Tanner Roark Aug 23 11:20am ET

Oakland Athletics starter Tanner Roark allowed two runs on seven hits across 6 1/3 innings during a 5-3 win over the New York Yankees on Thursday. He struck out seven batters without issuing a walk. The 32-year-old has been superb since joining the A's in a midseason trade. He owns a 2-1 record through four starts with his new club to go along with a 2.63 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 23/5 K/BB rate. His next appearance is projected to come against the lowly Kansas City Royals, making him a top streaming option for that contest.

Mark Canha Aug 23 11:20am ET

Oakland Athletics outfielder Mark Canha was 2-for-4 with two RBI during Thursday's 5-3 win over the New York Yankees. The 30-year-old is in the midst of a seven-game hit streak, seeing him bat .429 with two home runs and eight RBI over that span. Canha is slashing .269/.385/.517 on the season with 19 HRs, 43 RBI, and 54 runs scored. Despite the recent stretch of success, Canha is solely an option in AL-only formats or the deepest of mixed leagues.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Aug 23 11:10am ET

The Blue Jays may have lost in heartbreaking fashion on Thursday night as the Dodgers scored three in the bottom of the ninth to win 3-2, but at least Vladimir Guerrero Jr hit his 15th home run of the year while collecting three hits. Guerrero missed two games earlier in the week with left knee inflammation but has multiple hits in two of his three games since returning and is now slashing .282/.356/.477 on the year. Toronto and their parade of second-generation prospects continue their West Coast swing, traveling to Seattle for a weekend series with the Mariners.

Kenta Maeda Aug 23 11:10am ET

Los Angeles Dodgers starter Kenta Maeda allowed two runs on four hits across six innings of work during Thursday's 3-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. He struck out nine batters while walking one. The 31-year-old has had a rocky season, mixing in brilliant outings with complete disasters. He owns an 8-8 record to go along with a 4.13 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 146/44 K/BB rate. His high strikeout totals make him a worthwhile starter in most fantasy formats, but he is tough to trust against quality competition. Maeda has a decent matchup in his next projected start against the San Diego Padres, but he surrendered five runs to them back on August 4.

Corey Seager Aug 23 11:00am ET

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager was 1-for-4 with two RBI during Thursday's 3-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. He was hitless until his final at-bat of the night when he laced a two-run double down the right-field line to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. The 25-year-old has tallied 11 RBI over his past 15 games. He is slashing .272/.344/.465 on the season with 12 home runs, 57 RBI, and 63 runs scored. Seager is a premier offensive shortstop coming off of a gruesome injury in 2018. Expect him to finish the season on a high note.

Mike Soroka Aug 23 10:50am ET

Atlanta Braves starter Mike Soroka allowed two runs on five hits across seven innings of work during Thursday's 3-2 win over the Miami Marlins. He struck out five batters without issuing a walk. Soroka has now tossed five straight quality starts. He owns a 10-2 record on the season to go along with a 2.41 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 112/33 K/BB rate. The Canadian right-hander is one of the biggest fantasy surprises in 2019. He'll be an excellent option in his next projected start against the youthful Toronto Blue Jays.

Freddie Freeman Aug 23 10:50am ET

Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman was 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Thursday's 3-2 win over the Miami Marlins. The 29-year-old has hit five HRs over his past seven games. Freeman is in the midst of an outstanding season, slashing .304/.395/.575 with 34 HRs, 103 RBI, 100 runs scored, and five stolen bases. He is one of the most productive players in baseball and continues to raise his fantasy value for next season. He will look to keep it rolling against Jacob deGrom and the New York Mets on Friday.

Ariel Jurado Aug 23 8:40am ET

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Ariel Jurado had a weird night in Chicago as he allowed six runs but also threw an eight-inning complete game while taking the loss. Jurado allowed 10 hits and a walk but was efficient enough the Rangers left him in for eight innings. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, part of that efficiency was only racking up two strikeouts meaning there was very little fantasy value despite the long start. Jurado has had his moments this season but carries little value overall. He has a 5.48 ERA with a 5.06 FIP to match. He's especially struggled lately allowing 16 earned runs in his last three starts spanning only 13 2/3 innings. He's not a recommended play in his next start Wednesday at the Angels.

