Chi Chi Gonzalez Aug 25 11:50am ET

Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Chi Chi Gonzalez had a rough outing Saturday against the Cardinals, and he really struggled to find the strike zone. Gonzalez walked six batters in just 4 1/3 innings of work, allowing five earned runs en route to his fifth loss of the season. Gonzalez has yet to record a win since he joined the Rockies even though he's posted a few good outings. He's mostly useless in fantasy though, as he actually walks more than he strikes out, averages one home run allowed per outing, and has only recorded six innings of work once.

Tony Wolters Aug 25 11:50am ET

Colorado Rockies catcher Tony Wolters was one of the few members of the team to collect a hit on Saturday in the team's loss to the Cardinals, and it seems like he finds a way to chip in with the bat in pretty much every game. Wolters has either gotten a hit, scored a run, or driven in a run in all but three games in August. He hasn't tallied huge counting stats, hitting just one home run and driving in 33 while scoring 37 runs this season, but his .279 batting average is the fifth best in the league amongst regular starting catchers. Owners can certainly do worse with a catcher.

Jose Ramirez Aug 25 11:43am ET

The Cleveland Indians placed INF Jose Ramirez (wrist) on the 10-day injured list Sunday, Aug. 25. In a corresponding move, INF Yu Chang was recalled from Class AAA Columbus.

Yu Chang Aug 25 11:43am ET

The Cleveland Indians placed INF Jose Ramirez (wrist) on the 10-day injured list Sunday, Aug. 25. In a corresponding move, INF Yu Chang was recalled from Class AAA Columbus.

Ian Desmond Aug 25 11:40am ET

Colorado Rockies outfielder Ian Desmond continues to slog his way through another poor season by going just 4-for-24 over the last two weeks. It's another sub-par season for Desmond as he's hitting just .257 with 14 home runs and three stolen bases in just over 400 plate appearances. Desmond got hot for about six weeks early in the summer, but age caught up to the 33-year-old even though he gets regular days off to allow young Raimel Tapia to get chances. The Rockies are stuck with Desmond for another two years, but fantasy owners shouldn't be.

Jose Alvarado Aug 25 10:33am ET

Tampa Bay Rays RP Jose Alvarado (elbow) is headed to the injured list due to an elbow injury, according to manager Kevin Cash.

Scott Kingery Aug 25 10:30am ET

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Scott Kingery went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer Saturday at Miami. Kingery finally seems to be busting out of an extended slump since the All-Star break that got him moved down in the order. Kingery batted an abysmal .192 in July and the homer Saturday was his first since August 5. He seems to be coming around, though, with five hits in his last four games and is making 46.3 percent hard contact this month. He's got another good matchup Sunday vs Elieser Hernandez and the Marlins and fantasy owners should move Kingery back into their lineups.

Zach Eflin Aug 25 10:30am ET

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zach Eflin allowed two runs in six innings while earning his eighth win of the season Saturday in Miami. Eflin scattered six hits and didn't walk a batter but only struck out two on the evening. It was a nice bounce-back effort for Eflin who was only making his second start since being moved back into the rotation, but he's not someone who needs to be owned in standard size leagues. His xFIP is at 4.83 and he strikes out less than 7.5 batters per nine innings which limits his upside even when he does pitch well. He'll have streaming appeal in starts like this one with a good matchup but most of his fantasy value is in deep leagues or NL-Only.

    From RotoBaller

Brock Holt Aug 25 10:20am ET

Boston Red Sox infielder Brock Holt went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Angels. Holt's solo shot in the top of the ninth gave Boston the go-head 5-4 lead; it was his second home run of the week but just third of the year. Despite the lack of power, Holt has been solid offensively, batting .315 with a .842 OPS this year to go with his three homers and 24 RBI. However, Michael Chavis (shoulder) is due to return soon from his injured list stint so Holt's playing time could become more spotty as the season winds down. He doesn't deserve any fantasy consideration outside of AL-only formats.

    From RotoBaller

Willie Calhoun Aug 25 10:20am ET

Texas Rangers outfielder Willie Calhoun hit his 15th home run of the season Saturday in Chicago as part of a 2-for-4 night. Calhoun continues to be one of the hottest hitters in baseball with eight homers and a .617 slugging percentage in August. The top prospect is batting .292 on the season while with a very impressive 16.9 percent strikeout rate. When he does make contact he's hitting line drives over 20 percent of the time and making hard contact at a 39.4 percent rate. He's a must-start player right now with another good matchup Sunday against Reynaldo Lopez.

