Ryan LaMarre Aug 2 11:13pm ET

New York Yankees OF Ryan LaMarre was sent outright to Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday, Aug. 2.

Jorge Lopez Aug 2 11:10pm ET

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Jorge Lopez turned in a stellar start in Monday's 7-1 win over the Yankees. Lopez took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before allowing a leadoff double and finished with 6 innings pitched, one run allowed on a hit and five walks with four strikeouts. The 28-year-old is now 3-12 with a 5.91 ERA over 22 starts this season. Needless to say, fantasy managers should steer clear of Lopez, despite his solid start today.

Christian Yelich Aug 2 11:03pm ET

Milwaukee Brewers OF Christian Yelich (illness) is expected to undergo COVID-19 testing Wednesday, Aug. 4, and be cleared to return to the park the following day provided he clears protocols, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy. Per McCalvy, the Brewers may give him a few days to get his legs back under him before playing him.

Brandon Nimmo Aug 2 11:03pm ET

New York Mets OF Brandon Nimmo (hamstring) was scratched from the lineup versus the Miami Marlins on Monday, Aug. 2. He was used as a pinch hitter later in the game, however.

Gerrit Cole Aug 2 11:03pm ET

New York Yankees RHP Gerrit Cole (illness) will not make his scheduled start Tuesday, Aug. 3, after testing positive for COVID-19 recently, according to manager Aaron Boone.

Brad Hand Aug 2 10:10pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays reliever Brad Hand suffered the loss for his club in Monday's 5-2 extra-inning affair with the Indians. Hand entered the 10th with a runner on second and he began the frame with a wild pitch and a single before giving up a two-run homer to Jose Ramirez. The veteran has now given up at least one run in each of his appearances with his new team since getting acquired at the trade deadline, but with the Jays lacking left-hand help and experience in the pen, he should continue to work high-leverage situations. Manager Charlie Montoyo has mixed and matched roles at the back-end of the pen before so Hand could run into a few saves in Toronto, but Jordan Romano remains the favorite moving forward.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Aug 2 10:00pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. swatted a two-run homer during Monday's 5-2 extra-inning loss to the Indians on Monday. His line-drive missile to left came off the bat at a whopping 115.2 MPH for his first home run of the season in front of hometown fans at the Rogers Centre. The former top prospect is now up to 34 HR, 82 runs, 85 RBI, and a .328/.423/.65 slash line through 102 games played, which are viable MVP numbers in any given season. It'll be a two-horse race down the stretch between Guerrero and Shohei Ohtani for the AL title and managers should enjoy the ride regardless of the outcome.

Robbie Ray Aug 2 10:00pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Robbie Ray had a solid outing versus the Indians on Monday, tossing six innings and allowing two runs in the no-decision. The lefty gave up six hits and walked three while striking out four, with three of his punchouts coming in the final five outs of his outing. This start marked the first time he's allowed three or more walks in back-to-back games since his first two starts of the season in April. Owners shouldn't worry about him falling back into his former self since he still threw a strike over 60% of the time in both games. Ray will take an impressive 3.04 ERA and 1.09 WHIP into his next start versus the Red Sox this weekend.

Domingo Acevedo Aug 2 9:53pm ET

Free-agent RHP Domingo Acevedo signed a minor-league contract with the Oakland Athletics on Monday, Aug. 2.

Tommy Pham Aug 2 9:50pm ET

San Diego Padres outfielder Tommy Pham is riding a cold streak at the plate currently after going hitless on Sunday. It was the fifth time in his last 10 games that he has gone hitless, as he is now slashing .111/.220/.222 with one home run, one RBI, six runs scored and a 16:5 K:BB over that span. While this slump is frustrating to managers, overall he's had a fairly solid year at the plate, hitting .251 with a .766 OPS, 11 home runs, 13 steals, 35 RBI and 61 runs scored over 103 games. He'll look to break out of this slump in the Padres' series opener with the Athletics.

Tommy La Stella Aug 2 9:20pm ET

San Francisco Giants infielder Tommy La Stella (hamstring) might be able to rejoin the team on Tuesday, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. La Stella has been out of action since early May due to a hamstring strain, and then suffered a setback during his rehab assignment due to a thumb issue. He's slashing .235/.297/.353 with one homer, five RBI and eight runs scored over 25 games this season, and it's unlikely he'll have any value in fantasy this year outside of the deepest of NL-only formats.

    From RotoBaller

Evan Longoria Aug 2 9:10pm ET

San Francisco Giants third baseman Evan Longoria (shoulder) could begin a rehab assignment later this week, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. Longoria has been sidelined since the beginning of June with a left shoulder sprain, and prior to then he was slashing .280/.376/.516 with nine homers, one steal, 30 RBI and 28 runs scored over 50 games. He's down to 20 percent rostered currently, and may be worth considering as an IL stash for managers needing help at corner infield.

Kenta Maeda Aug 2 8:40pm ET

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Kenta Maeda has a tough matchup coming on Tuesday when he takes the mound in the series opener with the Reds. The Reds have been on a roll over their last 10 games, slashing .299/.377/.540 while averaging 6.1 runs per game over that span. On top of that, Cincinnati has been hitting well against right-handers this year (.256/.338/433) and they have been hitting better at home (.258/.342/.448) than on the road (.246/.324/.400). This looks to be trouble for Maeda, because while he put up a good performance in July by going 1-1 with a 2.15 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 36 strikeouts over 29 1/3 innings, he has pitched very poorly on the road this year (5.50 ERA, 1.35 WHIP). As a result, managers may want to consider leaving Maeda on the bench for this outing.

Christian Yelich Aug 2 8:20pm ET

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich (COVID-19) will likely remain out until the weekend, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. Yelich was placed on the injured list last week while experiencing mild symptoms, but he is expected to be able to return to the ballpark by Thursday when he is first eligible to come off the IL. McCalvy adds that the team wants to give Yelich a couple additional days to ease back into the lineup, so assuming he clears protocols on Thursday he likely won't return to the lineup until the weekend. Managers should keep an eye out for further updates on his condition, and hope that he'll have better results in the second half after slashing .235/.382/.367 over 67 games this year.
