Three teams play only five games this week, Oakland, Philadelphia and San Francisco.
Texas plays eight games with a doubleheader against the Angels on Tuesday, also giving the Angels a seven-game week. The other teams playing seven games in seven days are Washington, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Colorado, Baltimore, Chicago White Sox, Detroit, Houston, Kansas City and Tampa Bay.

All seven of the Rockies games are on the road at Arizona and St. Louis. No Coors Field slugfest this week!

Inter-league play has five teams losing a DH playing in NL parks. Boston is at Philadelphia and San Diego. Cleveland heads to New York to play the Mets. Toronto is at Los Angeles, playing the Dodgers. The New York Yankees are another team playing the Dodgers this week. And Oakland is at San Francisco for a series.

There were some strange names getting saves this past week, so if your looking for saves there might be some help on your waiver wire. It appears Mark Melancon is the preferred guy in Atlanta, getting a couple saves over the weekend with Greene and Jackson in setup roles. Seth Lugo picked up his third save for the Mets, but they did use Edwin Diaz to close out and get the save in a Sunday’s game.

Another intriguing guy is Cubs reliever Rowan Wick. In his last seven games, which covers seven and 2/3 innings, he’s struck out nine and walked none. He was charged with two earned runs when he was lifted in Philly and Bryce Harper took Derek Holland deep for a walk off Grand Slam. But Joe Maddon went back to him two days later and he picked up his first career save. The Cubs bullpen is a mess, and they have Stroup, Cishek and Kimbrel coming back soon, but they’ve all had their struggles. Perhaps the 26-year old Wick might be the guy to put the fires out in Chicago.

If you’re looking for starting pitchers on the waiver wire, the pickings are slim. I picked up White Sox starter Ivan Nova, who was brilliant in his last start, for his two-start week this week against the Twins and Rangers. I put bids in on Steve Matz, Micheal Wacha, Steve Brault and Logan Webb.

I hope you have better options!. Have a great week!
