Alex Bregman Jun 17 12:30am ET

Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman (quad) could be facing a lengthy absence with a left quad strain, according to Brent Zwerneman of the Houston Chronicle. Manager Dusty Baker said that the severity of Bregman's injury is not yet known, but he added that, "it looks like we've lost Bregman for a while". He will undergo further examinations on Thursday, but managers should start preparing for an IL stint in the near future for Bregman.

Keegan Akin Jun 17 12:10am ET

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Keegan Akin fell to 0-2 in Wednesday's 8-7 loss to the Indians. Akin pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing all eight runs on eight hits (including a solo home run) and three walks with seven strikeouts. The 26-year-old has struggled since joining the starting rotation and now owns a 5.76 ERA. Akin's next start will be a tough matchup against the Astros at home, but fantasy managers should not trust him in any start at this point.

Andrelton Simmons Jun 17 12:03am ET

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Twins SS Andrelton Simmons (ankle) exited against the Seattle Mariners with left ankle tightness Wednesday, June 16.

Anthony Santander Jun 17 12:00am ET

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander went 0-for-1 with a strikeout in a pinch-hit appearance in Wednesday's 8-7 loss to the Indians. Santander has not performed as well as fantasy managers have probably hoped for, slashing .250/.278/.412with a 3.2% walk rate and a 25.8% strikeout rate. His walk rate and slugging percentage are the lowest since he started playing consistently in 2019 and his strikeout rate is the highest. He hasn't done poorly, but fantasy managers may want to keep him on their benches if they can until he starts to pick things up.

Jake Cronenworth Jun 17 12:00am ET

San Diego Padres second baseman Jake Cronenworth stung a pinch-hit solo home run Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies. Cronenworth interrupted his off day by rounding the bases in the sixth frame, staying in the contest to finish 1-for-2. The 27-year-old's numbers have dipped of late, hitting just .216 in June (11-for-51) with three extra-base hits. However, he's supplied steady fantasy production as a middle infielder, slashing .272/.338/.412 with seven homers, three steals and 63 runs-plus-RBI over 289 plate appearances. He merits a platoon role in most fantasy formats.

Fernando Tatis Jr. Jun 16 11:50pm ET

San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies. El Nio's solo blast in the third frame was the longest of his career, traveling 477 feet. He also doubled in a run to lift his season slash to .277/.352/.665. After going yard in back-to-back games, Tatis rocks an NL-leading 21 homers with 13 steals and 95 runs-plus-RBI across 219 plate appearances. At the moment, he's fantasy baseball's most valuable offensive player.

Trey Mancini Jun 16 11:50pm ET

Baltimore Orioles first baseman/outfielder Trey Mancini had a nice day at the plate in Wednesday's 8-7 loss to the Indians. Mancini went 3-for-3 with two singles, a double, and a strikeout. The 29-year-old has cooled off in June but still has a solid .275/.355/.484 slash line with 12 home runs and 48 RBI on the season. He should continue to be a high-end fantasy option despite hitting in an overall weak lineup.

    From RotoBaller

Trent Grisham Jun 16 11:50pm ET

San Diego Padres outfielder Trent Grisham finished 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies. Slotted down to fifth in the order against southpaw Kyle Freeland, Grisham promptly registered his season high for RBI, cranking a two-run blast in the third frame before tacking on a sacrifice fly in his final plate appearance. The 24-year-old has missed nearly two months this season with leg injuries but has provided tremendous production when healthy, slashing .289/.370/.520 with eight homers, seven steals and 44 runs-plus-RBI over 173 plate appearances. The extended IL stints have made Grisham a roster liability for fantasy squads, but he's a solid OF2 when he's in the lineup.

Rafael Dolis Jun 16 11:33pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays RHP Rafael Dolis (hand) exited against the New York Yankees with numbness in his right hand Wednesday, June 16, according to manager Charlie Montoyo.

Andrelton Simmons Jun 16 11:33pm ET

Minnesota Twins SS Andrelton Simmons (undisclosed) exited against the Seattle Mariners with an undisclosed injury Wednesday, June 16.

Christian Vazquez Jun 16 11:03pm ET

Boston Red Sox C Christian Vazquez (illness) exited against the Atlanta Braves with a stomach illness Wednesday, June 16.

Josh Donaldson Jun 16 11:03pm ET

Minnesota Twins 3B Josh Donaldson (calf) exited against the Seattle Mariners with tightness in his right calf Wednesday, June 16.

