Brandon Nimmo May 22 9:00pm ET

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo's (neck) MRI exam revealed no structural damage and "inflammation" is the new buzz word for his injury. He will rest for a few days and hope it dissipates, but there is no timetable for Nimmo's return after he landed on the injured list on Wednesday. Nimmo has been dealing with neck problems since April and is hitting just .200 (26-for-130) with three home runs, 14 RBI and one steal on the season. He's likely been dropped in most mixed leagues. New York's injury issues just keep getting worse. They'll mix and match with Rajai Davis, Juan Lagares, Carlos Gomez and J.D. Davis in the outfield until further notice.

Robinson Cano May 22 9:00pm ET

New York Mets second baseman Robinson Cano (quadriceps) left the game early in the third inning on Wednesday with left quadriceps tightness. The Mets also scratched infielder Luis Guillorme from the lineup at Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday, so they might be preparing to place Cano on the injured list. The 36-year-old veteran was hitless in his two plate appearances and is now hitting just .241/.287/.371 with three homers and 13 RBI in 181 plate appearances on the season. His power has all but evaporated and he won't be a must-hold in mixed leagues if he lands on the shelf. Adeiny Hechavarria replaced Cano at the keystone on Wednesday and could see more playing time if Cano misses more time. Jeff McNeil could be an option there as well.

Byron Buxton May 22 8:50pm ET

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday. Max Kepler is in center field and leading off, Marwin Gonzalez is in right field and batting third and Luis Arraez is the designated hitter and hitting sixth against Angels starting pitcher Matt Harvey. All three of Kepler, Gonzalez and Arraez are worthy DFS picks against Harvey, who is a shell of his former self on the mound these days. Kepler has the most daily appeal on Wednesday night in the leadoff spot. Buxton should be back in the lineup on Friday after Thursday's off day.

Jay Bruce May 22 8:40pm ET

Seattle Mariners outfielder/first baseman Jay Bruce recorded a single and a double in a 2-for-4 effort Wednesday scoring the team's only run of the game. The veteran has had a terrific year power-wise for the M's this season clubbing 12 bombs and 26 RBI but is still batting on the interstates with a .192 average. Bruce has just one homer in his past 12 games while striking out 28.9% of the time. Although he's on a cold streak, Bruce has a lengthy track record of producing in the power department and we should expect the same moving forward. He'll likely remain a drain in the batting average category, so owners need to be cautious with this facet.

Marco Gonzales May 22 8:30pm ET

Seattle Mariners starter Marco Gonzales had an excellent day on the mound Wednesday versus the Texas Rangers, but the offense couldn't help him out leading to his fourth loss in a row. He went seven innings giving up two runs (one earned) with a walk while striking out three as he returned to form after a couple of subpar starts. Gonzales started off the year 5-0 but has yet to win a game since April 25. He holds a respectable 3.41 ERA and 1.33 WHIP on the year but hasn't racked up many strikeouts with 48 in 68.2 IP. With the Mariners team on a downward spiral since their hot start to the season, wins may remain elusive for the southpaw despite giving up three earned runs or less in all but one of his starts this year. Gonzales will take on the Rangers yet again in his next start as he looks to put an end to his losing streak.

George Springer May 22 8:10pm ET

Houston Astros outfielder George Springer (back) took batting practice in the batting cage on Wednesday and did some running and remains day-to-day with lower back stiffness that has kept him out since Sunday. Hes moving great, manager A.J. Hinch said. Its really all about hitting for him. Hes not going to do anything outside from a hitting standpoint, so well see how he feels after the cage work. Fantasy owners are hoping that Springer will be able to return on Thursday night against the White Sox. He's excelled so far in 2019, slashing .313/.396/.654 with 17 home runs, 41 runs, 42 RBI and four stolen bases in 182 at-bats.

Jose Altuve May 22 8:10pm ET

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (hamstring) did baseball drills on the field and took batting practice on Wednesday with teammates. He'll head on a minor league rehab assignment soon. Altuve has been out since May 11 with a strained left hamstring but has been working out pain-free since Monday. He'll go to either Triple-A Round Rock or Double-A Corpus Christi to rehab. Barring any setbacks when he starts playing in rehab games, Altuve could return to Houston sometime next week. He's hitting .243/.329/.472 with nine home runs, 21 runs, 21 RBI and one steal on the season. Aledmys Diaz will go back to a utility role when Altuve is ready to return.

