Jonathan Loaisiga Jul 25 6:40pm ET

New York Yankees relief pitcher Jonathan Loaisiga struggled mightily against the Red Sox Sunday. Loaisiga matched his season-high by allowing four earned runs to Boston on four hits. The right-hander surrendered a hit to each of the batters he faced, yielding an average exit velocity of 94.6 MPH. Fortunately, these types of performances have been rare for Loaisiga this season, who still maintains a 2.81 ERA and 1.06 WHIP even after the blowup. He can still be counted on as a versatile reliever, particularly in deeper category leagues.

Johan Oviedo Jul 25 6:20pm ET

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Johan Oviedo wasn't great on Sunday, lasting just 4 1/3 innings. He gave up three runs on five hits with six walks and six strikeouts. There were tons of base runners on seemingly at all times, and it took Oviedo 98 pitches (55 strikes) to get just 13 outs. He escaped without a decision, thanks to the Cardinals scoring 10 runs. Oviedo has a 4.91 ERA and might not be in the starting rotation for long unless he starts throwing more strikes.

Deven Marrero Jul 25 6:10pm ET

Miami Marlins infielder Deven Marrero had the best game of his baseball career in Sunday's win over the San Diego Padres. Marrero went 3-for-4 with a home run, two singles, three runs scored, and an RBI. Marrero got the start at shortstop so that starter Miguel Rojas could have a day off. Anyone who happened to have Marrero in their DFS lineup for some reason certainly struck gold. He's not likely to get much more playing time and could actually be on his way back down to the minors once the Marlins get players back from injury.

Domingo German Jul 25 6:10pm ET

New York Yankees starting pitcher Domingo German delivered his best performance of the season in Sunday's no-decision against the Red Sox. German carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning but was pulled after surrendering a leadoff double. The righty was charged with one run and one walk, posting a season-high 10 strikeouts with an impressive 18 whiffs, half of them coming on his curveball. German has now allowed just three runs over his last 11 innings pitched with a 15:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio in that span. He seems to be trending in the right direction ahead of an appealing matchup against the strikeout-prone Marlins.

Starling Marte Jul 25 6:00pm ET

Miami Marlins outfielder Starling Marte had an excellent offensive game on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with three singles, a walk, and an RBI. Marte went through a little bit of a slump earlier in the month, but he's heating back up just in time for the Marlins to get the best return for him at the trade deadline. He's hitting .303 with an .855 OPS. His fantasy value will almost certainly go up once he's in a better lineup in August and September.

Yadier Molina Jul 25 5:53pm ET

St. Louis Cardinals C Yadier Molina (neck) missed his third straight game Sunday, July 25, because of neck stiffness and is considered day-to-day. The team does not believe that Molina will need to undergo any scans.

Victor Robles Jul 25 5:50pm ET

Washington Nationals outfielder Victor Robles continued to struggle at the plate on Sunday, as he finished 0-for-4 in a 5-4 loss to the Orioles. He is 1-for-14 with four strikeouts over his last seven games, and is now slashing .203/.320/.294 with one home run, eight steals, 12 RBI and 26 runs scored over 86 games this season. There are no signs of a turnaround coming for Robles, and at this point he should be kicked to the waiver wire in all redraft formats.

Tejay Antone Jul 25 5:43pm ET

Cincinnati Reds RHP Tejay Antone (forearm) is scheduled to start throwing bullpen session this week. He will have a rehab assignment before returning to the active roster, according to manager David Bell.

Aledmys Diaz Jul 25 5:40pm ET

Houston Astros infielder Aledmys Diaz (hand) will be activated from the injured list on Monday and join the team in Seattle, according to Brian McTaggart of Diaz landed on the injured list at the beginning of June with a fractured left hand. Prior to the injury, he was slashing .278/.341/.435 with three home runs, 18 RBI and 14 runs scored over 34 games. He was being used primarily as a bench bat though, so it's unlikely that he'll have any value outside of deep NL-only formats.

