Salvador Perez's two-run shot tied the Royals' franchise home run record and highlighted a five-run seventh inning as Kansas City rallied for a 5-4 win over the visiting San Francisco Giants on Wednesday to sweep their three-game series.

Royals starter Seth Lugo (4-6) allowed three runs, three hits and two walks over seven innings, then Steven Cruz overcame Casey Schmitt's solo homer in the ninth for his first career save.

Giants starter Landen Roupp allowed just two runs over six innings and fanned seven. Sam Hentges (1-3) surrendered two runs while retiring just one batters as San Francisco lost its fifth straight.

Kansas City managed just two hits against Roupp in the first six innings while falling behind 3-0.

However, Vinnie Pasquantino opened the bottom of the seventh with a controversial double as he was ruled to have been pushed off second base by shortstop Willy Adames on the tag. Giants manager Tony Vitello was ejected while arguing the call.

Perez followed by matching George Brett's club record of 317 home runs with a 437-foot drive that landed in the fountains beyond the right center wall. While Roupp headed to the showers, Perez took a curtain call as his milestone ignited a rally that would help the Royals complete a 5-1 homestand.

Hentges entered and threw wildly to first on an infield single by Michael Massey, who eventually scored the tying run when pinch hitter Nick Loftin dropped a single into left off Keaton Winn. The Royals loaded the bases with two outs to set up Lane Thomas' tiebreaking two-run single to right center for a 5-3 lead.

Lugo allowed only a Rafael Devers double through the first five innings. He walked Adames to open the sixth, then hit Drew Gilbert. Both runners advanced on Drew Cavanaugh's sacrifice bunt, then Adames scored the game's first run on Luis Arraez's flyout to center.

The Giants added on in the seventh. Devers drew a walk and scored from first on Jung Hoo Lee's two-out double. Adames followed with a ground-rule double to make it 3-0.

Before the game, the Royals placed All-Star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. (lower back tightness) on the 10-day injured list for the first time in his five-year career.
