Pittsburgh Pirates OF Corey Dickerson (shoulder) started a rehab assignment with Class AAA Indianapolis Friday, May 24.
New York Mets catcher Wilson Ramos launched his third home run of the season on Friday against the Detroit Tigers. Ramos went 2-for-4 in the process, while also scoring two runs in a 9-8 loss. The veteran has struggled at times this season but is hitting a respectable .257. With a shortage of options at the catcher position, you could do much worse than Ramos, who is one of the better offensive backstops in the league.
Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto remained scorching hot on Friday night against the Miami Marlins. Soto went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in his team's win. Soto's three-run shot in the eighth inning helped put the Nationals ahead in a wild game that ended in the Nationals favor, 12-10. The young outfielder is 6-for-7 in his last two games and is batting .600 in his last four games. It's safe to say that Soto is on a hot streak, so take advantage.
Los Angeles Angels OF Justin Upton (toe) is now able to run on 100 percent of his weight and has been cleared to resume taking on-field batting practice and participating in some outfield drills.
Washington Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon stayed hot on Friday against the Miami Marlins. Rendon went 2-for-4 with a double, home run and three runs scored in his team's victory. The stud third baseman clubbed his 10th home run of the season off Miami starter Pablo Lopez in the third inning. Rendon is now hitting .326 and sports a 1.102 OPS. Continue to ride your star player, as he is one of the premier players in all of fantasy.
New York Mets right-hander Noah Syndergaard failed to post a quality start on Friday against the lowly Detroit Tigers. Syndergaard allowed six runs on 10 hits in only 5 1/3 innings of work. He struck out nine. The big righty came into Friday's contest with a plus matchup against a right-handed heavy Tigers lineup but failed to emerge with a win or a productive start. He will carry a disappointing 4.93 ERA into his next start against the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road.
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Ketel Marte had a monster night on Friday against the San Francisco Giants. Marte went 3-for-7 with three runs scored and four RBI. The 25-year-old clubbed a three-run home run in the seventh inning off reliever Derek Holland for his 10th home run of the season. Marte is hitting .265 but brings a nice power-speed combination to the top of the D-backs order.
Philadelphia Phillies RP Pat Neshek (shoulder) is dealing with a sore shoulder and will be placed on the injured list, according to manager Gabe Kapler.
Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eduardo Escobar had a productive day at the plate on Friday against the San Francisco Giants. Escobar went 2-for-6 with a home run and three RBI in the 14-2 rout of the Giants. The veteran's home run was of the three-run variety and was his 12th long ball of the season. Escobar is now hitting .281 and can provide fantasy teams with some pop at the third base position while hitting in the middle of the productive Diamondbacks order.
Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Robbie Ray earned the win on Friday night against the San Francisco Giants. Ray went 5 1/3 innings, allowing just two runs on five hits to go along with nine strikeouts. As usual, the southpaw was inefficient with his pitches, needing 106 to get through 5 1/3 frames. However, he was given a ton of run support, as the D-backs were ahead 14-2 when Ray left the game. He will toe the rubber against the Colorado Rockies on the road in his next start.
Updating previous reports, Oakland Athletics OF Khris Davis (hip, oblique) will be shut down from swinging a bat for four to five days before undergoing further evaluation.
Minnesota Twins right-hander Jose Berrios picked up his seventh win of the season in an 11-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Friday. Berrios allowed four runs (one earned) in 6 1/3 innings of work, striking out four. The young hurler improved his record to 7-2 with a 3.20 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 64 strikeouts in 70 1/3 innings of work. Berrios bounced back from a rough patch over his previous two starts. He will have his work cut out for him on Thursday when he faces the Tampa Bay Rays.
Minnesota Twins outfielder Eddie Rosario went 4-for-5 with a double, a homer, and three RBI in an 11-4 win over the Chicago White Sox on Friday. Rosario and his teammates combined for nine extra-base hits in the blowout win. The veteran outfielder has developed into one of the most dangerous hitters in the American League. He is now hitting .285 with an .868 OPS, 15 homers, 34 runs, 42 RBI, and two steals. He is well on his way to a monster season at the plate. He's an excellent play on Saturday against Chicago lefty Manny Banuelos.
Minnesota Twins outfielder Max Kepler had a big night in an 11-4 win over the Chicago White Sox on Friday. Kepler went 3-for-4 with a double, a homer, two runs, and four RBI in the victory. The full line raises Kepler's batting average to .271 with an .865 OPS, 11 homers, 33 runs, and 29 RBI. The 26-year-old has been scorching at the plate of late, hitting .467 with three homers over his past seven games. Still available in 42% of Yahoo leagues, it is worth picking up and riding Kepler while he's seeing the ball well at the plate.
Indians' SP Shane Bieber recorded 10 strikeouts in 5 innings in a 3-1 win over the Rays on Friday, May. 24.
Seattle Mariners RP Connor Sadzeck (undisclosed) was removed from the game Friday, May 24, after being checked by the team trainer.
Toronto's RP Trent Thornton recorded 10 strikeouts in 6 innings in a 6-3 loss to the Padres on Friday, May. 24.
Padres' SP Joey Lucchesi recorded 11 strikeouts in 6.2 innings in a 6-3 win over Toronto on Friday, May. 24.
Seattle Mariners RP Ryan Garton cleared waivers and was assigned to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday, May 24.
Colorado Rockies RHP Jeff Hoffman was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque Friday, May 24.