Lucas Sims Jul 25 5:33pm ET

Cincinnati Reds RHP Lucas Sims (elbow) is scheduled to start a rehab assignment with Class AAA Louisville Tuesday, July 27.

Aaron Sanchez Jul 25 5:30pm ET

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Aaron Sanchez (biceps, finger) will return to the team on Tuesday after being sidelined since the beginning of May, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. Sanchez looked good over five starts in April, and even with a poor showing in his last outing prior to the injury, he's 1-1 with a 3.18 ERA, 1.200 WHIP and 19.7 percent strikeout rate over 28 1/3 innings of work. Slusser reports though that it seems more likely Sanchez will be used out of the bullpen instead of sliding back into the rotation, as manager Gabe Kapler said that he felt good about how the rotation looked currently. It's possible that he could be a solid play in SV/HLD formats, but it will definitely be an overall drop in his value if he remains in the bullpen.

Aaron Civale Jul 25 5:23pm ET

Cleveland Indians RHP Aaron Civale (finger) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Tuesday, July 27.

Garrett Stubbs Jul 25 5:23pm ET

Houston Astros LHP Brooks Raley (undisclosed) was activated from the injured list Sunday, July 25. The team also optioned C Garrett Stubbs from Class AAA Sugar Land.

Alejandro Kirk Jul 25 5:20pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk had a nice day at the plate on Sunday, going 2-for-4 in the team's 5-4 loss to the Mets. The 22-year-old logged a single and a double to take his batting average up to .255 on the year as he's now 3-for-7 since returning from the IL. Kirk has been out since May 1 with a hip strain and should receive a good amount of playing time with Danny Jansen back on the shelf indefinitely. Kirk has enough upside for managers to take a shot on rostering him in two-catcher formats, especially for those in need of a batting average stabilizer.

Ross Stripling Jul 25 5:20pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Ross Stripling allowed one run over five frames on Sunday, settling for a no-decision in the club's 5-4 loss to the Mets. It was a nice bounce-back outing for the right-hander who failed to make it through one inning in his last start, and if this game wasn't under NL rules he might have lasted a bit longer after throwing just 79 pitches. Stripling finished the game with five hits allowed, six punchouts, and no free passes as he currently sits with an 84/25 K/BB through 80 IP. He'll carry a 4.84 and 1.29 WHIP into his next scheduled start versus the Royals in what will be the Jays first home game back in Toronto since 2019.

Byron Buxton Jul 25 5:20pm ET

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton is gaining interest from the Philadelphia Phillies, who may attempt to trade for him prior to Friday's trade deadline, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. It was reported earlier Sunday that Buxton had rejected a contract extension offer from the Twins, which has added fuel to speculation that he could be traded. Buxton is still on the injured list with a fractured left hand, so that could end up affecting whether or not he is dealt prior to the deadline. In any case, managers should continue to monitor this situation closely.

Jean Segura Jul 25 5:10pm ET

Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Jean Segura went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in a win over the Braves on Sunday. The Philly leadoff man took Braves starter Touki Toussaint deep in the fourth inning to extend his hitting streak to six games. Segura has been solid batting atop the Phillies lineup as he's led off every game since July 6. In that span he's got 11 runs and 12 RBI across 18 games with a minuscule 11 percent strikeout rate. He should be started in fantasy leagues as he's got three good matchups coming up against Joe Ross, Erick Fedde, and Patrick Corbin of the Nationals.

    From RotoBaller

Magneuris Sierra Jul 25 5:10pm ET

Miami Marlins outfielder Magneuris Sierra drove in his first run of the season in Sunday's win over the San Diego Padres. Sierra went 1-for-3 with a single, a run scored, and an RBI. According to Baseball Reference data, Sierra is the first position player of all time to appear in 78 games and receive over 61 at bats to start a season and not record an RBI. In his 131st at bat, he finally drove in a run. Sierra may get more playing time if the Marlins deal some of their outfielders before the trade deadline, but he's a defense and speed guy, making him fantasy irrelevant regardless of playing time.