Tejay Antone Jun 16 11:00pm ET

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Tejay Antone (forearm) could return for this weekend's series against the Padres. He was placed on the 10-day injured list with right forearm inflammation on June 10. Antone is eligible to return from the IL on Friday. "I'm still hopeful that he comes back while we're in San Diego," Reds manager Dave Bell said. "The way his days lined up for bullpens and everything, I don't think it's going to be Friday. Depending on how many bullpens he needs, it could be like Saturday or even Monday. At this point, we want to get him back, but we want to make sure we make the most of this time off. If we have to throw in an extra bullpen, then we'll do it." Antone has been impressive so far in 2021, owning a 1.41 ERA, 0.72 WHIP, and a 40:11 K: BB across 32 innings. The 27-year-old is used in high-leverage situations and will slot right back into the Reds bullpen once activated.

Jesse Winker Jun 16 11:00pm ET

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jesse Winker went 1-for-3 with a single and a walk in a 2-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday. The veteran outfielder continues to plug away in what is shaping up to be a career year as he's now hitting .343 with 17 homers, 49 runs, and 41 RBI across 230 at-bats. Winker has now picked up at least a hit in 12 of his past 13 games. He has been absolutely smoking the ball this year, posting a 95th percentile hard-hit rate, 89th percentile average exit velocity, and an 81st percentile barrel percentage. He's a no-brainer fantasy start in all fantasy leagues going forward.

Blake Snell Jun 16 10:50pm ET

San Diego Padres starter Blake Snell was blasted for seven earned runs in 3 innings Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies. Despite his season-long woes, fantasy managers had been buoyed by Snell's 32 percent strikeout rate, but he had nothing today, fanning just one in the nightmare outing. Six of nine hits allowed went for extra bases and he also issued two walks. The 28-year-old southpaw stares at a bloated 5.72 ERA and 1.57 WHIP through 61 frames (14 starts) as a 4.70 xERA suggests Snell's struggles are no fluke. Barely a streamer candidate until he shows signs of life, Snell draws a tough matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers at home next Monday.

    From RotoBaller

Giancarlo Stanton Jun 16 10:50pm ET

New York Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton went 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly in Wednesday's 3-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. Stanton gave the Yankees an early lead with a sacrifice fly in the first inning, then later singled in the eighth inning, though he was stranded on base. The slugger continues to be one of the best run-producers on the Yankees, slashing .260/.330/.503 with 12 home runs, 33 RBI, and 19 runs scored. Stanton should remain a staple in fantasy managers' lineups, so long as he can remain on the field.

Jacob deGrom Jun 16 10:40pm ET

New York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom (shoulder) underwent testing after the game and it appears the shoulder ailment that caused his early exit on Wednesday is not serious, according to Justin Toscano of northjersey.com. deGrom said after the game that testing has ruled out anything serious, and he will undergo further evaluations on Thursday. While this seems like it won't be a big deal, in a way it could prove to be an issue as this is the third different injury he has dealt with this season. Consider him day-to-day for now, and look for further updates tomorrow on his condition.

    From RotoBaller

Marcus Semien Jun 16 10:40pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Marcus Semien took the second pitch from Gerrit Cole over the fence for his 16th homer of the season as his club fell 3-2 to the Yankees on Wednesday. It ended up being his only hit of the ballgame as he finished the night going 1-for-4 to put his batting average at .289 for the year. Semien has picked up a hit in eight of his last nine contests as the leadoff man in Toronto, acting as a terrific table-setter for the power bats that follow him in the lineup. He's filling up all fantasy categories with 47 runs, 38 RBI, and nine steals, but it will be interesting to see where he hits in the lineup with George Springer making a return to the diamond in the near future.

    From RotoBaller

Gary Sanchez Jun 16 10:40pm ET

New York Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez answered the call from manager Aaron Boone in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Sanchez was summoned as a pinch hitter with Miguel Andujar on base in the seventh inning and delivered a towering, two-run homer. The blast traveled 446 feet at an exit velocity of 113.4 MPH. Despite the limited plate discipline, Sanchez has been sensational lately, batting .302 with four home runs, four doubles, nine RBI, and six runs scored in June. He needs to be picked up wherever he was dropped, as his underlying metrics indicate that such performances are here to stay, making him one of the top fantasy backstops to roster.

    From RotoBaller

Ross Stripling Jun 16 10:40pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Ross Stripling pitched well over 6 2/3 innings versus the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing three runs (two earned) in a tough-luck loss. The right-hander gave up just three hits and a pair of walks while striking out nine as he cruised through most of the game until the seventh when he served up a go-ahead two-run homer to Gary Sanchez. Stripling has pitched much better over his last five outings with 29 strikeouts, a 2.46 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP, making him a worthwhile pickup in fantasy leagues. He'll also face the Marlins followed by the Orioles which gives him a couple of good opportunities for wins backed behind a formidable offense.
