Running Back Rank: #35 Overall: #111
Jacobs had a disappointing showing in 2009. He failed to top 100 yards in any game and scored just six touchdowns all season. This was after scoring 15 the year before. Jacobs lacked some burst and power last season, though, looking a bit slow. And it showed up in his stats, averaging just 3.7 yards per carry, which is way down from the five yards per carry he averaged the previous two years. He was slowed by a sore knee, which required surgery during the offseason. He'll be ready for the start of training camp. Jacobs has two 1,000-yard seasons under his belt, but seems to be fading a bit in the Giants offense. He will lose carries to Ahmad Bradshaw and Danny Ware. Jacobs is a big, bruising back with decent speed and the ability to run over would-be tacklers. Jacobs also has quick feet, which enables him to break some long runs despite his big size. He is a bit injury prone, playing a full season just once in his career.

Jacobs is more of a No. 2 back because he splits too much work. He'll be a little up and down but has good touchdown potential in a solid Giants offense. Jacobs should near double-digit scores and 1,000-rushing yards. Look for him to rebound some after a disappointing showing last season. |

| New York Giants RB Brandon Jacobs (neck) did not play Saturday, Aug. 21, due to a stiff neck, reports Ralph Vacchiano, of The New York Daily News. Jacobs suffered the injury while doing shoulder shrug exercises. Jacobs went for an MRI, which showed no damage to the discs and general manager Jerry Reese indicated the issue is just muscular. | New York Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw (ankles, feet) looks to be fully recovered from offseason surgeries on his feet and ankles, reports Ralph Vacchiano, of The New York Daily News. While everyone is ready to anoint him the team's No. 1 running back, Vacchiano doesn't sound as convinced. He noted just because Bradshaw has had a few good weeks over the summer, the Giants may not suddenly be ready to give him 15 carries per game. Provided RB Brandon Jacobs (neck) isn't seriously injured, Vacchiano still sees him as the team's No. 1 back that sees the early carries and most carries overall. Bradshaw has just carried the ball 253 times in his three-year career, while Jacobs has more than 200 carries in each of the last three seasons. |

| New York Giants RB Brandon Jacobs (knee) has not shown any lingering problems from knee surgery, reports Paul Schwartz, of The New York Post. Jacobs was a slower, hesitant version of himself a year ago, and the team believes a bad knee was the reason why. 'He looks good to me,' head coach Tom Coughlin said. |
| Fantasy Impact: Jacobs is healthy, but seems to have fallen to second on the depth chart, which doesn't help his fantasy value much at all. |
