The Chicago White Sox activated left-hander Martin Perez from the 60-day injured list on Wednesday.

Perez, 34, landed on the 15-day IL on April 19 with left elbow inflammation and moved to the 60-day IL two days later. He made one rehab start each with Triple-A Charlotte and Double-A Birmingham.

Perez was 1-1 with a 3.15 ERA and 18 strikeouts through four starts before the injury. The Chicago Sun-Times reported that he will be used in relief for the time being and came on in the sixth inning of Wednesday's game against the Detroit Tigers for his first outing since April.

He is 91-88 with a 4.43 ERA in 318 career games (273 starts) with six teams since his 2012 debut. He played nine seasons with the Texas Rangers, making the All-Star team in 2022 and winning the World Series in 2023.

To make room on the 26- and 40-man rosters, Chicago optioned Cam Booser to Charlotte and designated fellow left-hander Jared Shuster for assignment.
