Chris Paddack Jul 31 9:20pm ET

San Diego Padres pitcher Chris Paddack (oblique) was placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained left oblique. The move was retroactive to July 28. He's struggled this season, owning an uninspiring 5.13 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 90 strikeouts across 93 innings in 2021. It's unclear exactly how much time Paddack will miss, but the 25-year-old has a ton of upside, and fantasy managers should continue to stash him in all league formats. Right-hander Miguel Diaz was recalled from Triple-A El-Paso in a corresponding move. Diaz was mainly used out of the bullpen and owned a 3.38 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 32 strikeouts over 29 1/3 innings in 2021.

Jaime Barria Jul 31 9:10pm ET

Los Angeles Angels right-hander Jaime Barria (2-0) picked up his second win in as many starts, going 6.2 innings with three strikeouts and one walk. He allowed only four hits and no runs. Barria, who was called back up on July 25, has pitched exclusively out of the rotation since his return, pitching 13.2 innings while allowing just two runs, both coming in the first inning of his previous start. For the year, he has a 4.12 ERA with eight strikeouts and eight walks in 19.2 IP. Fantasy managers can stream Barria in favorable matchups and hope that he can maintain this level of play.

Trevor Williams Jul 31 9:00pm ET

New York Mets pitcher Trevor Williams will make his organization debut with Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday. He will remain in the rotation in the minors as a "stretched-out" option, ready to step in if the Mets need him. Williams was acquired by New York at the MLB trade deadline but optioned to Triple-A Syracuse shortly after. The 29-year-old owned a (4-2) record along with a 5.06 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, and a 61:22 K: BB across 58 2/3 innings in 2021. Mets ace Jacob deGrom (forearm) suffered a setback on Friday; Williams could get the call to the big leagues sooner than later. Fantasy managers can leave Williams on the waiver wire.

Raisel Iglesias Jul 31 8:40pm ET

Los Angeles Angels closer Raisel Iglesias got save number 22 of the year in Saturday's 1-0 victory against the Oakland Athletics. Iglesias came into the game in the eighth, getting out of a two-out runner on second jam. He threw 1.1 innings and struck out two while allowing no base on balls. He's been a bright spot in one of the worst bullpens in the league, producing a 3.14 ERA with 73 strikeouts and eight walks in 48.2 innings. Iglesias wasn't dealt at the deadline after the Angels made him available, meaning he will continue as the closer for the rest of the season, barring any injury. Fantasy managers should continue trusting Iglesias to provide good results and appear in almost every save situation for the Angels.

Raimel Tapia Jul 31 8:40pm ET

Colorado Rockies outfielder Raimel Tapia (toe) is not expected to go on the 10-day injured list with a sprained big toe. He's "in a lot of discomfort," said manager Bud Black. The 27-year-old sprained his big toe during Friday's 9-4 win over the Padres. Tapia is expected to miss 2-to-3 days and should return to the lineup soon. He is slashing .289/.342/.388 with five home runs, 43 RBI, and 59 runs scored over 99 games in 2021. The Rockies outfielder doesn't provide much power but makes up for it with his speed by swiping a career-high 19 bags this season.

Clayton Kershaw Jul 31 8:30pm ET

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) is dealing with some residual soreness from his last simulated game and is not expected to throw Sunday. He is scheduled to throw a simulated game on Sunday, but this could get pushed back due to the residual soreness. The Dodgers are not considering it a setback. Kershaw was targeting a return to the rotation soon, but with the latest news, the southpaw could have his return delayed. He owns a 3.39 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and a 127:19 K: BB over 106 innings. Fantasy managers should continue to stash Kershaw as he could be a difference-maker for the final two months of the regular season.

Tony Gonsolin Jul 31 8:10pm ET

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tony Gonsolin (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation. This could explain why the 27-year-old struggled mightily with his command in his previous start, yielding five walks over 1 2/3 innings. The severity of Gonsolin's injury is unknown at this time, but the Dodgers' right-hander will miss at least the next 10 days. Gonsolin owns a 2.78 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and a 42:26 K: BB across 35 2/3 innings in 2021. Fantasy managers in deep-league formats should continue to stash Gonsolin. Still, with the Dodgers acquiring Max Scherzer and Danny Duffy, it remains to be seen if he remains in the rotation once activated from the 10-day injured list.

Zac Gallen Jul 31 8:00pm ET

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zac Gallen allowed two runs on five hits and one walk with eight strikeouts over six innings in a 6-5 win over the Dodgers. While Gallen did not factor into the decision, it was still a good bounce-back performance after allowing seven runs over four innings of work against the Cubs his last time out. It's been a rough year overall for Gallen, who has dealt with injuries that have limited him to just 12 starts, in which he has gone 1-5 with a 4.61 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 27.5 percent strikeout rate over 56 2/3 innings of work. Hopefully this will be the start of a turnaround for Gallen, as he'll look to keep things rolling in his next outing against the Giants.

Fernando Tatis Jr. Jul 31 7:10pm ET

San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with left shoulder inflammation, the team announced on Twitter. Tatis exited Friday's game after suffering his second shoulder subluxation of the year while running on the base paths. It's the same shoulder that he injured earlier this year, which raised concerns that Tatis could see his season come to a premature close as a result of this issue. For now it appears that the team thinks he'll be able to return to action at some point, but there's no timetable for how long he'll be out. While Tatis is sidelined, expect Jake Cronenworth and Ha-Seong Kim to see regular time at shortstop, as Cronenworth will get the start there on Saturday and is batting second against the Rockies.

Wilmer Flores Jul 31 7:00pm ET

San Francisco Giants infielder Wilmer Flores (back) exited Saturday's game early due to back tightness, according to Maria Guardado of MLB.com. Flores was replaced on defense in the fourth inning by Thairo Estrada after going 1-for-2 with a two-run home run to start the game. He's been a solid option in deeper formats this year by slashing .249/.330/.431 with 12 homers, 36 RBI and 42 runs scored over 92 games. Managers should consider him day-to-day for now.

Mookie Betts Jul 31 6:50pm ET

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts (hip) said that he expects to be activated from the 10-day injured list on Sunday, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Betts has been out since July 19 after aggravating a hip pointer during the Dodgers' series in Colorado. It's been a disappointing season so far for Betts, but he had begun to heat up at the plate prior to the injury, slashing .370/.417/.685 with four homers, 11 RBI and 15 runs scored over his last 14 games. Managers will hope that he can keep that up when he returns to the field.

Javier Baez Jul 31 6:40pm ET

New York Mets shortstop Javier Baez will make his debut with the team on Saturday, as he will get the start at shortstop and bat fourth against the Reds. Baez was acquired from the Cubs during the hectic trade deadline on Friday, and over 91 games with Chicago, he's slashing .248/.292/.484 with 22 home runs, 13 steals, 65 RBI and 48 runs scored. He'll look to continue his recent hot streak when he goes up against Cincinnati, after slashing .333/.350/.526 with three homers, three steals, 13 RBI and nine runs scored over his last 15 games.

Rhys Hoskins Jul 31 6:30pm ET

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Rhys Hoskins (groin) remains out of the starting lineup on Saturday. He is being considered day-to-day with a groin issue that forced his early exit on Thursday and kept him out of the lineup on Friday. From all reports it sounds like it's not believed to be a serious issue, and he should be able to return to action within the next few days. With Hoskins out, Brad Miller is getting the start at first base, and he will bat fifth in the lineup against Pittsburgh.
