Jordan Montgomery Sep 27 10:00am ET

New York Yankees starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery delivered a solid effort despite the no-decision Sunday against the Red Sox. Montgomery pitched five innings, allowing one run on seven hits with zero walks issued. The lefty struck out four batters while generating nine whiffs. Montgomery has been brilliant over his last three starts, as he has allowed just three runs while posting a 22:2 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He'll be a solid streaming option in his final scheduled start against the Rays. Montgomery owns a 3-1 record and a 3.18 ERA in 28 1/3 innings against Tampa Bay this year.

Scott Barlow Sep 27 9:50am ET

Kansas City Royals closer Scott Barlow made things interesting in the ninth inning of Sunday's game against the Detroit Tigers, but he was able to get the job done in the end. Barlow entered the game as the Royals had a 2-0 lead in the ninth inning. He went on to give up two hits, two walks and one earned run before putting things away. Each of the three outs in the inning came through a strikeout. Barlow now has 16 saves on the year, six of which have come this month. He's converted each of his last eight saves opportunities dating back to late August.

Wily Peralta Sep 27 9:50am ET

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Wily Peralta wasn't able to keep the Kansas City Royals off the base paths on Sunday. He pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed eight hits, three walks and two earned runs while striking out three. It took him 100 pitches to get through 4 2/3 innings. Peralta had been stellar on the mound this month prior to Sunday's outing. He had allowed just three earned runs over 21 innings in September and each of his last two outings before Sunday had gone for quality starts. He now has a 3.08 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP over 18 games (17 starts) on the year. His final start of 2021 will come against the Chicago White Sox on Friday.

Aaron Judge Sep 27 9:40am ET

New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge (finger) went 1-for-4 with a key, two-run double in Sunday's win over the Red Sox. Judge ripped a 118.4 MPH double to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead in the eighth inning, though the slugger dislocated his pinky finger while sliding into second base. Judge said after the game that he's not concerned about the injury. The California native is slashing .284/.370/.533 with 36 homers, 92 RBI, 85 runs scored, and six stolen bases in 142 games played. With three extra-base hits and six RBI in his last five games, Judge should be considered a strong start in the upcoming series against the Blue Jays.

Kris Bubic Sep 27 9:40am ET

Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Kris Bubic had his best outing of the year on Sunday against the Detroit Tigers. He pitched seven innings and allowed two hits, one walk and no runs while striking out six. He earned the win to improve to 6-6 on the year. Bubic has quietly had a strong month of September. Over five starts this month, he's gone 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA. He hasn't been going very deep into his starts all year, but Sunday's outing was his second consecutive quality start. He'll make his final start of the 2021 season against the Minnesota Twins next Saturday.

Matt Joyce Sep 27 9:30am ET

The Philadelphia Phillies designated outfielder Matt Joyce for assignment on Sunday. The team selected the contract of pitcher Hans Crouse in a corresponding move and Crouse went on to start Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 37-year-old Joyce has been injured for a great deal of the season and he's struggled immensely at the plate when he's been active. Over 43 games this year, he's slashed .091/.261/.218 with two home runs, seven RBI and six runs.

DJ LeMahieu Sep 27 9:20am ET

New York Yankees infielder DJ LeMahieu went 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI in Sunday's win over the Red Sox. LeMahieu rapped a couple of singles, one in the first inning and another in the fifth, with the latter base hit scoring a run for New York. The veteran infielder still hasn't hit for much power but owns the second-highest batting average of any calendar month in September, along with 13 runs scored atop the Yankee lineup. LeMahieu has also shown a most patient eye at the plate, as evidenced by his 12.4 percent walk rate and 10.3 percent strikeout rate in the month. It's been an up and down season for LeMahieu, but he's finishing strong for his fantasy managers.

Brian Goodwin Sep 27 9:20am ET

The Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Brian Goodwin (back) on the 10-day injured list on Sunday. The move is retroactive to September 24. Goodwin is dealing with lower back spasms. Due to the timing of the move, he is ineligible to return from the injured list during the regular season. The White Sox called up relief pitcher Matt Foster to fill his roster spot. The 30-year-old Goodwin slashed .221/.319/.374 with eight home runs, 29 RBI and 33 runs over 72 games this year. He had been operating as a reserve outfielder lately as the team has a fully healthy outfield.

