Starling Marte Aug 21 6:20pm ET

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Starling Marte (personal) is out of the starting lineup for the second consecutive day. Marte was benched on Monday due to lack of effort during Sunday's contest. He is out of the lineup on Tuesday due to a doctor's appointment, according to manager Clint Hurdle. Adam Frazier will bat second and play center field versus righty Kevin Gausman. Frazier is not really worth a look in DFS contests since Gausman has been pitching well lately.

Wilson Ramos Aug 21 6:20pm ET

Philadelphia Phillies catcher Wilson Ramos (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Washington Nationals. It appears this is a rest day for Ramos after two straight starts. Jorge Alfaro will draw the start behind the plate and bat seventh versus righty Tanner Roark. Alfaro is not much of a DFS option batting that low in the order with the pitcher behind him.

Ian Happ Aug 21 6:10pm ET

Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Detroit Tigers. Albert Almora Jr. will lead off and play center field against righty Jordan Zimmermann. Almora has been in an awful slump over the last month. He's in a favorable part of the batting order against a mediocre pitcher on Tuesday. Almora is worth a look in DFS contests, but there should be better options available.

Addison Russell Aug 21 6:00pm ET

Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell (shoulder) is out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Detroit Tigers. Javier Baez will fill in at shortstop and bat third against righty Jordan Zimmermann. It's unclear whether or not this issue is more than a day-to-day type of problem. Regardless, Russell is likely going to lose playing time since the Cubs acquired Daniel Murphy. Baez should be a fairly decent DFS option against Zimmermann on Tuesday.

Amed Rosario Aug 21 5:50pm ET

New York Mets shortstop Amed Rosario could be a sneaky play on Tuesday against the San Francisco Giants. The Giants will trot out right-hander Chris Stratton, who has struggled to a 5.52 ERA this season. Compounding Stratton's problems is that he has struggled against right-handed hitters. Stratton is allowing righties to slash .289/.351/.486 on the season. Rosario finds himself in the leadoff spot yet again on Tuesday and could be in for a big day. Over his last six games, Rosario is hitting .379 with a home run, two doubles and seven RBI.

    From RotoBaller

CC Sabathia Aug 21 5:50pm ET

New York Yankees starting pitcher CC Sabathia (knee) will return to the Yankees' starting rotation on Friday. He's been out since August 13 with mild inflammation in his right knee. He's been a solid option this season, holding a 7-4 record, 3.32 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 106/41 K/BB. He'll face the Orioles on Friday, so he'll be a fairly decent fantasy option for that contest.

    From RotoBaller

Jacob deGrom Aug 21 5:40pm ET

New York Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom continues to bolster his case for the Cy Young Award in the National League. Following his masterful complete game win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday, deGrom became just the fourth pitcher in NL history to record 200 strikeouts in a season and post a sub-2.00 ERA through 25 starts. DeGrom lowered his ERA to an insane 1.71 with the victory on Saturday and improved his record to 8-7. As long as deGrom continues to shut down opponents, it will be hard not to strongly consider the ace for the Cy Young Award, even on a losing team like the Mets.

    From RotoBaller

Gary Sanchez Aug 21 5:40pm ET

New York Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez (groin) will begin a rehab assignment in the Gulf Coast League on Thursday. Sanchez should move onto Triple A after that and be back with the Yankees by next week. He's played in just three games for the Yankees since June 24 with a lingering groin issue. It sounds like he will be back with the Yankees soon, so fantasy owners will have him back in time for the playoffs.

    From RotoBaller

Yu Darvish Aug 21 5:30pm ET

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Yu Darvish (elbow) is out for the rest of the season with stress reaction on his elbow. Darvish was battling elbow issues throughout the season, so it appears the Cubs have decided to shut him down for the rest of the 2018 campaign. Fantasy owners can go ahead and drop Darvish. It's unclear who is going to pitch in his spot in the Cubs rotation. Mike Montgomery will likely stick in Darvish's rotation spot once Monty is off the disabled list.

    From RotoBaller

Kris Bryant Aug 21 4:40pm ET

Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant (shoulder) went through normal pregame drills on Tuesday. Bryant has been sidelined since July 26 with a sore shoulder and it's a good sign that he participated in drills on Tuesday. Bryant also said that he open to playing more outfield after the Cubs acquired infielder Daniel Murphy on Tuesday. Bryant is still without a return date, but is trending in the right direction.

    From RotoBaller

Felix Hernandez Aug 21 4:30pm ET

Seattle Mariners starter Felix Hernandez struck out six hitters through six innings while allowing four runs in the Mariners win over the Astros on Monday. Hernandez was booted from the rotation after his disastrous start on August 7 but got the call to take the place of the injured James Paxton. It wasn't a stellar performance but Hernandez provided some quality innings in a winning effort. After posting a ghastly 9.24 ERA in the month of July, 'King' Felix still holds a 5.96 ERA in August and has not won a game since June 30. He no longer is the ace of yore, but he may have done enough to earn another opportunity in the rotation moving forward. Either way, Hernandez is no longer fantasy viable.

