  • Player Notes
Travis Shaw May 19 5:13pm ET

Milwaukee Brewers INF Travis Shaw (wrist) took some swings before the game Sunday, May 19, and did not report any problems. He is expected to begin a rehab assignment in the near future.

Mike Clevinger May 19 4:53pm ET

Cleveland Indians RHP Mike Clevinger (back) threw 35 pitches during a bullpen session Saturday, May 18. He is expected to increase his workload in his next bullpen session.

Matt Adams May 19 4:50pm ET

Washington Nationals first baseman Matt Adams continues to progress in his return from a shoulder strain that has shelved him since May 5. He was able to take some swings on Sunday, but we're still awaiting a clear timetable for his return. Adams has three homers and a .250 average in 67 plate appearances as the Nats are also down Ryan Zimmerman as well at first base. Upon Adams' return to the lineup, he's nothing more than an NL-only option for as long as Zimmerman is out.

Yandy Diaz May 19 4:40pm ET

Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Yandy Diaz exited Sunday's game after being hit by a pitch on his left hand in the seventh inning. X-rays came back negative and he is considered day-to-day with a hand contusion. Diaz was 1-for-3 with a run in this game and is batting .256 on the year with nine homers. The Rays have an off-day Monday before the Dodgers come to town for a two-game set. Expect Diaz to be out there at some point in this series and to continue to build on a fine debut season with the Rays

Jorge Alfaro May 19 4:23pm ET

Miami Marlins C Jorge Alfaro (calf) hopes to return to the starting lineup Tuesday, May 21.

Jon Berti May 19 4:23pm ET

Miami Marlins INF Jonathan Berti (oblique) was scratched from the starting lineup Sunday, May 19, because of a strained left oblique and is considered day-to-day.

Victor Robles May 19 4:10pm ET

Washington Nationals outfielder Victor Robles is back in the lineup after missing Saturday's game as a precautionary measure. He was hit by a pitch in Friday night's game, but after X-rays on his wrist came back negative, he's good to go against Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks. Robles will slide into his accustomed ninth spot in the lineup as he's having a good year with eight homers and eight steals this season. The future is bright for the 22-year-old not only for the long term but for the 2019 season as well. Expect his bat to pick up after hitting .253 so far, and the steals to truly flourish once this happens.

Yasiel Puig May 19 4:00pm ET

The Cincinnati Reds were forced to pull outfielder Yasiel Puig early from their game on Sunday after he made an outstanding catch down the right field line. He crashed hard into the wall and was favoring his left arm afterwards resulting in his removal from the game. Puig was 0-for-3 on the afternoon against Dodgers starter Hyun-Jin Ryu and has now seen his average drop to .206. It hasn't been the start that Reds fans and fantasy owners had hoped from the 28-year-old and this situation certainly doesn't look promising. Look for an update from the team after the game as he may be forced to miss some time.

    From RotoBaller

Kyle Schwarber May 19 3:40pm ET

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber is batting leadoff in Sunday night's game versus Nationals right-hander Jeremy Hellickson. It's the fourth-straight game Schwarber is batting out of the leadoff spot despite hitting just 2-for-11 in the last three games. The left-handed swinger is surprisingly hitting southpaws better this year with a .273 average compared to .210 against right-handers, but five of his six homers have come against righties. Schwarber is in a great spot to contribute to DFS lineups tonight, and it's an encouraging sign for fantasy owners in season-long leagues.

    From RotoBaller

George Springer May 19 3:40pm ET

Houston Astros outfielder George Springer left Sunday's game versus the Red Sox after five innings with what appears to be a back injury. Chris Sale struck him out in all three plate appearances as he was grimacing and favoring his back throughout the game. It's not a good sign for the Astros or fantasy owners as Springer is currently on an MVP pace with 17 homers and 42 RBI out of the leadoff spot. Look for an update on Springer post game before setting weekly lineups this evening.

    From RotoBaller

Starling Marte May 19 3:30pm ET

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Starling Marte is sitting on Sunday against Padres starter Cal Quantrill. It's a routine day of rest for the 30-year-old who's hitting .314 over his last seven games and .252 on the season. Marte remains a candidate to have a 20/20 season as he's sitting at four homers and seven steals so far through 33 games. Look for him to build on his recent success when the Rockies come to visit for a three-game set beginning Tuesday.

    From RotoBaller

Elias Diaz May 19 3:20pm ET

Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Elias Diaz is behind the plate once again for the fourth-straight game on Sunday versus Padres starter Cal Quantrill. There's no word if regular starter Francisco Cervelli is injured or perhaps he just needs a mental break after hitting just .179 through 32 games. Diaz hasn't exactly been tearing it up either with just a .204 batting average in 15 games, but it's a situation to monitor in the coming days. Owners can afford to cut ties with Cervelli in single-catcher leagues, and Diaz is now a name to consider in two-catcher formats if he continues to get additional playing time.

    From RotoBaller

Mike Foltynewicz May 19 3:10pm ET

Atlanta Braves starter Mike Foltynewicz left Sunday's start early after throwing 67 pitches through six innings of work. The right-hander struck out in the bottom of the sixth inning possibly injuring himself on a swing as he curiously wasn't on the mound to begin the seventh. Foltynewicz was having one of his best games of the year giving up three hits with three strikeouts and two solo homers given up against a tough Brewers lineup. After missing the first month of the year with an elbow injury he's struggled to regain his 2018 form, so it's discouraging news after this decent outing. Look for an update later this afternoon on his status going forward.

    From RotoBaller

Matt Carpenter May 19 3:10pm ET

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter is getting a breather on Sunday versus Rangers lefty Drew Smyly. It's a routine off-day for the 33-year-old who's having a disappointing season batting .206 with five homers. Carpenter has turned it around lately with hits in four of his last five games including a home run on Thursday. Look for Carpenter to keep his momentum going when the Royals come to town for a two-game set starting Tuesday.

    From RotoBaller

Jake Cronenworth May 19 2:13pm ET

Tampa Bay Rays INF Jake Cronenworth is experimenting with becoming a two-way player. On Saturday, May 18, he opened a game for Triple-A Durham and pitched one scoreless inning.

Mike Wright May 19 1:33pm ET

Seattle Mariners RHP David McKay was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday, May 19. In a corresponding move, RHP Mike Wright was designated for assignment.