Jimmie Sherfy May 22 7:53pm ET

Arizona Diamondbacks RP Jimmie Sherfy was optioned to Class AAA Reno Wednesday, May 22.

Taylor Clarke May 22 7:50pm ET

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Taylor Clarke will make another start on Saturday against the Giants. Clarke wasn't good in his time in the minors this year before getting called up, but he opened eyes on May 7 by allowing just two runs in six innings against the Rays. Clarke, 26, doesn't strike many hitters out, thus limiting his fantasy ceiling, but he is definitely worth considering as a deep league streamer this weekend against the light-hitting Giants.

    From RotoBaller

Wilmer Flores May 22 7:40pm ET

Arizona Diamondbacks infielder Wilmer Flores (foot), who was placed on the injured list on Tuesday, has been diagnosed with a foot fracture. It means that Flores probably will be out around a month or more. The 27-year-old was hitting a respectable .281/.326/.398 with only two home runs and 14 RBI in 128 at-bats. He's not a must-hold in deep mixed leagues if you have other needs. Ildemaro Vargas could see more playing time with Flores out, but he's mostly just an NL-only commodity.

    From RotoBaller

Fernando Tatis Jr. May 22 7:40pm ET

San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (hamstring) is unlikely to play on the team's upcoming road trip, according to manager Andy Green. The Padres are heading out to Toronto and then New York to face the Yankees. The 20-year-old top prospect has been out since April 28 but could return soon after the road trip. He was hitting a nice .300/.360/.550 with six home runs, 13 RBI and six stolen bases before his injury. The upside is crazy good and Tatis needs to be stashed in all formats. Manny Machado will shift back to the hot corner and Ty France, who has struggled, will likely be sent back to the minors when Tatis is ready to come back.

Wilmer Flores May 22 7:23pm ET

Updating a previous report, Arizona Diamondbacks INF Wilmer Flores (foot) has been diagnosed with a fractured foot.

Omar Narvaez May 22 7:20pm ET

Seattle Mariners catcher Omar Narvaez (knee) is listed as day-to-day after leaving the game early on Wednesday after taking a foul ball off his knee in the third inning. He's hoping to return to the lineup on Friday after the off day on Thursday. The 27-year-old has had a great year to this point, slashing .307/.377/.511 with eight home runs, 25 runs scored and 20 RBI in 154 plate appearances. Given the sad state of the catcher position in fantasy, Narvaez needs to be owned in all leagues.

Rajai Davis May 22 6:53pm ET

New York Mets OF Brandon Nimmo (neck) was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, May 22, because of a stiff neck. The team also selected the contract of OF Rajai Davis from Class AAA Syracuse and designated RP Paul Sewald for assignment.

Jason Heyward May 22 6:40pm ET

Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Partly it's to give Heyward rest and also the Cubs are facing a left-handed pitcher. Kris Bryant will slide over to right field and bat second versus lefty Cole Irvin. Bryant is always a threat to go deep at the plate, so he's useful in all fantasy leagues on Wednesday.

    From RotoBaller

Gregory Polanco May 22 6:40pm ET

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Gregory Polanco (finger) is back in the starting lineup on Wednesday after being scratched from the lineup on Tuesday due to a jammed finger he suffered on Sunday. Polanco is in right field and is hitting third on Wednesday against Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray. Gray has a penchant for allowing home runs and Polanco has four of them in 82 at-bats this year. He'll be a solid investment in DFS contests this evening. The 27-year-old is hitting .280/.344/.512 after getting a late start to the season due to offseason shoulder surgery.

Omar Narvaez May 22 6:33pm ET

Seattle Mariners C Omar Narvaez (knee) suffered a bruised knee during the game Wednesday, May 22, and is considered day-to-day.

Andrelton Simmons May 22 6:30pm ET

Los Angeles Angels shortstop Andrelton Simmons (ankle) will not need to undergo surgery on his Grade 3 left ankle sprain. Simmons was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday, and likely won't be back in the lineup anytime soon. The Angels will have to wait until the swelling goes down before they can even have a timetable on his return.