    From RotoBaller

Christian Vazquez Aug 25 10:20am ET

Boston Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez finished 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and a run scored in Saturday's win over the LA Angels. Vazquez continues his breakout season after his two-RBI double in the fourth inning pushed his total to 55 RBI on the season. He's also doubled eight times in August, including three in the last four games. On the year, he's slashing .285/.324/.487 with 18 homers and 54 runs. He's on pace to finish as a top 5 catcher in fantasy and could be considered the same when the 2020 draft season comes around.

    From RotoBaller

Mookie Betts Aug 25 10:10am ET

Boston Red Sox right fielder Mookie Betts went 2-for-5 with a run batted in during Saturday's 5-4 win over the Angels. The 26-year-old got Boston on the board in the first with an RBI-single before roping his 38th double in the top of the ninth. Betts has been a little more average after an incredible July, however, he's still hitting .279 with three homers and 11 RBI in August.

    From RotoBaller

Willson Contreras Aug 25 10:03am ET

Chicago Cubs C Willson Contreras (hamstring) has been participating in daily running and agility drills recently and resumed throwing to second base Saturday, Aug. 24. However, manager Joe Maddon said that he hasn't resumed on-field hitting yet and there is no timetable for his return.

Brandon Workman Aug 25 10:00am ET

Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Brandon Workman delivered a scoreless ninth inning to earn his eighth save in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Angels. While Workman recorded all three outs via the strikeout, but he also walked two hitters in the appearances. Nonetheless, he is Boston's closer for the time being and has been very solid in the role. He's now 9-1, with a 2.02 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and 82 strikeouts over 58 innings this year. If Workman is still available in your league and you need saves, he is definitely worthy of an add.

    From RotoBaller

Matt Barnes Aug 25 10:00am ET

Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Matt Barnes earned the win after a scoreless eighth inning in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Angels. Barnes allowed one hit, while striking out one, and he hasn't allowed a run over his last five appearances. He improves to 4-4 on the year with a 4.41 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and an 87/27 K/BB over 49 innings this year. However, Brandon Workman is still the reliever to own in Boston, after he recorded his eighth save on Saturday.

    From RotoBaller

Nathan Eovaldi Aug 25 9:50am ET

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi allowed two runs on four hits over three innings, while striking out three and walking one in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Padres. Eovaldi went back out for the fourth but a two-run homer by Eric Hosmer chased him from the game. The Red Sox rotation is broken and battered right now so the 29-year-old is back in the rotation. However, it seems that manager Alex Cora is either stretching him out over the remainder of the season or just uses Eovaldi as an extended opener. Over 17 appearances, he's 1-0 with a 6.64 ERA, a 5.86 FIP, and a 38/19 K/BB. He's slated to get a start on Friday against the Angels. However, he can't be used in fantasy again until he's allowed to go deeper into ballgames.

Ben Zobrist Aug 25 9:33am ET

Chicago Cubs INF/OF Ben Zobrist (personal) is continuing to rehab with Class AAA Iowa but is expected to be activated from the restricted list prior to Sunday, Sept. 1.

Kendall Graveman Aug 25 9:33am ET

Chicago Cubs RHP Kendall Graveman (elbow) appeared in an Arizona League game Thursday, Aug. 22. He has spent the entire season recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Shohei Ohtani Aug 25 9:23am ET

Los Angeles Angels DH/RHP Shohei Ohtani (elbow) threw a combination of curveballs, sliders and fastballs during a 35-pitch bullpen session Saturday, Aug. 24. He will work on throwing splitters in a future session. Ohtani 's pitching goal for this season is to face hitters in a simulated game before he stops throwing over the winter.

Byron Buxton Aug 25 9:13am ET

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Class A Cedar Rapids Sunday, Aug. 25. He will serve as a designated hitter in his first game and is expected to play in the outfield Monday, Aug. 26. If all goes well, he could be activated from the injured list during the team's series versus the Chicago White Sox, which begins Tuesday, Aug. 27.
