Yu Darvish Mar 20 9:33pm ET

Chicago Cubs RHP Yu Darvish (finger) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Friday, March 22. He likely would start the spring training game Sunday, March 24, if he does not have any problems with the blister on his finger.

Clayton Kershaw Mar 20 9:33pm ET

Los Angeles Dodgers LHP Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) said he expects to need around 20 days before he is ready to pitch in a game. He said has missed spring training and needs to build up his arm strength.

Mike Soroka Mar 20 9:30pm ET

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Mike Soroka (shoulder) is throwing pain-free for the first time in weeks. However, the 21-year-old has yet to pitch in a spring game after being shut down with shoulder soreness. As a result, he was optioned to minor league camp on Wednesday. Soroka will not start the regular season in the starting rotation, but he should jump in there once he's healthy, whenever that might be. The right-hander has a lot of upside and is still worth a late-round flier in deep mixed leagues despite his injury.

Eloy Jimenez Mar 20 9:30pm ET

The Chicago White Sox agreed to a six-year, $43 million contract with outfield prospect Eloy Jimenez on Wednesday, sources familiar with the deal told ESPN. Baseball's top outfield prospect has yet to even play a day in the big leagues as a 22-year-old. He's now almost certain to start the year in the middle of Chicago's lineup, which makes the slugging right fielder even more attractive in mixed leagues for his monumental upside. If the options in the deal are exercised, it would bump the value of the deal up to $77 million. Jimenez is a consensus top-five prospect and has hit .311/.359/.519 with 65 home runs and 281 RBI in 408 minor league games.

Clayton Kershaw Mar 20 9:10pm ET

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) threw a 22-pitch simulated game to Dodgers hitters on Wednesday, but he admitted it's basically the start of his spring training after he developed left shoulder inflammation and had to be shut down. The left-hander will miss at least several weeks of the regular season. Manager Dave Roberts said Kershaw will throw a bullpen session on Saturday and two "innings" in a simulated game on Monday. Kershaw has been hurt by injuries the last two years and saw a significant drop in velocity in 2018, prompting fantasy owners to be more hesitant to select him as a fantasy ace this year. His value is dropping like a rock, to the point where he's now ranked as RotoBaller's No. 19 overall fantasy starter.

    A.J. Cole Mar 20 6:23pm ET

Clevleand Indians RHP A.J. Cole was sent to the minors Wednesday, March 20. Additionally, RHP Alex Wilson, INF Ryan Flaherty and RHP Justin Grimm will not make the Opening Day roster.

Drew Steckenrider Mar 20 4:10pm ET

Miami Marlins relief pitcher Drew Steckenrider, who had five saves as a rookie, is projected to get most of the save opportunities in the ninth inning, but left-hander Adam Conley will also get a shot if the matchups are more favorable for him. Sergio Romo, who has 109 career saves, is another option for Miami. Steckenrider has struck out 11.6 hitters per nine innings in his two years in the big leagues and will be the one to target as one of the last fantasy closing options off the board. The fact that the Marlins aren't expected to contend will likely hurt his amount of save chances.

    From RotoBaller

    A.J. Minter Mar 20 4:00pm ET

Atlanta Braves relief pitchers Arodys Vizcaino and A.J. Minter (shoulder) will share the closing role this year, but Minter is unlikely to be available before the second week of the regular season. Vizcaino has a chance to stand out to begin the season, but he'll need to prove his right shoulder is fully healthy after going 40-for-49 in save chances the last three seasons. Minter filled in admirably last year and was one of Atlanta's better relievers, but he's off to a bad start this year with his injury. Vizcaino is a little more attractive as a low-end closing option in deep mixed leagues right now, but that could easily change.

    From RotoBaller

Craig Kimbrel Mar 20 3:30pm ET

The Milwaukee Brewers talks with free-agent closer Craig Kimbrel are pretty serious, according to sources. Kimbrel would help strengthen a bullpen that already boasts Josh Hader, Corey Knebel and Jeremy Jeffress, but Kimbrel would likely work the ninth inning. That would hurt the fantasy value of Knebel the most. Kimbrel has a 1.91 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 333 saves and a 14.7 K/9 in nine big league seasons and would be an elite fantasy closer if he landed in Milwaukee.

Eloy Jimenez Mar 20 3:13pm ET

Chicago White Sox OF Eloy Jimenez is signing a six-year, $43 million contract extension Wednesday, March 20, according to sources. The deal carries a maximum value of $77 million and includes two club options.

Austin Gomber Mar 20 3:03pm ET

St. Louis Cardinals LHP Austin Gomber was optioned to Class AAA Memphis Wednesday, March 20.

Eloy Jimenez Mar 20 3:00pm ET

The Chicago White Sox are closing in on a long-term deal with outfield prospect Eloy Jimenez on Wednesday. Jimenez is the team's top prospect and No. 3 overall by MLB Pipeline after hitting .337/.384/.577 with 22 home runs and 75 RBI in 108 games with Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte last year. The upside is huge with this 22-year-old, and he should already be owned in dynasty/keeper formats. Target Jimenez and his upside in the middle rounds of mixed league drafts, even though he might not be up with the White Sox to kick off the regular season.

    From RotoBaller

CC Sabathia Mar 20 3:00pm ET

New York Yankees starting pitcher CC Sabathia (heart, knee) will make his first minor league start this spring on Thursday. The veteran left-hander is likely to miss the first week or two of the regular season as he recovers from offseason knee and heart surgeries. He must also serve a five-game suspension for hitting Rays catcher Jesus Sucre in 2018. The 38-year-old southpaw isn't as dominant as he was in his prime, but he can still be a matchup play in DFS and AL-only leagues for the Bronx Bombers.

    From RotoBaller

Brett Martin Mar 20 2:53pm ET

Texas Rangers RHP Ariel Jurado was optioned to Class AAA Nashville Wednesday, March 20. LHP Brett Martin was optioned to Class AA Frisco.

Rhys Hoskins Mar 20 2:53pm ET

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Rhys Hoskins (shoulder) has mild shoulder soreness and will not play until at least Friday, March 22. He is still expected to play Opening Day as the rest is precautionary, according to manager Gabe Kapler.

Luis Severino Mar 20 2:50pm ET

New York Yankees starting pitcher Luis Severino (shoulder) made 25 pitches at about 60 feet from flat ground on Wednesday for the first time since being diagnosed with right rotator-cuff inflammation. The right-hander said he felt no pain and will increase his throws to 50 on Thursday. Severino will miss at least the first month of the season, so that has negatively impacted his fantasy value to start 2019. When healthy, though, Severino proved last year that he's one of the best starters in baseball.

    From RotoBaller

Daniel Vogelbach Mar 20 2:43pm ET

Seattle Mariners 1B Dan Vogelbach (elbow) exited early Wednesday, March 20, as his left elbow stiffened up following a hit by pitch. Vogelbach said it's not a big issue but his status for Thursday, March 21, has not been determined.

John Axford Mar 20 2:43pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays RHPs John Axford (elbow) and Ryan Tepera (elbow) are dealing with elbow soreness and are being evaluated. Results are expected Thursday, March 21.
