Trevor Story Aug 23 7:00pm ET

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Story will get a rare off day in this one, but should be back in the lineup for next game. Garrett Hampson will cover shortstop and bat eighth versus righty Jack Flaherty. Hampson doesn't have any fantasy value going into this one. He might have some NL-only appeal, but he doesn't play enough to warrant ownership in most formats.

    C.J. Cron Aug 23 6:50pm ET

Minnesota Twins first baseman C.J. Cron (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Detroit Tigers. The Twins will give their slugging first baseman a routine day off here. Ehire Adrianza will cover first base and bat seventh versus righty Drew VerHagen. Adrianza has been unstoppable with the bat lately, so he's a sneaky fantasy option right now. He doesn't have much power in his bat, but seems to get on base just about every at-bat.

    From RotoBaller

Jackie Bradley Jr. Aug 23 6:50pm ET

Boston Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the San Diego Padres. The Red Sox are without a designated hitter in this series, so JBJ will take a sit. He'll likely sit out throughout most of the series, so fantasy owners should seek other options for this weekend. J.D. Martinez will play right field and bat cleanup versus righty Chris Paddack. Martinez is always a solid option for DFS contests.

    From RotoBaller

Aledmys Diaz Aug 23 6:40pm ET

Houston Astros infielder Aledmys Diaz (head) will start his rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday and will play both Saturday and Sunday. The 29-year-old Cuban should return to the Astros at some point next week, where he'll help fill the void left by Carlos Correa's (back) injury. Diaz has been a decent utility man for the 'Stros this year, hitting .267/.320/.474 with seven long balls and 28 RBI. He's still not very attractive in mixed leagues, though, unless he's guaranteed everyday playing time when he returns, which is unlikely.

    From RotoBaller

Wilson Ramos Aug 23 6:40pm ET

New York Mets third baseman Todd Frazier (rest) and catcher Wilson Ramos (rest) are out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Both veteran sluggers will get a routine rest day off. Luis Guillorme will get the start at third base and bat sixth versus righty Mike Foltynewicz. Tomas Nido will bat eighth and do the catching on Friday. Foltynewicz comes into the game with an ERA over six, but neither player is worth a look in DFS contests.

    From RotoBaller

Nick Markakis Aug 23 6:40pm ET

Atlanta Braves outfielder Nick Markakis (wrist) is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a fractured wrist, according to manager Brian Snitker. Markakis will need at least several more weeks before he even considers a return to Atlanta, which is too late for fantasy owners in 2019. The 35-year-old veteran was hitting .284/.358/.429 with nine home runs, 57 runs and 55 RBI at the time of his injury. The Braves outfield is beat up with Ender Inciarte possibly out for the year, so some combination of Charlie Culberson, Adam Duvall and Matt Joyce will continue to fill in alongside Ronald Acuna until Markakis is able to return.

    From RotoBaller

Starlin Castro Aug 23 6:40pm ET

Miami Marlins infielder Starlin Castro (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Castro will get a rare off day here as he plays just about every single game. Neil Walker will play third base and bat second versus righty Vince Velasquez. Walker has been hot since returning from the injured list, so he has some fantasy value against the mediocre Velasquez on Friday.

    From RotoBaller

Jose Martinez Aug 23 6:30pm ET

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jose Martinez (shoulder) said that he expects to start his rehab assignment with Double-A Springfield on Monday. Barring any setbacks, Martinez could return to the Cardinals at some point late next week. The 31-year-old is hitting .266/.336/.401 on the season with 10 home runs, 42 runs and 40 RBI in 312 at-bats. When he's back in the big leagues, he'll be fighting for playing time among Harrison Bader, Marcell Ozuna, Dexter Fowler, Lane Thomas and Tyler O'Neill. It's safe to say that Martinez will be a part-time player, at best, the rest of the way.

    From RotoBaller

Jeimer Candelario Aug 23 6:30pm ET

Detroit Tigers third baseman Jeimer Candelario (thumb) has been activated from the 10-day injured list on Friday. However, Candelario will be sent to the minors, so Dawel Lugo will remain the guy at third in Detroit. Candelario hit .198 with seven home runs and 24 RBI with the Tigers this season. There is potential in his bat, but he was not able to tap into it this season. He'll likely get another chance once the roster expand, but Candelario won't have any fantasy value this season.

