Jeremy Hellickson May 21 3:13pm ET

Washington Nationals RHP Jeremy Hellickson (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained right shoulder Tuesday, May 21. The team also activated RP Javy Guerra to the active roster.

Masahiro Tanaka May 21 3:10pm ET

New York Yankees starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka (shin) is scheduled to make his next start on Thursday against the Orioles. Tanaka took a liner off his shin in his last outing over the weekend and had to leave the game early. The Japanese right-hander has been very solid this year, going 3-3 with a 3.09 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 53 strikeouts in 58 1/3 innings over his 10 starts. You'll certainly want him in your fantasy lineups when he squares off against the lowly O's on the road this Thursday.

Julio Urias May 21 3:03pm ET

Los Angeles Dodgers LHP Julio Urias was reinstated from administrative leave Tuesday, May 21. The team also optioned OF Kyle Garlick to Class AAA Oklahoma City.

Jeremy Hellickson May 21 2:50pm ET

Washington Nationals starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson was placed on the injured list on Tuesday with a strained right shoulder. Pitcher Javy Guerra takes his place on the active roster. The Nationals are now without two-fifths of their Opening Day rotation with Anibal Sanchez out as well. Hellickson just pitched Sunday but the Nationals will soon need a starter to take his place. Joe Ross is one possibility, but nothing has been announced. Hellickson is 2-3 with a 6.23 ERA and 1.72 WHIP, losing all fantasy relevance. Even in NL-only leagues, he's waiver fodder, especially now that he's out hurt.

Johnny Cueto May 21 2:40pm ET

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Johnny Cueto (elbow) impressed the coaching staff during his bullpen session on Saturday, and manager Bruce Bochy said there's a chance that the veteran hurler returns later this season. "He threw really, really well," Bochy said. "I think he surprised a lot of us with where he's at as far as his stuff, how hard he threw, his command." Cueto has lost around 20 pounds and looks to be in excellent shape during his rehab from Tommy John surgery. He has thrown five bullpen sessions and has also started throwing his changeup off flat ground. Even if Cueto returns this year, he won't be able to give fantasy owners more than a handful of starts in a best-case scenario.

David Hale May 21 2:23pm ET

New York Yankees RP David Hale was recalled from Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, May 21. The team also optioned RP Nestor Cortes to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and transferred 3B Miguel Andujar from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.

Shohei Ohtani May 21 2:20pm ET

Los Angeles Angels designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (elbow), who is recovering from Tommy John surgery last October, is now throwing four times a week instead of three times. However, he still won't pitch at all in 2019 and is only throwing on flat ground and not at full intensity. In 48 at-bats this year, Ohtani is hitting .250 (12-for-48) with two home runs and eight RBI. He'll be plenty useful for his power/speed combination as a hitter in fantasy leagues after winning American League Rookie of the Year in 2018.

Justin Upton May 21 2:20pm ET

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Justin Upton (toe) hasn't had any setbacks from with his left toe injury, but he also said he's still "a while" away from returning. His initial timeline of eight to 12 weeks hasn't changed, and he could be out roughly another month. Upton hasn't started running on flat ground but has been using a gravity-altering treadmill, which allows him to put only around 80 percent of his body weight on his feet. He's also been doing light throwing and swinging. He hit .257/.344/.463 with 30 home runs, 18 doubles and 85 RBI in 145 games last season and needs to remain stashed in all leagues. Brian Goodwin continues to man left field on most days in his absence.

Zack Greinke May 21 2:10pm ET

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zack Greinke (abdomen) will make his next scheduled start on Tuesday against the Padres after his MRI exam came back clean over the weekend. It's great news for his fantasy owners. Greinke is a must-start while going 6-1 with a 2.78 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 62 strikeouts in 64 2/3 innings over his 10 starts on the season. Fire him up at Petco Park for Tuesday night.

    From RotoBaller

Erick Fedde May 21 1:50pm ET

Washington Nationals pitcher Erick Fedde will get the nod on Tuesday against the New York Mets. The 26-year-old will make his first start of the 2019 season after making five appearances (10 2/3 innings) out of the bullpen. Fedde has a 3.38 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 5.9 K/9 this year. He makes for a very risky fantasy streaming option since he's not stretched out and is unlikely to throw many innings against New York.

    From RotoBaller

Devon Travis May 21 1:40pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Devon Travis (knee) had another setback and has yet to play in 2019 due to right knee soreness. He recently experienced more pain in his knee after ramping up the intensity of his workouts in Florida. He was sent to New York to be examined by Dr. Riley Williams, but not structural damage was found and Travis received a platelet-rich plasma injection to reduce inflammation. There is no timetable for his return. The 28-year-old has talent but has never been able to stay healthy in the majors. Travis has never played in more than 103 games in a single season and sports a career .274/.314/.437 slash line in 316 games over four seasons. You can continue to ignore him everywhere.

    From RotoBaller

Clay Buchholz May 21 1:40pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Clay Buchholz (shoulder) has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain of his teres major muscle, which is located in the upper back and right shoulder area. He's scheduled to receive a second opinion this week from Dr. James Andrews, but there is currently no timetable for his return. It's looking like he'll miss significant time if the original diagnosis is confirmed. Out for the foreseeable future, Buchholz can safely be dropped in most leagues now. The veteran right-hander was 0-2 with a 6.57 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 12 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings in his five starts for Toronto.

    From RotoBaller

Aledmys Diaz May 21 1:30pm ET

Houston Astros infielder Aledmys Diaz (hamstring) is improving from a Grade 1 left hamstring strain that he suffered last Friday, and he could return to the lineup as soon as Tuesday. Manager A.J. Hinch said that Diaz will be back Tuesday "if all goes well." Diaz has been decent this year for Houston as a utility infielder, hitting .266/.307/.519 with five home runs and 21 RBI in 79 at-bats. He should continue to see playing time at the keystone until Jose Altuve (hamstring) is back from the injured list.

    From RotoBaller

Javier Baez May 21 1:20pm ET

Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez (heel) will not start on Tuesday. Manager Joe Maddon announced the news on a local radio station and Baez remains day-to-day with a heel contusion. Its likely that Addison Russell will be at shortstop tonight versus Phillies starter Zach Eflin. Russell is no more than a dart throw in DFS Tuesday.

    From RotoBaller

Anthony Rendon May 21 1:10pm ET

Washington Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon had another big game Monday night at Citi Field against the New York Mets. Rendon reached base safely all four times he came to plate, walking twice, hitting his ninth home run and notching his league-leading 17th double. Rendon has been a bright spot in a dark season for the Nationals, hitting .324 with an OPS of 1.141. It looks like the first All-Star appearance is in order for the third baseman. Rendon will continue to anchor fantasy lineups the rest of the year.

    From RotoBaller

Franmil Reyes May 21 11:00am ET

San Diego Padres outfielder Franmil Reyes blasted his 15th homer Monday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Reyes two-run shot in the sixth inning determined the outcome in a tight 2-1 contest. Through 48 games, the 23-year-old slugger holds a sturdy .258/.299/.596 slash with 48 runs-plus-RBI. Reyes is both walking and striking out less this season but pummeling the ball with immense authority (.615 expected slugging). Hes one long ball away from the 16 he smacked during his 2018 rookie campaign in 121 fewer plate appearances. Solidified at right field on most nights, Reyes has evolved into a bankable power source in all fantasy formats.
