Jose Ramirez Jul 28 5:10pm ET

Cleveland Indians third baseman Jose Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Ramirez went deep off Cardinals' starter Kwang Hyun Kim in the third inning and now has home runs in back-to-back games. He has gone deep 22 times and driven in 60 runs while stealing 10 bases on the season. He should continue to heat up down the stretch for fantasy managers.

Zach Plesac Jul 28 5:10pm ET

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Zach Plesac pitched five innings of two-run ball while allowing seven hits, one walk, and striking out four. Plesac has now has a 4.57 ERA with 14 strikeouts across 21 2/3 innings pitched since his return from the IL on July 8th. He has had some ups and downs, but he looked pretty solid overall today, especially after the first inning. He should provide fantasy managers with a respectable ERA down the stretch, but his strikeout upside is quite limited.

Austin Pruitt Jul 28 5:03pm ET

Houston Astros RHP Austin Pruitt was designated for assignment Wednesday, July 28.

Nelson Cruz Jul 28 5:00pm ET

Tampa Bay Rays designated hitter Nelson Cruz (foot) was scratched from Wednesday's game against the Yankees due to a right foot contusion. He should be available off the bench in a pinch-hitting role. "Cruz is fine," said manager Keith Cash. "X-rays on his right foot came back negative." Brett Phillips replaced Cruz in the lineup, and Austin Meadows will handle designated hitter duties in Wednesday's contests. The 41-year-old is considered day-to-day. Phillips can be used as a streamer in deep-league formats as he's hit well recently, hitting .571 (4-for-7) with a homer and a stolen base over his last four games.

Robbie Ray Jul 28 5:00pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Robbie Ray allowed one run over six innings on Wednesday as his club defeated the Red Sox 4-1. The lefty surrendered three walks and five hits while punching out eight batters in the 108-pitch outing, helping him earn his ninth win of the campaign. It was a solid bounce-back game for Ray who allowed four runs in five frames to Boston in his last outing as he lowers his ERA to 3.04 on the year. He'll face an easier matchup on paper in his next scheduled outing versus the Indians in what will be his first start at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

Randal Grichuk Jul 28 5:00pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Randal Grichuk hit a crucial two-run home run on Wednesday to help his club defeat the Red Sox 4-1. His 408' shot to straight-away center broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning in the first game of a doubleheader as he finished the afternoon going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Grichuk's fantasy value has taken a small hit since George Springer's return to the lineup has forced him down lower in the batting order. He's still hitting enough to keep him relevant in deeper leagues as he's now up to a .259 BA with 19 HR, 42 runs, and 66 RBI on the season.

Jordan Romano Jul 28 5:00pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays reliever Jordan Romano notched his eighth save of the season on Wednesday, shutting down the Red Sox to preserve a 4-1 win in the first game of a doubleheader. The right-hander tossed a perfect seventh inning by getting a strikeout, pop out, and a fly out to retire the 9-1-2 hitters of the Boston lineup. Romano hit a small rough patch coming out of the All-Star break, but he still holds a sharp 2.29 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with 43 strikeouts in 35 1/3 IP. The 28-year-old hasn't recorded the amount of saves to reflect his pitching this season, but he's been good enough to stay rostered in most formats with his ratios.

Franmil Reyes Jul 28 5:00pm ET

Cleveland Indians outfielder and designated hitter Franmil Reyes went 3-for-3 with two solo home runs and a walk in a 7-2 win against the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday. Reyes hit a mammoth shot to right field in the second inning and followed that up with another deep blast to center field in the third inning. Both home runs came off left-handed starter Kawng Hyun Kim and Reyes now has 19 home runs and 47 RBI on the season across 216 at-bats. He looks to be doing just fine after being pulled from Sunday's lineup with back spasms and should be in fantasy lineups in all formats moving forward.

Nelson Cruz Jul 28 4:53pm ET

Tampa Bay Rays DH Nelson Cruz (foot) was scratched from the lineup against the New York Yankees due to a right foot contusion Wednesday, July 28.

Trent Grisham Jul 28 4:00pm ET

San Diego Padres outfielder Trent Grisham and first baseman Eric Hosmer are not in the lineup Wednesday against the Oakland Athletics. Both left-handed batters will take a seat against southpaw starter Sean Manaea. Despite a solid .858 OPS against lefties, Grisham is hitting just .162 in his last 10 contests and will make way for utilityman Jurickson Profar. With 10 steals and only two homers in 303 plate appearances, Profar is just a DFS lottery ticket for speed. Infielder Jake Cronenworth will slide to first base in place of Hosmer, who will likely see more time on the bench with second baseman/outfielder Adam Frazier now in the mix. While Hosmer has been the subject of trade rumors, his absence from the lineup appears matchup-related. Without much power (eight homers) and a .712 OPS, Hosmer's stock will take a further hit as he sees fewer opportunities.

Nolan Arenado Jul 28 3:23pm ET

Jake Hager Jul 28 3:23pm ET

Seattle Mariners OF Jake Hager was designated for assignment Wednesday, July 28.

Nolan Arenado Jul 28 3:13pm ET

St. Louis Cardinals 3B Nolan Arenado (elbow) was removed from the game in the bottom of the fifth inning against the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday, July 28, after taking a pitch off the elbow.

Trevor Story Jul 28 3:10pm ET

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story's trade market has become much more active over the last 24 hours according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network. The New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants are among the interested clubs, Morosi added. Both clubs make sense as a potential landing spot for the 28-year-old shortstop. He's been underwhelming this season as far as his rate stats are concerned with a .240/.311/.422 batting line but he's added 12 home runs, 46 RBI, 17 stolen bases, and 47 runs scored over 325 at-bats. Story would be leaving the friendly confines of Coors Field but would see much better protection while hitting in the middle of a contending lineup. This won't be the last update we get on Story ahead of Friday's trade deadline.

    From RotoBaller

Kyle Seager Jul 28 2:50pm ET

Seattle Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager homered for the second straight day Tuesday, going 1-for-5 with a two-run shot off Houston Astros starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. in the first inning. Seager has quietly been quite productive in the power department this year with 20 homers, seven of which have come in the last 30 days. At just a .217 batting average and .288 OBP for the year, he won't contribute in many categories, but he'll be a cheap add for fantasy managers in need of home runs and RBI.