    From RotoBaller

Miguel Rojas Aug 23 6:30pm ET

Miami Marlins shortstop Miguel Rojas (hamstring) will begin his rehab assignment with High-A Jupiter on Friday and is scheduled to play five innings. The 30-year-old has been out most of August but could return to the Fish before the end of the month. Rojas is hitting a respectable .289/.344/.384 but lacks power (four homers) and doesn't run much either (six stolen bases). That makes him really only useful in NL-only leagues while hitting in a weak Marlins lineup.

    From RotoBaller

Eric Skoglund Aug 23 6:20pm ET

Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost said that pitcher Eric Skoglund will make the start on Sunday against the Indians. Skoglund has yet to pitch in the big leagues in 2019 and was 1-6 with a 5.14 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and meager 6.3 K/9 in 70 innings (13 starts, one relief outing) last season. The left-hander sports an ugly 6.04 ERA and has allowed 12 homers in 73 innings (13 starts) in two minor league stops this year. You can safely avoid him as a streaming option against the Tribe this weekend.

    From RotoBaller

Byron Buxton Aug 23 6:20pm ET

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (shoulder) was able to go through all baseball activities on Friday without any issues. He is likely going to begin a rehab assignment on Saturday, assuming he feels fine. Buxton has missed basically all of August due to a left shoulder subluxation. He should be back in the Twins lineup by the end of August or early September.

    From RotoBaller

Eloy Jimenez Aug 23 6:20pm ET

Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez (hip) remains out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Texas Rangers. He was a late scratch on Thursday due to a sore left hip. Leury Garcia will bat leadoff and play left field versus righty Lance Lynn. Garcia hasn't done much with the bat over the last two weeks, so he can be avoided in DFS contests on Friday.

    From RotoBaller

Danny Duffy Aug 23 6:10pm ET

Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost said that starting pitcher Danny Duffy (hamstring) will make a rehab start for Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Sunday. Duffy should be able to return to the rotation before season's end, but he's unlikely to help fantasy owners much. The left-hander has had another rough season for the rebuilding Royals, going 5-6 with a 4.93 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 90 strikeouts and 36 walks in 100 1/3 innings over 18 starts. Those in mixed leagues should be content to leave Duffy alone for the rest of the season.

    From RotoBaller

Pablo Lopez Aug 23 6:10pm ET

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Pablo Lopez (shoulder) is expected to rejoin the starting rotation by next week. However, the Marlins may decide to have Lopez make another rehab start, which would push him back a bit longer. He's been sidelined since mid-June due to a shoulder issue. Lopez is 5-5 with a 4.23 ERA in 14 starts this season with Miami. He's an option for deep leagues and possibly some mixed leagues where owners are desperate for pitching.

    From RotoBaller

Yordan Alvarez Aug 23 6:10pm ET

Houston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. Alvarez will get a routine day off here against the left-handed starter. George Springer will bat leadoff and serve as the designated hitter versus lefty Jose Suarez. Springer has been swinging a hot bat lately, so he's a strong candidate for DFS contests.

    From RotoBaller

Derek Dietrich Aug 23 6:10pm ET

The Cincinnati Reds activated second baseman/outfielder Derek Dietrich (shoulder) from the injured list on Friday. Dietrich missed 16 games with left shoulder inflammation and was 2-for-11 with two runs, two strikeouts and a hit by pitch in three rehab games. He's at first base and is hitting seventh against Pirates starter Mitch Keller in his return. Dietrich had cooled off considerably before his injury, however, so you may want to hold him out of your lineups until he proves that he's completely healthy again. On the season, the 30-year-old is hitting just .207/.349/.514 with 19 home runs and 43 RBI.

    From RotoBaller

Avisail Garcia Aug 23 6:10pm ET

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Avisail Garcia (oblique) is expected to be activated off the 10-day injured list on Saturday. Garcia has been out of action for the last week or so due to a right oblique issue. He seems to be playing well during his rehab games, so Garcia is on track to rejoin the Rays on Saturday.

    From RotoBaller

Luke Farrell Aug 23 6:03pm ET

Texas Rangers RHP Luke Farrell (jaw) was activated from the 60-day injured list Friday, Aug. 23. The team also optioned LHP Locke St. John to Class AAA Nashville and designated RHP Shane Carle for assignment.
