Detroit Tigers outfielder Victor Reyes was removed from Saturday's 5-1 win over the Royals with a right groin injury. He went 1-for-1 before exiting on Saturday. The severity of his injury is unknown at this time, and Reyes is considered day-to-day. According to manager AJ Hinch, he isn't sure when Reyes would return. The groin injury comes at the wrong time for Reyes, who was on fire over his last four games, hitting .615 (8-for-13) with two doubles, three RBI, and a stolen base. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he could return before the season ends. Daz Cameron would see an uptick in at-bats while Reyes is sidelined.
San Francisco's 1B Brandon Belt scored 32.5 fantasy points going 9-for-21 with three home runs and five RBIs in five games this week. Belt is owned only in 46.59% of mixed leagues.
Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Joakim Soria (undisclosed) was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Saturday. It's unclear if the 37-year-old tested positive for the virus or came into close contact with someone infected. Soria owned a 5.06 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and a 40:12 K: BB over 37 1/3 innings in 2021. This season, the veteran pitcher has 11 solds (six saves, five holds), but fantasy managers can move on from Soria in most league formats. Left-hander Kirby Snead was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move.
Washington's SS Alcides Escobar scored 25.5 fantasy points going 10-for-30 with a home run and four RBIs in six games this week. Escobar is owned only in 1.53% of mixed leagues.
Cincinnati Reds right-hander Vladimir Gutierrez struggled in a 7-6 win over the Washington Nationals on Saturday. Gutierrez allowed four runs over 2 2/3 innings of work while striking out three and walking four. The rookie hurler has really been struggling on the mound of late, posting a 7.39 ERA over his past seven starts. Overall, Gutierrez has a 9-6 record, 4.74 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and 88 strikeouts in 114 innings of work. Gutierrez will make his final start of the regular season on Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Shane McClanahan allowed one earned run on six hits and one walk while striking out three over five innings during Saturday's 7-3 victory over the Miami Marlins. He picked up his 10th win of the season. His only mistake was yielding a solo shot to Miguel Rojas in the third inning. The southpaw threw 84 pitches, firing 55 for strikes. McClanahan cruised through his last three frames by retiring eight of the final nine batters he faced. The 24-year-old owns a 3.44 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and a 138:37 K: BB across 120 1/3 innings in 2021. McClanahan is scheduled to meet the New York Yankees in his final start of the season on Friday.
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Nick Castellanos delivered a walk-off solo homer for his team in a 7-6 win over the Washington Nationals on Saturday. Castellanos ripped a 413-foot homer off of reliever Patrick Murphy to give the Reds their 80th win of the season. The veteran wound up going 2-for-3 with a homer, a walk, two runs, three RBI in the win. Castellanos is hitting .310 with 31 homers, 91 runs, 91 RBI, and three steals over 513 at-bats in 2021. He remains a must-start in fantasy formats over the final week of the regular season.
Nationals' C Keibert Ruiz scored 30.5 fantasy points going 10-for-23 with two home runs and eight RBIs in five games this week. Ruiz is owned only in 0.97% of mixed leagues.
St. Louis' LF Harrison Bader scored a monster 42.0 fantasy points going 14-for-25 with two home runs and five RBIs in seven games this week. Bader is owned only in 6.40% of mixed leagues.
Cincinnati Reds' 3B Eugenio Suarez had a slash line of .450/.500/.850 going 9-for-20 with 5 RBIs in five games this week. Suarez is owned only in 38.53% of mixed leagues.
Tampa Bay Rays infielder Brandon Lowe went 4-for-5 with three doubles and two RBI during Saturday's 7-3 win over the Miami Marlins. He smacked two RBI doubles, and his four-hit game helped the Rays clinch the AL East in Saturday's win. It was his second multi-hit effort over his last four contests. The 27-year-old has been productive this season, slashing .239/.336/.494 with 34 home runs, 88 RBI, 90 runs scored, and seven stolen bases over 593 plate appearances in 2021. Fantasy managers should continue to start Lowe heading into the final week of the baseball season.
Tampa Bay Rays catcher Mike Zunino went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored during Saturday's 7-3 win over the Miami Marlins. He belted a two-run shot to right-center field to give the Rays a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. It was his 32nd long ball of the season. The 30-year-old is slashing .216/.301/.564 with 32 home runs, 61 RBI, 61 runs scored, and 33 walks over 359 plate appearances in 2021. Zunino continues to be an elite source of power for fantasy managers and is second among all backstops in the majors, with 32 home runs behind only Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez (46).
Twins' SS Nick Gordon scored 25.5 fantasy points going 8-for-21 with two home runs and six RBIs in five games this week. Gordon is owned only in 0.56% of mixed leagues.
Angels' SS Jack Mayfield scored 28.0 fantasy points going 7-for-24 with a home run and eight RBIs in six games this week. Mayfield is owned only in 0.14% of mixed leagues.