Elvis Andrus Aug 23 8:30am ET

Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the White Sox Thursday. Andrus was the Rangers offense in this one as they could only get three hits off Ross Detwiler and the bullpen. It was a rare homer for the shortstop, but he's been valuable to fantasy owners in other ways. He is batting .282 with 63 runs scored and his 25 stolen bases rank fifth in the majors. He's struggled a bit in the second half with a .236 average but seems to be breaking out of that with a hit in eight of his last nine games. He should be back in fantasy lineups this weekend with some good matchups against the White Sox pitching staff.

Gerrit Cole Aug 23 3:39am ET

Astros' SP Gerrit Cole recorded 12 strikeouts in 7 innings with the win in a 6-3 win over the Tigers on Thursday, Aug. 22.

David Hale Aug 23 3:03am ET

New York Yankees RHP David Hale (back, knee) received a cortisone injection in his left knee, which halted his ongoing rehab from a back injury.

Brett Gardner Aug 23 3:03am ET

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner (toe) returned to the starting lineup Thursday, Aug. 22, after missing two games due to an ingrown toenail.

Danny Santana Aug 23 2:53am ET

Texas Rangers OF Danny Santana (hamstring) was not in the starting lineup Thursday, Aug. 22, as he deals with a sore left hamstring. He was available off the bench.

Yoan Moncada Aug 23 2:53am ET

Chicago White Sox INF Yoan Moncada (hamstring) was officially activated from the IL on Thursday, Aug. 22.

Matthew Boyd Aug 23 2:53am ET

Detroit Tigers RP Tyler Alexander was optioned to Triple-A Toledo after the game on Thursday, Aug. 22. They'll activate LHP Matt Boyd from the paternity list Friday, Aug. 23.

Tyler Alexander Aug 23 2:53am ET

Detroit Tigers RP Tyler Alexander was optioned to Triple-A Toledo after the game on Thursday, Aug. 22. They'll activate LHP Matt Boyd from the paternity list Friday, Aug. 23.

Austin Meadows Aug 23 1:20am ET

Tampa Bay outfielder Austin Meadows made history in a 5-2 victory over the Orioles on Thursday night, swatting his 22nd home run of the year in the third inning, marking the 259th home run that the Orioles have given up in 2019, breaking the record for the most home runs allowed by a team in a season, a record previously held by the 2016 Cincinnati Reds. Meadows also added a double, giving him a three-game streak of two-baggers. While he will still often struggle against left-handed pitching, Meadows is a full-go against righties, in season-long leagues as well as DFS

    From RotoBaller

Gleyber Torres Aug 23 1:00am ET

New York Yankee Gleyber Torres continued to prove that he can hit home runs against more teams than just the Orioles, cranking two more in a 5-3 loss against Oakland on Thursday night. Torres now has 31 home runs on the year, tying him for second-most among second baseman. The Yankees continue their West Coast swing thing this weekend, playing a three-game set against the Dodgers.

    From RotoBaller

Jeff Samardzija Aug 23 12:50am ET

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija pitched well but did not get any help from his offense in Thursday's 1-0 loss to the Cubs. Shark pitched seven innings, allowing a single run on two hits and a walk with four strikeouts. The veteran has pitched well this season and is now 9-10 with a 3.44 ERA, 123 strikeouts, and 39 walks in 146 2/3 IP this season. He will look to keep things going in his next start which will be a decent matchup against the Diamondbacks at home.

    From RotoBaller

Aaron Civale Aug 23 12:50am ET

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Aaron Civale pitched well again on Thursday but ultimately took a tough loss, dropping his record to 1-3. He was just one out away from at least earning a quality start, but lasted just 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits. He struck out three and did not issue a walk, throwing 83 pitches in the solid effort. Civale's ERA sits at 1.82 and opponents are hitting just .198 against him so far in his big league career. He's done enough to warrant legitimate mixed league consideration.