    From RotoBaller

Brandon Crawford Aug 21 4:00pm ET

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford will rest on Tuesday versus the New York Mets. Crawford has had a cold bat of late and is hitting just .189 over the past month. Infielder Alen Hanson will bat eighth and play shortstop Tuesday. Hanson has been hitting well lately and also offers stolen base potential. Hanson is worth a dart throw versus Steven Matz on Tuesday in DFS.

    From RotoBaller

Brandon Belt Aug 21 4:00pm ET

The San Francisco Giants will rest first baseman Brandon Belt on Tuesday. Belt has struggled lately and has just seven hits over his last 38 at-bats. Belt will be replaced at first base by outfielder Austin Slater. Slater will bat fifth and is hitting .172 over his last 29 at-bats and can be avoided versus Mets starter Steven Matz on Tuesday.

    From RotoBaller

Buster Posey Aug 21 3:50pm ET

San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey will rest on Tuesday versus the New York Mets. It's just a normal day of rest for Posey and he is replaced by Nick Hundley. Hundley will bat fourth versus Mets starter Steven Matz and is hitting .284 versus lefties this season. Hundley is worth a dart throw in DFS on Tuesday.

Roberto Osuna Aug 21 3:10pm ET

Houston Astros manager A.J. Hinch has told reporters that reliever Roberto Osuna will handle the closing duties moving forward. Osuna was acquired amidst plenty of controversy from the Blue Jays and has allowed one run through five innings pitched out of the bullpen for the Astros since August 6. Osuna locked down 39 saves last season for the Blue Jays but also blew 10 opportunities. The Astros have struggled with the back-end of their bullpen all season after reliever Ken Giles imploded early in the year. Houston is currently locked in a tie with the A's for the division lead and wins have been hard to come by lately. Osuna is worth a look based on his upcoming opportunities for saves but it is unclear how effective he will be for the stretch run.

    From RotoBaller

Mike Zunino Aug 21 3:10pm ET

Seattle Mariners catcher Mike Zunino is hitting .083 (2-for-24) with 11 strikeouts over his last seven games played heading into Tuesday's action. This comes after a six-game stretch where he hit four home runs but now has eight strikeouts in his last 13 at-bats. The once highly-touted prospect has plenty of power (17 home runs) but his swing-and-miss tendencies make him almost unusable in fantasy formats. He is on pace for 22 bombs this season but his .193 average and .248 on-base percentage are unavoidable red flags.

    From RotoBaller

Marwin Gonzalez Aug 21 3:00pm ET

Houston Astros infielder/outfielder Marwin Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with one double, one home run and three runs batted in Monday night. Gonzalez is now slugging .600 over his last 15 games and is hitting .333 in the month of August. To this point, this is the hottest stretch the versatile player has put up in a season he would quickly like to forget. After driving in 90 runs in 2017, Gonzalez has struggled mightily this season and is hitting only .245 with 50 runs batted in. But he is squaring up the baseball now and has been one of the more consistent hitters in the Astros lineup over the past few weeks. Gonzalez has short-term value in fantasy during this hot streak but he cannot be trusted to ride this wave of productivity for the rest of the year.

Matt Adams Aug 21 2:50pm ET

The St. Louis Cardinals are set to acquire first baseman Matt Adams from the Washington Nationals. With the Nationals finally admitting that their 2018 playoff hopes are over, they've reportedly traded both Adams and Daniel Murphy. Adams has been solid this season, hitting .257/.332/.510 with 18 home runs. He'll serve as a power bat off the bench for St. Louis and should get occasional starts against right-handed pitchers. He could be a good DFS choice when he's in the lineup, but might not get consistent enough playing time for standard leagues.

    From RotoBaller

Daniel Murphy Aug 21 2:50pm ET

Washington Nationals second baseman Daniel Murphy is heading to the Windy City as he was acquired by the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday afternoon. Prospect infielder Andruw Monasterio is going back to the Nationals. Murphy was recovering from microfracture knee surgery for the first 63 games of the season and struggled upon his return. Since then, he has batted .340 over his past 30 games and adds even more postseason experience to a savvy Cubs roster. It seems as though Murphy will not occupy an everyday role with the team, as the Cubs are deep enough to offer him a decent amount of rest. For this reason, there should be a small down-tick in Murphy's at-bat totals, but he will still offer solid production to fantasy owners.

    From RotoBaller

Mike Leake Aug 21 2:40pm ET

Seattle Mariners starter Mike Leake will face the Astros Tuesday night at Safeco Field. Leake has been impressive thus far in August, posting an ERA of 2.18 and 1.02 WHIP over his last three starts. It will be the fourth time Leake has faced the Astros this season and is 0-2 against them with a 5.00 ERA through 18 innings pitched. Leake has been a solid, veteran innings-eater this season but Tuesday represents one of the bigger starts of his season.
