Framber Valdez Aug 24 6:00pm ET

Houston Astros pitcher Framber Valdez will get the starting nod Sunday versus the Angels, and he'll remain in the rotation moving forward. Manager AJ Hinch confirmed he'll take over Aaron Sanchez' spot in the rotation after he was placed on the IL earlier this week. Valdez holds an underwhelming 5.58 ERA and 1.58 WHIP through 20 appearances with the Astros this season, but will carry fantasy value the rest of the way as a starter. He's streamable in his start Sunday, and his next matchup will come August 31 against the Blue Jays in another juicy matchup. He's worth a pickup in all formats.

Robbie Ray Aug 24 5:50pm ET

Arizona Diamondbacks starter Robbie Ray will rejoin the club for Sunday's start against the Brewers. The southpaw has been shelved for the minimum 10 days with back spasms, and will return to the rotation after he came out of his bullpen session Friday with no pain. Ray holds a 10-7 record with a 3.99 ERA and 187 strikeouts in 142.0 IP this season, proving to be one of the league's top punchout arms once again. Owners should slide him back into starting lineups despite the hitter-friendly environment in Milwaukee.

Willi Castro Aug 24 5:40pm ET

The Detroit Tigers called up infield prospect Willi Castro from Triple-A Toledo on Saturday. The team's No. 11 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, Castro has a real opportunity to see regular playing time in the final month of the season after Niko Goodrum (groin) just went on the injured list. The 22-year-old switch-hitter was tearing it up on the farm, too, hitting .301/.366/.467 with 28 doubles, eight triples, 11 home runs, 62 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 119 games for Toledo. He's worth attention in AL-only leagues, at the very minimum, and he could be worth picking up in deeper leagues if he sees enough playing time.

Mitch Haniger Aug 24 5:40pm ET

Seattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger has no established timeline for his return to the big league club. He's been out since early June with a ruptured testicle but recently had a setback in his rehab with lower back soreness. Haniger stated he "needs to get back squared away before resuming rehab games" and is going to take it a day at a time moving forward. The 28-year-old impressed earlier this season with 15 homers in 63 games, but with no return date in sight, time is running out for him to contribute this season. Barring any more setbacks, he could return in early or mid-September, but he won't help out much for fantasy purposes.

Carlos Carrasco Aug 24 5:30pm ET

Cleveland Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco could return to the big leagues as soon as September 1 when rosters expand as he works his way back from a leukemia diagnosis. The right-hander hasn't pitched since May 30, but has begun rehabbing slowly since the start of August. Carrasco held a 4-6 record with a disappointing 4.98 ERA before his diagnosis, but will come back healthier than he was at the beginning of the season. He'll likely return to the club as a reliever limiting his fantasy appeal, so managers don't need to add him wherever he's available.

Tommy Pham Aug 24 5:20pm ET

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Tommy Pham is back in the lineup Saturday versus Orioles left-hander John Means. Pham left Friday's contest early with a nagging wrist injury, but has returned to his customary second spot in the batting order. The 31-year-old has contributed across the board in all roto categories with 19 homers, 60 runs, 54 RBI, and 16 thefts in his first full season with the Rays. He may play with this wrist ailment for the duration of the season, but he's still providing fantasy value with his bat and legs. Expect Pham to cash in another 20/20 campaign before the year ends.

Eloy Jimenez Aug 24 5:20pm ET

Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez (hip) is back in the starting lineup on Saturday, serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth against Rangers left-hander Kolby Allard. Jimenez missed the last two games with a minor hip injury. The talented 22-year-old should be returned to all fantasy lineups immediately. His upside is undeniable and he's hitting .241/.293/.471 with 22 home runs, 47 runs and 52 RBI in his 340 at-bats. There continue to be growing pains, but the league better watch out when he finally puts it all together.

Mitch Keller Aug 24 5:20pm ET

Pirates rookie pitcher Mitch Keller may have not been credited with a win on Friday night but he did turn in the best start of his young career, as Pittsburgh beat Cincinnati 3-2 with a ninth-inning comeback. Keller went six innings in the no-decision, striking out nine Reds while allowing only a solo home run by Aristides Aquino in the second inning. Only 10%-owned in all Yahoo Leagues, the Pirate's top pitching prospect will line up for his next start on Wednesday when Pittsburgh travels to Philadelphia.

    From RotoBaller

Nick Pivetta Aug 24 5:10pm ET

Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Nick Pivetta was sent down to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday to add further to a disappointing season. The right-hander gave up five runs (one earned) on Friday in a frustrating loss to the Marlins to up his ERA to 5.38 on the year with a 1.52 WHIP. Pivetta could return to the big leagues when the rosters expand in September, but won't hold any fantasy relevance pitching out of the bullpen. 2019 will undoubtedly go down as a bust season for the 26-year-old, but he's young enough to still have time to return to fantasy relevance in the coming years.

    From RotoBaller

Andrelton Simmons Aug 24 5:10pm ET

Los Angeles Angels shortstop Andrelton Simmons is not in the starting lineup on Saturday. Simmons recently returned from the injured list, so the Angels are likely easing him back into action. David Fletcher will start at shortstop and hit leadoff against Astros left-hander Wade Miley. Fletcher has been very valuable for the Halos for his ability to play all over the field. The 25-year-old also makes plenty of contact and is hitting .288/.346/.397. He doesn't have much power (fiver homers), but Fletcher is valuable in deep mixed and AL-only leagues for his ability to get on base and hit for average. He's also scored 70 runs and stolen eight bags in 468 at-bats. He's not a bad DFS sleeper against the southpaw.

    From RotoBaller

Anthony Rizzo Aug 24 5:10pm ET

Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo (back) was removed from the game early in the fifth inning on Saturday with mid-back tightness. Rizzo had a walk in two plate appearances before exiting. Consider him day-to-day for now, but the Cubs would be dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of the postseason if Rizzo were to miss time down the stretch. The 30-year-old is batting a very solid .290/.402/.526 with 25 long balls, 80 runs, 82 RBI and five stolen bases in 532 plate appearances. He's a must-start anytime he's on the field. Ian Happ and Kyle Schwarber could be options to replace Rizzo at first base if he misses any time.
