Javier Baez Jul 30 3:00pm ET

The Chicago Cubs have a deal in place to trade shortstop Javier Baez to the New York Mets pending a review of medical records, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB Network. In the short term Baez will figure to take over at shortstop while Lindor remains out with a Grade 2 oblique strain that will keep him sidelined until mid-to-late August. Over 91 games this year, Baez is slashing .248/.292/.484 with 22 homers, 13 steals, 65 RBI and 48 runs scored, and he should provide a solid boost to the Mets lineup.

Javier Baez Jul 30 2:50pm ET

The New York Mets are in discussions with the Chicago Cubs to potentially acquire shortstop Javier Baez, according to Joel Sherman of MLB Network. Sherman adds that the Mets may also be looking into acquiring a pitcher as well in the deal. The Mets had been looking at Rockies shortstop Trevor Story, but Baez may prove to be a more attainable target for New York to acquire. Over 91 games this year, Baez is slashing .248/.292/.484 with 22 homers, 13 steals, 65 RBI and 48 runs scored, and he could provide a solid boost to the Mets lineup. Keep an eye out for further updates as we approach the final hour before the deadline.

Craig Kimbrel Jul 30 2:30pm ET

Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Craig Kimbrel has been traded to the Chicago White Sox, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN. There is currently no word yet on what the return for the Cubs will be. Kimbrel has been one of the best closers in baseball for some time, and over 39 appearances this year, he is 2-3 with a 0.49 ERA, 0.709 WHIP and 46.7 percent strikeout rate over 36 2/3 innings of work. This will make things interesting for the White Sox, as Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that Kimbrel and current closer Liam Hendriks are now expected to share closing duties going forward which will be somewhat of a hit in value to both Hendriks and Kimbrel.

Michael Fulmer Jul 30 2:20pm ET

The Detroit Tigers have had discussions with several teams about potentially trading relief pitcher Michael Fulmer, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network. Fulmer split closing duties earlier this year with Gregory Soto, and over 27 games this season he is 4-4 with a 3.86 ERA, 1.262 WHIP and 25.6 percent strikeout rate over 42 innings of work. He can be a solid option in SV/HLD formats depending on where he lands, if he is traded.

Yan Gomes Jul 30 2:20pm ET

The Toronto Blue Jays are in discussions with the Washington Nationals to potentially acquire catcher Yan Gomes, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network. Gomes was just reinstated from the injured list on Thursday, and over 63 games this year he is slashing .271/.323/.454 with nine homers, 35 RBI and 30 runs scored. The Blue Jays have dealt with several injuries at the catcher position this season, and Gomes would provide a nice boost to Toronto's lineup while also gaining a boost in fantasy value by hitting in a better lineup. The Blue Jays acquired Jose Berrios earlier on Friday, and this could be another big deadline acquisition for Toronto if the deal comes to fruition.

Freddy Peralta Jul 30 2:10pm ET

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta (8-3) picked up the win Thursday after blanking the Pirates across six efficient innings. He allowed two hits and a walk while striking out five. Peralta continued his incredible season by allowing two or fewer hits for the 13th time. The 25-year-old displayed strong command to get the job done while needing only 68 pitches to complete six innings during the blowout victory. Peralta will bring a stellar 2.17 ERA and 0.87 WHIP into a projected rematch against Pittsburgh on Wednesday. He's a must-start, even though it appears as if the Brewers are going to be extra cautious with his innings and pitch count moving foward.

Raisel Iglesias Jul 30 2:10pm ET

The Los Angeles Angels have made relief pitcher Raisel Iglesias available for a trade, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. Iglesias now joins what is a hot trade market for relief pitchers, after going 7-4 with 21 saves, a 3.23 ERA, 0.908 WHIP and 38.6 percent strikeout rate over 47 1/3 innings of work this season. He'll be a solid boost to any contender's bullpen, and is set to be a free agent after 2022, which could mean the Angels get a good return for him. Managers should keep an eye out for further updates as we hit the final stretch before the deadline.

Manny Pina Jul 30 2:10pm ET

Milwaukee Brewers catcher Manny Pina went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI during Thursday's win over the Pirates. Pina took Chris Stratton deep with a 396-foot shot in the sixth inning and swatted his second of the night in the eighth. He now has seven long balls this season while recording his first hits since his last homer on July 7 against the Mets. Although Pina's lack of production is partly due to limited playing time as the team's backup catcher, a .156/.273/.367 slash line isn't doing him any favors.

Byron Buxton Jul 30 2:10pm ET

The Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly one of six or seven teams "checking in on" Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton according to a tweet from MLB Network's Jon Heyman. Buxton is still on the injured list due to a fractured left hand but could make a serious impact down the stretch for fantasy managers when he returns. The outfielder was having a breakout season before landing on the injured list, hitting .369 with a .409 on-base percentage, 10 home runs, and five stolen bases in 110 plate appearances. A trade to a better lineup would only improve things from a fantasy upside standpoint.