Elvis Andrus Sep 27 9:10am ET

The Oakland Athletics placed both shortstop Elvis Andrus (leg) and second baseman Jed Lowrie (hand) on the 10-day injured list on Sunday. Both players are done for the regular season and can be dropped in all redraft fantasy leagues. Andrus was diagnosed with a fractured left fibula in his lower leg. He suffered the injury while running the bases in Saturday's game. Lowrie, meanwhile, has a sprained right hand that has been bothering him all month, forcing him to only bat left-handed in September. The Athletics activated Sam Moll from the paternity list and called up Vimael Machin from Triple-A to fill the two open roster spots.

Patrick Wisdom Sep 27 9:10am ET

Chicago Cubs third baseman Patrick Wisdom (wrist) was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals due to wrist soreness. Matt Duffy went on to draw the start at third base in his place. There hasn't been any indication of how severe Wisdom's injury is yet. He should be considered day-to-day. The Cubs are off on Monday before beginning a three-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday. Wisdom has struggled at the plate this month, slashing .150/.261/.325 with three home runs, 11 RBI and eight runs scored.

Giancarlo Stanton Sep 27 9:00am ET

New York Yankees designated hitter/outfielder Giancarlo Stanton belted a two-run homer, his third straight long ball in the series, to help his team complete the sweep of the Red Sox. Stanton's blast traveled 448 feet at a whopping 116.4 MPH. The slugger became the first Yankees player to record 10-plus RBI in a series at Fenway Park. Stanton owns a .632 slugging percentage with nine homers, 22 RBI, and nine runs scored in 87 September at-bats, as he continues to lead the charge for the Yankees in their wild-card chase. Stanton is an automatic start in every fantasy format imaginable right now.

Brandon Belt Sep 27 8:50am ET

San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt (thumb) was hit by a pitch in his left thumb in the seventh inning of Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies. He stayed in to take his free base in the inning, but was replaced in the field in the bottom half of the inning. After the game, he had x-rays done, but they were inconclusive. He is slated to undergo additional x-rays on Monday. The 33-year-old veteran has been on fire at the plate this month. He's slashing .349/.451/.721 with nine home runs, 18 RBI and 23 runs through September. He should be considered day-to-day for now. The Giants are off on Monday before opening a three-game home series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

    J.D. Davis Sep 27 8:50am ET

The New York Mets placed third baseman J.D. Davis (hand) on the 10-day injured list due to a left hand sprain on Sunday. The move is retroactive to September 23. He will technically be eligible to return for the team's season finale, but it seems likely that he is done for the regular season. This is the fourth time his left hand injury has caused a stint on the injured list this season. He's only managed to play in 73 games this year and he's slashed .285/.384/.436 with five home runs, 23 RBI and 18 runs. Jonathan Villar figures to be the team's primary third baseman for the final week of the year.

Nick Ahmed Sep 27 8:40am ET

The Arizona Diamondbacks placed shortstop Nick Ahmed (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list on Sunday. The 31-year-old veteran had been sidelined for about a week before the move to the injured list. The team originally said he was dealing with right shoulder soreness, but he was placed on the injured list with left shoulder inflammation. The move is retroactive to September 23, so he's technically eligible to return for the team's last game of the year. Geraldo Perdomo was recalled to take Ahmed's roster spot and he should see a good amount of playing time going forward, though Josh Rojas might be the team's primary shortstop in Ahmed's absence.

Tyler Mahle Sep 27 5:40am ET

Cincinnati Reds right-hander Tyler Mahle was excellent in a Sunday start against the Washington Nationals. Mahle allowed just one unearned run over six innings while striking out six and walking two. The veteran hurler picked up the win, improving his record to 13-6, to go along with a 3.54 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 204 strikeouts over 175 2/3 innings of work. Mahle is scheduled to take the mound for the final time in the regular season on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

He's been hot at the plate lately, hitting .350 with a homer and four RBI in his last seven games.
