP / ADD
Teams seeking to add a free agent(s) may do so up until our league's playoffs begin, providing that team drops a player(s) to keep its roster at 22. Once the playoffs begin, only playoff teams may add or drop players, and those players must be active by NFL standards and inserted into that team's line-up that week. In Week 18 for the $50 payout, all teams may once again add free agents -- but again, those players must be active by NFL standards and inserted into that team's line-up that week.
To request a free agent, you must put in your request at the league site on or before Tuesday (end of day) prior to a weekend's slate of games. The league's site will automatically calculate commissioner the waiver priority and execute requests Wednesday a.m., so that teams may use their new players in the coming week. Any requests made after Tuesday will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis until kickoff of that player's game for the week. Free agent transactions are unlimited, and no added fees will be charged.
PLAYOFFS / PAYOUTS
Four teams make the playoffs: each conference winner, plus the next two teams with the best record (wildcards), regardless of conference. If two teams have identical records at the end of week 15 (end of our regular season), the first tie-breaker considered will be head-to-head match-ups, followed by their record within their conference, IF they are both in the same conference. If not, "Points For" (for the season) will be the third determining factor. "Points Against" will be considered only if a tie still exists. The first round of this league's playoffs is the NFL's Week 16. The top seed plays the lowest-seeded wildcard team, and #2 plays #3. Winners advance to the FirstnTen Super Bowl, played during Week 17.
Prize Money: A total of $1,150 is at stake, with the pay-outs as follows: Top conference winner: $250; Next conference winner: $225; Top wild card team: $200; Next wild card team: $175. Each first-round playoff winner gets $50, and the Super Bowl champ gets $150 more.
As a bonus, all 10 teams are eligible to compete for a $50 prize in Week 18, which is awarded to the top-scoring team that week.