Daniel Norris Jul 30 2:03pm ET

The Milwaukee Brewers will acquire Detroit Tigers LHP Daniel Norris in exchange for RHP Reese Olson, according to sources Friday, July 30.

Tyler Chatwood Jul 30 2:00pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Tyler Chatwood was designated for assignment on Friday to make room for the newly acquired Jose Berrios, according to Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic. Chatwood hasn't had great numbers this year, going 1-2 with a 5.46 ERA, 1.429 WHIP and 25.6 percent strikeout rate over 28 innings of work. Any managers that had him rostered can safely drop him to the waiver wire now.

Griffin Jax Jul 30 2:00pm ET

Minnesota Twins pitcher Griffin Jax will start for the team on Thursday night against the St. Louis Cardinals. The 26-year-old previously made his Major League debut this season. He's made six appearances for the Twins, two of which have been starts. Overall, the right-hander has pitched to a 7.48 ERA and a 6.76 FIP in 21.2 innings while striking out 20 batters and walking nine. Even against a Cardinals lineup that can struggle to score runs, you're probably better off looking elsewhere for streaming options.

Rowdy Tellez Jul 30 2:00pm ET

Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double, two RBI and three runs scored during Thursday's win over the Pirates. Tellez crushed an opposite-field 410-footer against Chris Stratton in the seventh to further extend Milwaukee's lead. He also hit an RBI double in the sixth, which would have been a homer in 23 ballparks. The 26-year-old now has four long balls and two doubles while batting .378/.467/.757 across 15 games since recently joining the Brewers. He's riding a very hot bat since being dealt to Milwaukee.

Mark Melancon Jul 30 1:50pm ET

San Diego Padres closer Mark Melancon preserved a 3-0 victory Thursday against the Colorado Rockies, collecting his 32nd save. The veteran right-hander worked around a one-out double by shortstop Trevor Story and avoided any further damage in the painless outing. After a rough stretch last month, Melancon has surrendered just two hits in his last five appearances. He holds a crisp 2.00 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 20 percent strikeout rate in 45 innings. Pending any dramatic moves at the trade deadline, the offseason fantasy lottery ticket should remain a trusted option in the ninth inning.

    From RotoBaller

Mitch Keller Jul 30 1:50pm ET

Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Mitch Keller has reportedly been recalled from Triple-A by the team. Keller previously pitched to a 7.04 ERA and a 4.95 FIP in 47.1 innings for the Pirates this season. He was much better for the organization's Triple-A affiliate though, working to a 3.21 ERA and a 3.02 FIP in 28 innings while striking out 39 batters and walking 13. Keller has had some success in the Majors before and is someone to keep an eye on to see if he can replicate his Triple-A form in Pittsburgh. However, he only has fantasy appeal in deeper leagues at the moment.

Daniel Norris Jul 30 1:50pm ET

Updating an earlier reports, Detroit Tigers relief pitcher has been traded to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for starting pitcher Reese Olson, according to Jason Beck of MLB.com. Norris has looked better on the mound over the last month, posting a 3.24 ERA, 0.720 WHIP and 29 percent strikeout rate over 8 1/3 innings of work, and now he'll become a good option to pick up in SV/HLD formats. Meanwhile, Olson has gone 5-4 with a 4.30 ERA, 1.348 WHIP and 26.9 percent strikeout rate over 69 innings at High-A this year.

Daniel Norris Jul 30 1:40pm ET

The Milwaukee Brewers are in talks with the Detroit Tigers to acquire relief pitcher Daniel Norris, according to Jason Beck of MLB.com. Norris has had a rough start to the season, but had looked better on the mound in the month of July, where he posted a 3.24 ERA, 0.720 WHIP and 29 percent strikeout rate over 8 1/3 innings of work. He would only be a viable option in SV/HLD formats, but he would likely see a slight boost in value moving from the AL Central to the NL Central. Managers should keep an eye out for further updates as we approach the deadline.

    From RotoBaller

Craig Kimbrel Jul 30 1:40pm ET

The Chicago White Sox are in the midst of discussions with the Chicago Cubs to potentially acquire relief pitcher Craig Kimbrel, according to David Kaplan of NBC Sports Chicago. This comes a day after the White Sox acquired relief pitcher Ryan Tepera from their crosstown rivals, as they continue to look for bullpen help. There is no imminent deal, and Kaplan adds that the price will be steep for Kimbrel and that there are several suitors for him, but this would be a huge acquisition for the White Sox if they can make a deal. Managers should continue to keep an eye out for updates over the next few hours.
