From The Godfather: Week 6 Advice

There are 11 teams that have the dreaded five-game schedule this coming week. And to make matters worse for the Yankees and Detroit, they’ll be playing two of their games in NL parks, so they’ll be without the use of a DH.  Oakland is in a similar situation with three games in an NL park, so plan accordingly.

Other teams with a five-game schedule are Texas, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York Yankees, Miami, Los Angeles Angels, Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago and Arizona. Eleven teams are without a two-start pitcher, although this week doesn’t stack up to be a great week for two-start pitchers, especially ones that might be available on your waiver wire.

I am intrigued by one pitcher, Atlanta starter Mike Soroka. He is still trying to earn a spot in the rotation with ailing starters returning. He draws a home start against San Diego (and their rookie phenom Chris Paddack) and a road start in Miami.  Two good outings would go a long way to securing his future in the rotation, and if he’s available on your waiver wire, now would be a good time to claim him.

Other than Vladimir Guerrero Jr., no one seems to be interested in other young players.  Well, maybe not young as he’s been around, but Yandy Diaz has been punishing the ball in Tampa Bay.  He could provide a good source of power for your fantasy team, perhaps, more than young Vlad.  Another claim if he’s on your waiver wire.

If you’re looking for saves and want to speculate a little, Yoan Lopez has been unhittable.  The Arizona reliever has logged 10 innings and given up one home run.  At some point, the Diamondbacks will realize their future closer is already in their bullpen.

Some Sunday injuries are putting playing time in doubt for next week for a few players, so look for updates on Monday for Fernando Tatis Jr., Christian Yelich, Mark Canha, Mitch Haniger and DJ LeMahieu.

Have a good week 6!
