Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Max Scherzer told reporters Wednesday that his injured forearm isn't responding as well as he would have hoped.

Scherzer, 41, acknowledged as much after a throwing session at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. The three-time Cy Young Award winner was placed on the 15-day injured list April 27 due to left ankle inflammation and right forearm tendinitis.

"Got to talk to more doctors and figure it out," he said of his forearm issue. "The foot, I'm not worried about. My concern is more on this forearm, because now we've given it enough time outside of a start, like I should be ramping back up."

Scherzer is 1-3 with a 9.64 ERA in five games (all starts) this season, his 19th in the majors. He has a career record of 222-120 with a 3.26 ERA in 488 games (479 starts) for seven teams. He is one strikeout shy of 3,500 for his career.
