Anibal Sanchez May 21 5:30pm ET

Washington Nationals starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez (hamstring) threw pain-free on Monday and said he never had an MRI exam for his mild hamstring strain. The veteran right-hander expects to return from the injured list when he's eligible on May 27. The 35-year-old is 0-6 with a 5.10 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 41 strikeouts in 42 1/3 innings (nine starts) for the Nats and hasn't been of much use to fantasy owners in any league settings. Erick Fedde is filling his rotation spot for the time being. Fantasy owners won't be holding their breath for Sanchez to return.

Mark Trumbo May 21 5:30pm ET

Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that outfielder Mark Trumbo (knee) will play in the field "soon" in extended spring training games, and he is getting close to a rehab assignment. The 33-year-old has yet to play in 2019, but he can offer decent power numbers in a hitter-friendly environment in deeper leagues when he's healthy. Trumbo is just three years removed from slugging a career-high 47 long balls and driving in 108 runs in his first year in Baltimore. Keep him on your watch list in deep mixed and AL-only leagues if you are in need of some thump.

Shawn Kelley May 21 5:20pm ET

The Texas Rangers activated relief pitcher Shawn Kelley (illness) from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and optioned pitcher Brett Martin to the minors in a corresponding move. Kelley had surgery to remove lymph nodes from his vocal cords last week. He'll return to a 3-0 record, 1.29 ERA, 0.71 WHIP, 12 K's and two saves in 14 innings over 14 outings. While Kelley might not immediately jump back into the closer's role, he should eventually return there with Jose Leclerc being demoted from the role. Snag Kelley off the waiver wire if he was dropped by his previous owner and you're in need of saves.

Tommy Milone May 21 5:20pm ET

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Tommy Milone will start on Tuesday against the Rangers, according to manager Scott Servais. Milone will help to fill the void in the rotation created when the team sent Erik Swanson to the minors. The left-handed Milone had a 5.81 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 7.9 K/9 in five outings (four starts) for the Nationals in 2018. He was 4-2 with a 3.83 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 7.8 K/9 in nine outings (eight starts) over 49 1/3 innings with Triple-A Tacoma before being called up. If he pitches well, Milone could stick around for a bit. However, he'll be a very risky streamer in deeper leagues against Texas.

Ryan Tepera May 21 5:13pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays RP Ryan Tepera (elbow) was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right elbow impingement Tuesday, May 21. The team also recalled RP Jimmy Cordero from Class AAA Buffalo.

Collin McHugh May 21 5:13pm ET

Houston Astros RHP Collin McHugh (elbow) was placed on the 10-day injured list with right elbow discomfort Tuesday, May 21. The team also recalled RP Brady Rodgers from Class AAA Round Rock.

Hunter Wood May 21 5:10pm ET

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Hunter Wood will serve as the opener on Tuesday against the Dodgers. Wood has yet to allow a run in his five outings (7 1/3 innings) over one start for the Rays this year. He's walked one and struck out seven. He'll face a tough matchup against the Dodgers and is only likely to go an inning or two, so he should be avoided for fantasy purposes. Jalen Beeks figures to come in after Wood and throw the bulk of the innings on Tuesday.

Brady Rodgers May 21 5:10pm ET

Houston Astros starting pitcher Collin McHugh (elbow) has been placed on the 10-day injured list with right elbow discomfort, retroactive to May 18. McHugh took a steep dive after his first four starts of the season and had been demoted to the bullpen prior to this injury. The Astros have called up Brady Rodgers from Triple-A in a corresponding move. The 28-year-old only has five appearances in the majors and is a risky fantasy option, at best.

Tommy Milone May 21 4:53pm ET

Seattle Mariners 2B Dee Gordon (wrist) and 1B Ryon Healy (back) were placed on the 10-day injured list with a right wrist contusion and lower back inflammation, respectively, on Tuesday, May 21. RP Parker Markel was also optioned to Class AAA Tacoma. The Mariners selected the contract of LHP Tommy Milone and recalled 2B Shed Long from Tacoma and activated 3B Dylan Moore from the IL to fill the open roster spots.

Javy Guerra May 21 4:53pm ET

Washington Nationals RHP Jeremy Hellickson (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained right shoulder Tuesday, May 21. The team also activated RP Javy Guerra to the active roster.

Clayton Richard May 21 4:50pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Clayton Richard (knee) will start on Thursday against the Red Sox in his season debut and will go around 50 to 60 pitches. The left-hander threw a bullpen session on Monday and made a three-inning rehab start for Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday. The matchup on Thursday is a terrible one, but Richard wouldn't be a good streamer in any format regardless of the matchup. The 35-year-old has a weak 5.8 career K/9 in 10 seasons in the big leagues and should be left to deep AL-only leagues as a matchup-based play.

    From RotoBaller

Anthony Bass May 21 4:50pm ET

The Seattle Mariners have signed right-handed relief pitcher Anthony Bass. The 31-year-old reliever has been good so far in Triple-A this season, compiling nine saves and a 3.29 FIP through 20 innings. He pitched well for the Cubs last season in 16 appearances and should find himself in a middle-inning relief role with the Mariners.

    From RotoBaller

Shawn Kelley May 21 4:33pm ET

Texas Rangers RP Shawn Kelley was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, May 21. The team also optioned RP Brett Martin to Class AAA Nashville.

Texas Rangers RP Shawn Kelley was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, May 21. The team also optioned RP Brett Martin to Class AAA Nashville.

James Paxton May 21 4:30pm ET

New York Yankees starting pitcher James Paxton (knee) said he "felt nothing" on Tuesday after going through another bullpen session. The left-hander, who has been sidelined since May 4 with left knee inflammation, added that he will likely have a three-inning simulated game on Friday. If all goes well he could return to the lineup at some point next week.

    From RotoBaller

Kevin McCarthy May 21 4:23pm ET

Kansas City Royals RP Kevin McCarthy was recalled from Class AAA Omaha on Tuesday, May 21.

Jon Berti May 21 4:13pm ET

Miami Marlins OF Austin Dean was recalled from Class AAA New Orleans on Tuesday, May 21. The team also placed INF/OF Jonathan Berti (oblique) on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain.

Miami Marlins OF Austin Dean was recalled from Class AAA New Orleans on Tuesday, May 21. The team also placed INF/OF Jonathan Berti (oblique) on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain.

Tyler Anderson May 21 4:13pm ET

Updating a previous report, Colorado Rockies LHP Tyler Anderson (knee) will undergo surgery to repair his left knee at a time yet to be determined. Whether or not Anderson can return this season will be determined after the surgery has been finished.

Yasiel Puig May 21 4:00pm ET

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Yasiel Puig (shoulder), who suffered a right shoulder sprain making a fantastic catch over the wall in right field on Sunday, is out of the starting lineup on Tuesday. The outspoken outfielder should be considered day-to-day for now, but there's still a chance he could land on the injured list if he doesn't heal quickly. Phillip Ervin is in right field and is batting cleanup against Brewers lefty starter Gio Gonzalez on Tuesday. Ervin doesn't have much fantasy upside in season-long leagues, but he should be looked at as a DFS sleeper in a run-producing spot. Jesse Winker is also on the bench against the left-hander, but Jose Peraza, who is taking his spot, can be ignored in the eight hole.
